“What a gem of a coffee shop!! We are so glad we tucked in for a cup of coffee. The coffee is delicious and the latte art is so cute. The desserts were the perfect sweet treat for a rainy Saturday afternoon. The shop carries so many darling items, many are perfect for cat lovers. We will definitely be back!!“

“As a visitor from South Carolina (aka Trumpistan), I am thrilled to know places like this establishment actually exist. We have no such refuges in my region. It’s so refreshing to mingle with people who value good drinks, good politics, and good society.
Thank you thank you for making my visit to Portland memorable.
Thank you for supporting and defending your community so well.
Thank you for just being good humans.

“You know that advice that’s like, if the locals are eating there it will be good? When I peered in the window and saw 3 elder (and let me say, spiffy!) gay couples having breakfast here I knew it was gonna be good. Self service coffee while we waited for the table was clutch. Shout out the servers, they’re awesome. It took a min to get our food, but that’s because they were sending our food back for a re-do. It came out scrumptious. Get the scrapple“

“Wow! We have been fans of Dean's Homestyle Cafe for many years. When the new owner's took it over this year, we were concerned about whether the comfortable, flavorful, "homestyle" experience we were used to would remain. The new team has done great! The staff is super friendly and working hard to make people feel welcome, learning names of regulars, and carrying on a place with a great reputation. The food is still excellent with super generous, well prepared portions and very reasonable prices. Well done!“

“A Charming and Memorable High Tea Experience
I recently surprised my son with high tea at Bumblebee Tea & Flowers, and it exceeded every expectation. As someone who’s enjoyed tea at some of the most renowned hotels and tearooms, I can confidently say this gem holds its own.
The tea service was fun and creative, featuring unexpected flavor profiles that were both refreshing and comforting (the prawn sandwich). What makes Bumblebee truly special is their commitment to the art and wellness of tea. Every detail—from the presentation to the curation—reflects their belief in tea’s healing properties.
The owner was absolutely lovely. She took the time to speak with us personally about her sourcing process and even crafted a custom blend tailored just for us. That level of care and thoughtfulness is rare and made the experience unforgettable.
Whether you're a devoted tea enthusiast or just looking for a unique outing, I highly recommend making a reservation. Bumblebee Tea & Flowers offers more than tea—it offers connection, intention, and a bit of magic in every cup.“

“The matcha ice cream here is exactly my taste, and the young female staff members are always super friendly. Every visit feels relaxing and puts me in a great mood. There is also an older male staff member who carries himself a bit differently from the others — I’m guessing he might be the owner.“

“I’m a cat person but I LOVE this coffee shop. Most of the employees are very friendly but my favorite thing about this Place is their specialty drink Menu. I
Almost always order a fun drink from their specials menu and this sets them Apart from all the other coffee Shops.

Also commendable!“

“Truly Exceptional Service
I had an amazing experience at Nossa Familia Coffee today. Tara, Aiyana, and Danny (the store manager) were absolutely wonderful. Their kindness and warmth made a real difference. When they overheard a bit of what I was going through, they went above and beyond and offered me the most incredible chai latte with oat milk — and honestly, it was one of the best I’ve ever had.
The atmosphere here is welcoming, the staff genuinely care, and the customer service is top-tier. Encounters like this remind me how powerful compassion can be.
Highly recommend this location. Thank you all so much. ☕💛“

“Delicious and customizable breakfast sandwiches made by Joo. His coffee is also very good and there is a full range of choices. Fun fact: Joo is a pickleball champ in his spare time! Rosa is the resident mascot and she is adorable. This is the place you want to get your morning coffee and breakfast.
Kid-friendliness: Joo and Rosa are great with kids!“

My friend and I had a rough morning and she really turned it around for us with her awesome personality and smiles. “Some of the best soup I have ever tasted! This is an extremely clean family operated business. The people are great and the soup is homemade, not warmed up canned or frozen commercially produced stuff. Well worth stopping by if you need to take the tram up the hill.“
“This spot was so cute and cozy. It had a great playlist, and a wonderful aesthetic. It was busy but the staff moved quickly and was so efficient. The coffee was so good and the ambiance was perfect for a good conversation over a latte or a cortado (both recommended) and a pastry, because they do all of it so well.“

