“I came to Metro Diner this morning off the humbug. I was starving & was craving some chicken & waffles from somewhere close in the area. Surprisingly the chicken was very seasoned and crispy. The waffles were also very tasty and soft. The strawberry butter mixed with their signature hot sauce was also pretty good. Alicia was my server. She was such a doll :) Her knowledge of the menu is impeccable and she took very good care of me. “I would normally recommend Six Paulpers, HOWEVER, last night's service was terrible. Not sure what the problem was. We first waited for quite awhile for a waitress, so we just went to the bar to get our own drinks. The waitress shows up, we order our food, and it took quite awhile to get to us. My husband got the French dip and fries, I got the cheesesteak egg rolls. The FFs were cold, greasy and had no taste. My egg rolls were burnt. I sent the FF's back, and asked to see if the chef would like to look at the FF's! She goes OK, but the chef isn't in, just the sous chef! And that was it! 🤣We had to go to the bar for another drink. We finally saw our waitress again for us to ask for the bill! Hope this was just an off night!😬“

Jeff made the planning phase and menu selection easy, he took the time to make a visit required to the venue, and made sure all of our guests had a great dinner within our budget. “Enjoyed my birthday tonight with family and friends. Grew up in Newark and have never eaten here. It did not disappoint. Love the history and the ambience. Our waitress, Piper was phenomenal, .... friendly, accommodating, and very attentive. The food was perfectly portioned and all tasted great. The soft pretzel was wonderful. The Brussel Sprouts was excellent and the short ribs were tender and flavorful. The apple cider mule was a perfect drink to top it all off.“

“We decided to go to dinner at Firebirds. I had been once and was not impressed; however my husband had never been there. I have to say the food was good. Cooked exactly the way we wanted. The only draw back we had is the portions of food that you receive for the price that you pay. We felt like we were robbed. We don’t over eat so when I say we had small portions, we really had small portions. The dessert was even small portions for the price that you’re required to pay. The five very thin layers of lemon cake were good but the slice was very thin for $10.25. Out bill was $76.30 for two and I would have no problem if we had an appetizer and alcoholic drinks but there was none of that because we don’t drink. We each had a soda because the lemonade was too tart. The server was very pleasant and on time with everything. We tipped her well as we should have. Not sure I can return there. A little more light would be appreciated if I did return.“

“Administrative details - While you usually must make a reservation a year in advance (which I did), there are a very few earlier spots available on their website. In addition, if you are on the email list, they send the occasional last-minute availability. Talula’s is BYOB. The price was $125 and with all the other things, taxes, gratuities, it came to $160. The Nook Table is available for 6-8 diners and the Farm Table is for larger parties. Website link is below. Everything is presented in “tasting” small portions. In addition to the menu, they provided a couple of additional offerings. I did not do a good job of capturing the delightful descriptions of the food provided by our server. (The next time I go, I will video the descriptions if they allow.) The group did a great job of bringing wine which was beautifully poured in appropriate glassware by our server. The server also paired the wine with the offerings for us! The service was exceptional without being pretentious. After each tasting, plates, utensils and glasses were cleared and refurbished so discreetly that you hardly noticed. The menu changes with the “farm to table” availability. My favorite was a squash tarte. [I was delighted to find that I did not like the foie gras. It is “made” in a most inhumane and horrible way. This is the only time I have eaten it and I will never eat it again.] I was sorry to find that by the Black Garlic Beef Ribeye (#6 on the list), I was getting to the point of “too much food.” The only downsides were “too much food” for most of us and the wines they suggested for the pairings were hard/impossible to find. I personally did not like the varieties of wines they suggested for pairings. The rest of the party enjoyed the comparable wines they were able to find and allowed the server to pair with the tastings. I will be making a reservation for next year very soon. I have already made a reservation for the “sister” Talula’s Garden in Philly for September.“

“Many thanks to the staff at Churchman's Rd Newark DE Applebee's. I spoke to Garrett to make arrangements for a birthday celebration there. He was so wonderful and pleasant to speak to and so accommodating. Our waitress Crystal H was wonderful too. She gave such great service, even helping us to decorate the tables. I didn't expect her to do that but that was so nice of her. The food was great and prices reasonable. The staff there all seemed so friendly. Again many thanks. He says it is a kid friendly place, yet, a well behaved child on the dancefloor was outside of his liking during his night out drinking with the wife apparently. His delivery of telling me he doesn't want my child on the dancefloor, followed by lies was unacceptable. Its ashame because the staff there is Phenomenal. He would be better off allowing his manager Kate do the talking if he doesn't like something in his drunken pugnacious state.“

“Rose was our server/waitress/CSR. She was absolutely on top of everything. She is the reason we will be returning. It is rare to find someone that is an exceptional representative of the brand.

“A wonderful place with a healthy variety of food so there's something for everyone. They're very accommodating with the options— not everything is vegan, but it feels like at least half of the menu is, and if it isn't then it can be made vegan. Menu items are conveniently and clearly labeled so you know what is vegan, gluten-free, or has nuts, among other things, and I can't stress enough how much I really wish every place did this. The seitan wings and loaded totchos are some of my favorites on the appetizer end- the "wings" in particular feel nice and juicy and have a great texture that I've been trying and failing to replicate at home. They have a really killer plant burger too known as the California Gardenator, which for me is always a big +10 points especially seeing how many places' "plant options" will just be an Impossible Patty; they also have delicious and flavorful tacos made with soy curls. The location unfortunately has the same "issue" as the other Main Street locations in Newark, which is that's there not a great way to quickly park and go even if you just want to pick something up (and all the parking spots on Main Street are metered because of course they need to capitalize off of the UD kids) but the actual building is a gorgeous establishment with great indoor/outdoor seating and friendly staff. Some may disagere but I found the prices pretty reasonable for the quality and it feels like the portions are plentiful— I've underestimated how much food they give you a few times.“

“Very good food last 3 times I've been to this one. The alcohol drinks were very good really enjoy their drinks. The servers are usually great Havent had any issue and always come back to check would recommend this one if want a lunch or dinner nothing fancy or just a meet up pricing is ok like other places and have some good deals better then other places“

“Always great food at two stones. This is our local location, but we've been to three other locations. Great value for great food. One thing I would suggest is, get rid of those long rectangular plates. Nothing stays on them correctly. That's all.“

I tend to judge places on what was expected of me being successful in my life. There are way too many places where customer service is lacking. I tend to avoid them and spend my money where people appreciate their customers. Today it's very rare when a GM sets the standard for the other employees to follow. Two Stones Pub GM, Mallary is excellent. She is engaging to all the customers, assists with the bartenders and servers. Unfortunately that doesn't happen very often. If you haven't been there I highly recommend going there.“
