“By far, a favorite place of mine! I've only ordered a few times but everything I've tried so far has been delicious. Food is piping hot, fresh and generous portions. Love the extras and handwritten note! So glad to have a place like this near me.“
“First time here. More like 4.5 stars. Overall, I like this place. It’s well decorated—interior design is thoughtful and tasteful, not tacky. It shares parking in the back with several other small establishments. Today it’s pouring outside, so it’s extra quiet. Yet I can imagine parking may be challenging on a sunny day.Food-wise, I think their sushi rolls are better than their ramen—I’m just not into their noodle’s texture. Their sushi rolls are of decent size and quality in their respective price category.Service is friendly. My only reservation today is: The restaurant is noticeably cold, as if they didn’t turn on the heat.“
“This has been my go to poke spot since moving to the area a year ago. I’ve tried other spots closer to where I live in the city and nothing comes close. Everything I’ve tried here has been fantastic from the build your own poke bowls to the dumplings to the sushi party platters. Great selection of fresh fish and vegetables, quick friendly service, and easy parking. Thank you Toyosu ??“
“Soft instrumental music, friendly staff, excellent ginger dressing on the house salad, and impeccable fish in the sushi, this spot is a must go for any sushi lover. Immaculate cleanliness with superb presentation. Cannot wait to visit again.“
“I've read most of the reviews here on this post and like the writers, I agree with the fine atmosphere, the food and the efficiency of the chefs but I didn't agree with and noticed with question the size of my sushi rolls in comparison to the four young college students that came in after I arrived, two of which ate the sushi w/their hands (clear amateurs and it's crass, lol) Having dined in several sushi houses across Center city let alone Philadelphia over the years this place WAS one of my favorites until last night.I've been here about approximately 5 to 6 times and I always felt a little bit of customer bias but didn't pay it too much attention until last night my suspicions were confirmed when I sensed a feeling of terse, unfriendly customer service and bias.I won't indicate the chef that displayed this bias but attitudes like this flow from the top.I WON'T be returning here. I'll remain going to their competitions in the area rather than to be "Sneak dissed on the low" and keep your self respect, dignity and character as a more sophisticated person rather than to be on the receiving end of socially biased, micro aggressions.I only think of what size w/the mayor's rolls be were she to walk in and order the meal I ordered, what cm size difference would she get served?Im not having sushi here anymore in 2024.“
“Excellent quality sushi! My family ordered a couple sushi combos and a special roll and everything was super fresh and absolutely delicious. Best sushi I had on a long time (inmy opinion, in terms of ramen and sushi it beats some otherJapanese restaurants in the area)“
“If you're looking for a great Seafood store, look no further then Philly Lobster Gourmet Foods. I've shopped here for several years now and am always so impressed by the selection, and top quality. The shop is so well run, it's so fresh and spotless. Not only do they have great fresh seafood, they also have many specially prepared entries and side dishes that will surely please. They even have a wide assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables to round out your shopping list.“
“The food and service was phenomenal, the food came out so fast and right after we finished with our appetizers our plates were replaced. The sushi was so fresh and the presentation was beautiful! So happy to have found this place!! Can’t wait to come “
“Took my daughter here for a lunch date. Overall the food was good. We both agreed that the gyoza was the best part of the meal. I had teriyaki salmon and she had beef ramen which were both good. The service was great and we didn’t have to wait long for our food.“
“The food was excellent. The restaurant is BYOB but we did not know this. I had the wonton soup and spicy steak and shrimp. My friend had the Chilean sea bass. The soup came out very quickly the main course was a little slow but we hardly noticed. The place must not have dessert because it was not offered. The food was delicious and plenty left for lunch tomorrow“
“The restaurant is super cute inside. Not very big but so aesthetically pleasing! The details in the roof were so pretty and fun. The food here was so good that we repeated courses. Seriously, the fried pork dumplings were sooooo good. The sushi was fresh and I have to mention that IT WAS REAL CRAB, no imitation. Our server was great with the table next to us but not the friendliest with us which was a bit awkward. However, I will say that Penne was a dang Rockstar and Her energy made up for our server's lack of it. She was so fun and vibrant. The duck (or chicken?) was so crispy and flavorful on the outside and juicy inside. The dessert was delicious! You get to pick 3 and they bring out these mini deserts that might as well have fallen out of heaven. My only complaint tonight was that we were basically seated on the table next to us. We were so close that we could easily sneeze on each other's food ? there were other tables that were empty when we arrived and remained so for the remainder of the night. It never makes sense when you have to be on top of another party and pretend not to acknowledge each other. Either way I give it a 9 out of 10Wheelchair accessibility: I was so relieved I didn't bring my walker because this place is narrow and it had stairs“