“I am staying at a nearby hotel while my husband has surgery at OHSU Hospital. I needed an inexpensive coffee and lunch place that I could walk to easily during a heat wave here in Portland. A quick Google search yielded this little deli that is part of Portland State University. I had one of the lunch specials which was a turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich on a croissant. It came with chips and was reasonably priced. I also got an iced soy white mocha (which is in an insulating sleeve I have). Everything was just over $15.00 and was fresh and delicious. The espresso drink was strong (much needed) and not too sweet. As I was leaving, four Portland State University maintenance employees (per their shirts) came in and seemed like regulars . They have a variety of sandwiches including all-day breakfast ones. I might have to go back tomorrow morning.“

“We absolutely loved having our 55-person wedding at Bar Carlo. The owner Mel is at the same time very supportive and very low-key, which made for a smooth planning process and day-of event. The space is gorgeous, and has multiple connected wings, which allowed for the the party to morph seamlessly over the night from barside cocktail hour to outdoor patio ceremony to dinner buffet to dance floor. The space is already a beautifully decorated artwork, and Mel lets you decide how to arrange the space for your event, but you can also bring your own decorations/sound system/llama and she can handle those additions easily. The food and drinks were delicious too, and Mel was able to accommodate our entirely vegan and gluten-free menu without hesitation. Overall we loved the unique-ness, flexibility and good vibes of the space and the people of Bar Carlo, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cute and fun space for their wedding or other event. -Nicola & Lou“

“We had our Company Christmas party at Ohanna Hawaiian Cafe and everyone that worked there was so gracious and helpful. We had a mix of ages and everyone found something to their liking on their menu. The food is fresh, delicious and huge servings. I had the Kahlúa pork with mac salad and white rice. So flavorful and filling. All our team and their family had a great time and we celebrated the holiday in style 💕 Thank you Ohana 🙏“

“They walk around to all the tables asking if the shaved ice is theirs to all customers sitting down. Not very efficient. The kakigoris were amazing! Best in US so far for me. I would want to try the dangos next and hope they have the Uji Matcha kakigori next time. We ordered Berry Hojicha and Berry Matcha kakigoris. While we were there on Saturday lunch time, there was always a line. Most people looked like they were getting a drink and walking out with it. Half of the people had trouble going out as the door was tricky to open out lol. You have to push the button down while pushing the door out haha. Only street parking available.“

“We were a little intimidated by the wait, but the dessert was worth it! The mocha fudge cake was delightfully decadent, although the ginger cake was the real star. The decorations and piano music lent a lot to the atmosphere, and we got speedy service. Unfortunately, it was simply too hot to be comfortable, especially while drinking hot beverages. It felt stuffy and sweltering even after I shed down to my t-shirt. My mom ended up stepping outside to wait for me because she felt like she was going to faint. I feel like this place caters to very young people who may not be as sensitive to heat. (The ridiculous part is it wasn’t even cold outside, right around 60 degrees.) If it had been a more reasonable temperature inside, it would have been a 5 star experience.“

“L'Atelier Yaffe is literally a sanctuary for people deeply involved in nonprofit work and community organizing, I’ve come to appreciate spaces that feel intentional, safe, and grounded in culture. L’Atelier has offered that consistently, not just for our NSBE Pro-PDX meetings, but also as a cozy, welcoming spot for personal work and I genuinely love it.
The vibe is always chill, the crepes are bomb (every single time), and the rotating art always by Black artists, tells powerful, moving stories that spark conversation and reflection. You can feel that this place was created with purpose.
Whether you're looking for a place to focus, build, connect, or just breathe, L'Atelier Yaffe delivers. Portland needs more spaces like this.“

“This is a fairly small coffee cafe that specializes in CBD and natural wellness based drinks and products. When we walked in we noticed it’s a little difficult to walk to the area to look at their coffee, plant based protein and CBD products. However, it was totally cool because slowing down and looking at it makes it all the better and it was worth it. We ordered a dirty chai and a mocha, and x2 of the #1 turkey crescent. It took about 15 minutes and there were 7 people ahead of us. They served us drinks before our food was ready and we enjoyed it in front of the building where there were some seats. We were hiding out from the sun because it as 90 degrees outside and I finished by drink quickly. I went back to check on my food and they gave me a refill without asking ?? It has a nice small business feel. I really felt like when it says “Moms soup” mom is making it for me. Terrific customer service, aesthetic, and feeling. Thank you Apothecary, we were visiting from San Diego and it was a lovely visit.“
