“Can’t believe I hadn’t written a review for this place yet. After moving to Gresham a few months ago, I’ve been here weekly, sometimes multiple times a week. Their selection of approximately 18 beers has its classics that are always there, and then a rotating selection of tasty/seasonal selections beers that keeps things fresh. I particularly love their Cherry and Watermelon Sours. They offer growler fills and have a fun members club called “The Herd.” On Thursday evenings there is a friendly run club. Their taco Tuesday deal and Ranchhand pizza with the smoked pork are can’t miss.

Everyone who works there is super friendly and they’re such a treasure to have in the neighborhood.“

“The McMenamins is basically the same as all the others I've been in. But the theater rocks! It's a very old theater with a very old fashioned style, but it's been well kept up and I enjoy going there just for that.

Parking: It's a very busy area, so you may have to park a few small blocks away.

Wheelchair accessibility: I'm pretty sure it's wheelchair accessible but call to make sure first.“

This place has gone through major overhaul! The Zed formerly known as ZHaus was always a great spot for community and beer— and they doubled down and chose to focus on just that. There are a variety of food stalls to choose from along with a stage area for live music, and a large spot that opens toward their parking lot, which serves as the location of the Lents international farmers market. Happy to have a good place to grab food a beer and spend time with my friends.

2018 Review:
I want so badly to like this place, I really really do. This neighborhood hasn't had a lot in the way of high quality restaurants and when this opened up, they were welcomed with open arms.
Unfortunately it just doesn't live up to our expectations.
The food is subpar: The ingredient leave a lot to be desired and the execution just isn't there. Salads come with wilty/old looking veggies. Bread is overly toasted. Fried food is extra greasy. The best thing on the menu is probably the kids Mac & Cheese--it's really tasty!
The service is rarely good: Sometimes we have attentive servers, but most often service is slow or bumpy. We have had experiences with LOOOONG waits and no check ins or apologies, times where incorrect orders come out, and times with just blah servers. What's even more frustrating is when it doesn't seem to be because it's busy. One time we had a terrible experience, but it was SLAMMED. But often, we see staff talking to each other rather than being attentive to customers.
The beer is great: If you sit at the bar you can be fairly guaranteed to get good service. There's a beautiful skylight over the bar as well, so it's really a nice spot. They also have great deals for growler fills.
Also, they are wonderfully involved in the community. They support local fairs, the farmers market, The Pickles Games/fans, and more. They open their doors to people during the heat and offer water without requiring purchases.
They have so much potential, and the community is very supportive because they want them to succeed. But there is now a lot of construction with new food options opening up soon, and Z-Haus won't be able to rest on the dedication of the community alone. Real changes need to be made to improve the quality of the ingredients, the execution of cooking, and the training of staff.“

My favorites are the weekly sandwich specials since I’m usually there for dinner, Brussel Sprouts and the wings. “Excellent Coffee Tour. The gentleman that did the tour was extremely knowledgeable about all things coffee. It was easy to follow the things that he said and we were able to sample the Sumatra and Kenya blends. I Love That Mcmenamins makes the extra effort to make sure they are working with fair trade brands and no chemicals. Its so cool to learn about the ends and outs of roasting the beans and the formulas they have to follow. I had no idea all that went into making an awesome cup of coffee.“

Their bred and butter option always has some random compound butter --it was uncooked tumeric and ginger when we were there---which was inedible. “Not the typical renovated property, but everything is on point here. Great food, service, even if the interior is so, well, terrible.

It looks like they didn't bother to do anything to the space.

“Stopped in for dinner and were initially confused by the menu, but quickly figured it out. The service was friendly and she and the kitchen did a great job considering it seemed there was a large group ahead of us. The cheese smash burger was, well, very cheesy, but super delicious. I broke up the richness a bit by putting on some lettuce and pickled onion from the salad on it. The French fries were shoestring-style and so crispy and crunchy. We liked the seasoning salt on them as well. We also got Mac and cheese—divine! And the poppers, which were eaten so quickly I didn’t get to try any so they must have also been great. Plenty of seating inside with AC or outside with a beautiful patio with plenty of shade and space for four-leggers.“

We appreciate the variety of plants in their small (relative to other locations) outdoor area. And we put up a hummingbird feeder that we refill, and they've been appreciative of our efforts. “The food in every McMenamins location is pretty consistently very good but not great. That being said, if you're in the mood for a burger, I have yet to find burgers in Portland that are significantly better than the these ones. Notably, at this particular location, every time I've been, the service has been excellent. The waiters who are cordial, kind and attentive without being too pushy about anything or to get you out the door. That in addition to that cozy atmosphere with good heating, music and decorations makes it a great place to chill if you need a bite to eat and an hour or two to relax without being bothered.“

“We had the most incredible time on Friday. It was pouring and we sat at the bar and on their covered patio. The beer was incredible, cocktails out of this world, and the best cider. Andrew was our bartender and I tell you we’ve never had service that good. We also had the honor of meeting the brew master and it was so fun to learn about his masterpieces! Music was great. “We almost didn’t come here because of other reviews we read, but we had a fantastic experience. The waitress, Aleah, was attentive, gave good recommendations, and very nice to chat with. The food came out very quickly and tasted delicious- no complaints whatsoever. Good music, nice atmosphere, we will definitely come here again!“

“This business was originally called the Wilson-Chambers Mortuary. It was built in 1932 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. This is a cool looking historical building and a must see. The bartender was very nice and told me some of the history of the building. Be sure to check out the food.“

Three beer engines with traditional British style ales and a side pull tap serving up delicious Czech and German lagers. Regular taps usually have several saisons, gruit or fruited ales to choose from. Most recently enjoyed an amazing kölsch with fresh Lorien hops from Goschie Farms.“

“This is our local pub and the default place to grab drinks and dinner after a long week. There's always a great selection of local beers on draft, and the seasonal cocktails are a favorite. I often order the Blue Bayou salad, the Portland dip sandwich, or the Captain Neon burger, always with tots. Sadly the Scooby Snacks are no longer available here, so we'll occasionally travel to McMenamins locations further afield for those.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. If I have one criticism, it's that they often seem understaffed here, with one server to wait all the tables and tend bar. But ultimately it doesn't matter, I'll be going here until I die.“

“I stopped with my wife and a friend after the “No Kings” demonstration. The place was packed. Our order was delayed and we had to send back an order that wasn’t ours. We finally got our order after a long wait. When I complained, the manager comped one of our sandwiches and gave me a gift card for my next visit.