“Good quality sushi and drinks. I highly recommend their green tea lemonade (so refreshing!). But I really wanted to leave a review to say that the owners of this restaurant are very kind and attentive. Please give them your business. I had a pleasant experience here.“
“Food is good quality. On pricey side. Atmosphere and decor is great. Staff is attentive but short staffed. You really need to get their attention for them to come byParking: Free. Plentiful. A couple of handicaps, but not right by the entranceKid-friendliness: Yes. Spacious. No diaper change tables or counterWheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“We ended up being 15 mins late to our valentines day reservation we called about 40 mins before our time they accommodated us and held our table. The wait staff here are so friendly the food was amazing. Me and my fiancee will def be back again. Spent much less than I thought I would and we left full and happy. 100% recommend this place.“
“We go there every time with my husband because the people who work there are the most thoughtful, hospitable, and caring people in town! Sena has always impressed me with how she realized who I was and what my name was on the phone when I called to make an appointment, always remembered that I was gluten free and made sure that I got the best service even on Bam Bam’s busiest days! I totally recommend their Bibimbap. My husband has almost tried everything on the menu and he loves them too. But again, nothing can beat Sena’s and other staff’s hospitality. We will go back again and again!“
“So happy i found this place and finally tried it. Fairly new and luckily 5 min drive from me. Chill vibes inside. Food was on point! I came towards the night my first time with my bf. wish I got my server's name but she was very attentive and encouraged me to try things in my dish i kept avoiding lol. We got gyoza which is made with chicken (big plus I avoid pork) spicy tuna roll, salmon teriyaki and the Gyu Don. Had to come again the same week. This time ordered the Fuki Spicy Miso Pork Ramen and replaced it with beef. Same server w/ a younger man, still a great time.“
“I love Kawa. It’s my favorite sushi restaurant so far and I’ve gone to tons of sushi restaurants in the past and in Japan. The presentation is beautiful, the servings are healthy, and the rice is just ?? delicioso. The servers are so kind and attentive. We love them. Also shoutout to the sushi chefs for being so talented and awesome. We always get their Toro and Uni sushi. Next on the list is hamachi, smoked salmon and tamago. Everything we’ve had was delicious and we’ve never been disappointed with what we end up getting. The only thing that sucks is when my gf and I are craving Kawa and we realize it’s Monday…We also try to limit going there to only once a month but we always break the rule.“
“We came to this restaurant for dinner. This spot was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was very nice. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The meal was fresh and delicious. We had a great time and we will visit this place again. Recommended.“
“The food here is amazing, fresh, and affordable for such fine sushi. You can't go wrong with anything their amazing chef comes up with. So clean, you could lick the walls or floor. This gem is a little hidden (look next to the mexican place by the Giant door). There is nothing like this anywhere in town.“
“A wonderful neighborhood sushi spot. Delicious platters for 2 or 4 people, highly recommend the love boat. Maggie (the host and waitress) is so sweet and accommodating to every need. Reasonable prices and BYOB too!Dietary restrictions: Able to make rolls and soy sauce gluten free!“
“My friend had a craving for Korean food so we tried August Moon. We had a wonderful experience. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. My friend and I shared the vegetable pa chun, soon do boo, and bulgogi. The cook and spice was on point. We left feeling completely stuffed and satisfied.“
“Maki rolls were all excellent, and service was generally rather fast. The restaurant is currently take-out only, but I would definitely go when they start allowing customers to eat in again. 4 stars rather than 5 because there was a bit of green plastic from those cheap dividers inside the sushi trays that got into a dragon roll.“
“Stopped here after a day at the mall. The food was terrific - served up quickly and was delicious! The service was also great and they appeared to appreciate us as customers. It was moderately busy at 4:30 on a Thursday.I've got this one marked on my map to revisit again soon!“
