“Had a wonderful first, of many, experiences at Blissful Bakery! Deb and Bob were kind and made us feel so welcome! Both indoor/outdoor seating were clean and tidy! Now…the pastries…literally the best scones I’ve ever had; so flavorful and soft! The cookies were soft and the flavors hit the mark! The sandwiches that Bob made were very good and hit the flavors as well! So excited to have found this lovely place! Thank you both for the great experience and convo!!“

“Wow! We have been fans of Dean's Homestyle Cafe for many years. When the new owner's took it over this year, we were concerned about whether the comfortable, flavorful, "homestyle" experience we were used to would remain. The new team has done great! The staff is super friendly and working hard to make people feel welcome, learning names of regulars, and carrying on a place with a great reputation. The food is still excellent with super generous, well prepared portions and very reasonable prices. Well done!“

“We absolutely loved having our 55-person wedding at Bar Carlo. The owner Mel is at the same time very supportive and very low-key, which made for a smooth planning process and day-of event. The space is gorgeous, and has multiple connected wings, which allowed for the the party to morph seamlessly over the night from barside cocktail hour to outdoor patio ceremony to dinner buffet to dance floor. The space is already a beautifully decorated artwork, and Mel lets you decide how to arrange the space for your event, but you can also bring your own decorations/sound system/llama and she can handle those additions easily. The food and drinks were delicious too, and Mel was able to accommodate our entirely vegan and gluten-free menu without hesitation. “We had our Company Christmas party at Ohanna Hawaiian Cafe and everyone that worked there was so gracious and helpful. We had a mix of ages and everyone found something to their liking on their menu. The food is fresh, delicious and huge servings. I had the Kahlúa pork with mac salad and white rice. “I was invited to play Mah Jongg at the Jewish community center. I've never been here before and had no idea how big it is. I didn't have time to wonder around and see what was all there, but the little Cafe was nice and clean, with plenty to choose from for drinks and food. There is security at the door and you must fill out a card to get into the building at the reception desk. Lots of nice people. I hope to go back in the future.“

“If I could rate this place 100 times with 5 stars from the service to the ambience to the food that tasted like it was straight from the garden of Eden, I would. The gentlemen to seat us was so kind and welcoming. We came on a Sunday morning on our way back to seattle after kind of a couple rough experiences in other parts of portland and this was light at the end of the tunnel/healing experience. Totally negated all the bad parts of our trip and sent us on a high note. I loved the playlist of tunes being played. It just seemed like every part of this restaurant was so very carefully thought out. The place and people were gleaming positive energy. While waiting we met the owner who told us the restaurant was named after his beloved dog, so sweet. Now to the food… JESUS! Every bite was an absolute experience and it was hard not to make noises of jaw dropping satisfaction. We ordered the avocado toast (never tasted anything like this before, it was insane), the burrito that had squash in it (you could I taste every single ingredient and it tasted like it was all grown, harvested and cooked that morning), and the lobster grits (I harvest and cook a lot of seafood myself and it was the same level of freshness and moist, highly highly recommend). We met the mother of the owner who was a precious angel and obviously very rightfully so proud of her son. The cherry on top was Keaton, who is worth his weight in gold. We originally ordered from him and he later on came over to our table a couple times for fun banter and to check in on us. This place is quality to the max and perhaps my new most favorite restaurant even tho I live in Seattle (sorry La Carta de Oxaca who will forever hold a special place in my heart). Oh yea I forgot the mama bear mentioned special events they hold there which feature fly in Michelin star chefs, I love that the mindset of this restaurant to share the knowledge of food and support other chefs. I definitely will come back to Portland just for one of these events!“

“We got the coffee flight, coconut, banana, and salted. I love the strength of Vietnamese coffee, and it was balanced well with these flavors, which weren’t overbearing. The coconut was really refreshing, the salted was delicious but I would finish it prior to drinking the other, sweeter drinks. The banana was our favorite!!“

Too much poetry for a coffee shop review? Maybe. ?I came in looking for a breakfast sandwich before jumping back into my commute... They don't serve those. So I opted, instead for a toasted jalapeño and cheese bagel with cream cheese and a hot white mocha. Delicious! My only complaint was that they left a bit of extra room for whipped cream, which I should have forgone for two more ounces of mocha!Lots of snacks are available. The staff is friendly and efficient.Sam's Cafe is a great option if you need good coffee and you're at the OHSU campus.“