“Loved the aesthetic and delicious sushi! The fish was quality! A lot of sushi places around here can get pretty crazy with what they put on rolls but Miyake has knocked it out of the park with its wonderfully balanced rolls. We didn't partake in the specials but it looks like they frequently change things up so we should always have something fun to try!“
“The atmosphere is friendly and laid-back. We received the food approximately 15-20 minutes after ordering; I found the dishes to be mediocre. I did love the Israeli sweet beverages they offer though!Parking: There is a parking lot right in front of the store.“
“Came in on a Friday without a reservation, but the staff was really accommodating and I got a table super quickly! Reservation is definitely recommended though. The sushi was sooo delicious and it was ready very quickly despite it being a busy night! Definitely will be coming back!“
“I celebrated my 40th with family here and it lived up to my very first impression from last year. I couldn’t wait to come back and have the vegan ramen and vegan cheesesteak sushi and the veggies of fire sushi. I could have eaten more and more, I love it here! My family is not vegan so it is a great place to make everyone happy. Delicious and the service and ambiance are perfect!“
“Rain was our chef and he made the night truly enjoyable! It was my spouse and their brother's first time doing any kind of hibachi and now the bar is set ridiculously high. Food was excellent from the filet to the scallops to the salmon to the chicken. Took a little bit to be seated despite the 8pm reservation but that's because this place is so good it's very popular on a Friday night, so not hard feelings on my end!!“
“Had a really great meal! Pork bao buns, Chinese pork and sausage fried rice, we're really delicious. Also got the seared tuna role (yum) and shashimi deluxe combo, which was good (good only because I just had the most amazing shasimi in Hawaii) Cost to bake was good and the grapefruit lychee martini I had was reeaaaal good!“
“Don't be afraid of the reviews; the food is pretty good, and the quality is also good; its fresh. When you walk in, you are welcomed by an oriental couple who are probably the owners, and they look like they have dedicated a lot of time and love to this business. I would recommend this, and its affordable.“
“Didn’t go there ordered from door dash so I can’t rate atmosphere . I added things in the order and I got all the extra things I asked for in the specialInstructions. Most places ignore that or don’t allow you to do that. The food is delicious they package everything so nicely I’ve only ordered two times but this place is my new go to! Give them a try youWon’t be disappointed.“
“Ordered takeout and was really surprised at how good it was. My only complaint is that they served the rolls in the same container which was not safe for me as someone with a shellfish allergy. But would def recommend the unagi and inferno roll.“
“A very nice, quiet, casual eatery in Media, PA. A great place to meet when you want to enjoy a lovely meal, and be able to have a conversation at the same time. Unlike most area restaurants with loud background music or bands. The food is spot on, fresh and delicious. The service is wonderful. All staff are delightful and caring. Additionally, they make one Hell of a delicious Asian Pear Sakatini! :)“
“Got take out tonight for me and my parents and everything was absolutely delicious!!My dads go to is the Tom yum soup and it’s his favorite soup ever! Kind of the only time I see him enjoy eating vegetables! He gets the vegetable one even!I got the massaman chicken curry and it was the best comfort curry ever! The sauce is creamy and awesome flavor with the peanut and classic curry veggies! It was really tastySorry I didn’t take a pic cause I’m eating the leftovers right now and just needed to review“
“We ordered takeout, so we can’t really speak to the atmosphere. I will agree with other reviewers- excellent selection of sushi rolls and sashimi. Really fresh, very tasty. Prices are very reasonable for the quantity and quality. I also ordered a hot dish which was very, very good- also tasted so fresh. I would definitely come back here and highly recommend this place!“
“We ordered on DoorDash. The bag was stapled at the top to be held upwards but the food was sideways. My rolls got soaked in sauce. Not a terrible thing but I’d prefer they were crispy. Highly recommend a different bagging/to go technique. The food was delicious nonetheless. I enjoyed everything in my bento box. The miso soup was good too. The dumplings were tasty but i had to pick out the beans/green vegetables was on it. Personal preference but other than that i will definitely order again. The salad was good wish it were more but it was a lunch combo so not complaining at all. Their ginger salad dressing was amazing.“
“You can tell it is more a grab and go type of place for the college folks but our dine-in experience was great nonetheless! Staff was so kind, attentive, and food came quickly. Sushi was amazing and amazing, I enjoyed my miso soup, and my husband and I shared some edamame.Definitely would recommend for anyone looking for some sushi in the neighborhood! Mango Tango and Holiday rolls were my favorites!“
“Mandarin Palace may seem like a seedy hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant, but that exterior masks what is likely the best American Chinese food in Philadelphia. I have tried many Chinese takeout places before realizing Mandarin Palace exists and was continually disappointed by each of them.Everything here is flavorful, well put together, and most importantly for any take out place, consistent, regardless of the day of the week. Every time we have ordered from here, the order was put together promptly, accurately, and with the same high quality every time. The only real con is that it's expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. The food here is second to none.Stay away from the non-American Chinese dishes though. This is NOT a sushi/Thai/Vietnamese place or anything besides American Chinese. Those dishes are mediocre at best and to be avoided.“
“I am pleasantly surprised by how delicious the foods are. Ordered sushi combo and two signature rolls. They are very fresh and flavorful. The restaurant is not too noisy and the environment is clean and welcoming. Loved our waitress Tina. I would definitely recommend and come back!“
“You're in for a real treat! The plates here are an amazing mix of flavors and textures that cater to everyone's taste buds, from the little ones to the grown-ups! And let me tell you, the attention and service are simply outstanding! You won't be disappointed!“
“I did an online carry out order, while picking sushi items I saw an odd question: Do you want soy sauce? I always thought sushi is supposed to come with soy sauce. I said “yes”. After taking the food home, it turned out that they forgot to include the soy sauce, and it was not worth driving several miles to go back. I would suggest Vic to include soy sauce or train their people not to forget it.“
“I think this may be the best sushi place in Philadelphia: the food is fantastic, as well as having pretty decent prices. The service is extremely attentive: all the staff care about your comfort and your experience. The presentation of the dishes is beautiful, but their decoration is overshadowed by their flavor. This is an intimate, cozy and comfortable place for both lunch and dinner. The cleanliness and hygiene of the place is generally good. Recommended!“
“This is my favorite place to get takeout sushi in Philly basically. The quality is a bit higher than the average sushi and it's convenient to get it at the takeout location at Penn. I like the salmon box and the fancy fish box - fancy fish is particular is delicious.“
“This is a popular place, and it's not hard to see why. The dining room is cozy, but not crowded. The menu offers a good variety of appetizers, entrees, and maki including old standards and plenty of original specialties. The veggie rolls in particular are worth a try! Service was prompt, responsive, knowledgeable, and personable.“
“Had a great time here! Byob so make sure to bring your own special wine. Sushi was outstanding. They had a great tuna special for the night we really enjoyed. It was super quiet here for a Sunday night. There was only one other couple the entire time we were there. The edamame was tasty but I wish I had gotten dessert!“
“One of our favorite places in Bryn Mawr. The food was absolutely spectacular and our server was absolutely delightful. they had something new on the menu and the enthusiasm of our server convinced us to try it and she was absolutely spot on! We also got the Bryn Mawr roll, because we were there to drop our youngest off at Bryn Mawr for freshman year. We ended up ordering two rounds of rolls and man do I wish I had room for more because they were ALL fantastic, but I am still drooling over that Bryn Mawr roll. It's not the most "exciting" but it was just PERFECT. I really can't wait to go visit my kid and go to Sushi Land again!!!“
“We were seated more than 10 minutes before anyone even came over to bring water and introduce themselves. A couple of managers walked past several times and didn't say anything, only observing. Finally, Eleanor greeted us and handled everything. She was AMAZING! She mentioned it being her 3rd day there. It was obvious she had experience, though. That young lady turned things around after our initial wait! The food was delicious and cooked well. The presentation and overall look of the food was niiicceeeeee too. Thanks“
“Been here several times and staff is friendly. They do charge gratuity if there is more than a party of 5. We always get sushi for appetizers and hibachi for dinner. My daughter loves the performance and enjoys her shrimp lo mein. Will always pick this spot for hibachi.“
“Portions are small and food is ok (we had the crab fried rice and tuna tataki). The tuna was flavorless. We didn’t drink but they seem to have an extensive drink menu so maybe there is more to offer cocktail-wise. I liked the atmosphere and the service was good. Glad we tried it out, but wouldn’t return.“
“We had previously always gone to Vic's in Rosemont... (ie Near Villanova). This location in Havertown is fantastic. They are reasonably priced, but the food is always fresh and super good. I highly recommend the three roll deal :-) Their menu is expanding as well. Outside of traditional sushi, they have other entrées as well. I was shocked at how good some of the food was. I would highly recommend them.“
