“I had an intimate birthday dinner at Uchi recently. This restaurant has been on my “want to go” list for quite some time, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. From the bold yet harmonious flavors of the nigiri to the delicious appetizers and small plates to the friendliness of the staff, I was so glad they opened up a location in Philadelphia. Highly, highly recommend. If I wasn’t from out of town, I’d be a regular.“

“Ordered five different rolls alongside an avocado salad. My girlfriend praised the salad, saying it was one of the best she's ever had. I was the one mainly eating the rolls, and I've got to say that the fish tasted very fresh and of high quality. Great food and service. Highly recommend!“

“We stopped in after doing some sight seeing and the other sushi restaurant we had been recommended was unexpectedly closed. This turned out to be a great turn of events because Koto Sushi did not disappoint. We ordered the salmon sushi entree and the toro nigiri. The salmon was absolutely delicious and fresh, the rice was also some of the best sushi rice I have ever had. The toro was excellent and beautifully prepared. We were sad to have missed out on the uni, but the very kind owner explained to us that the order had not yet come in which is understandable and not at all his fault. The atmosphere was impeccable with fun music playing at a comfortable volume. The restaurant had soft lighting and comfortable seating. We would absolutely love to come back!“

“I came here to eat with my girlfriend, and we also ordered takeout a different day. We both agreed this is the best sushi we had so far here in the city. Lived here for 5 years, and the sushi and sashimi here are great and taste fresh. The takoyaki unfortunately was very cold when we got it, but I understand it's takeout and would be better in the restaurant. Definitely give this place a try.“

“I went Friday the 6th to celebrate my friend turning 18. Not my usual scene but the food was amazing. We all got different types of dishes and the adults loved their drinks. I got sushi and it was out of this world. The music was a little loud for my taste but still enjoyable. Kirsy was our server, she was excellent. She was so sweet and attendant to our party of 7. Even the bathrooms were clean and adorable!! If you're looking for a fun night out with good music and even better food and service, this is definitely the place to go.“

“We went friday between 4-6pm and had 3 vegetarian rolls and 2 regular sushi rolls. The food tasted pretty good but really it was filling. Typically my husband can eat several regular rolls so the fact that 2 satisfied was impressive!
Food was made very quickly as well which was a bonus considering the parking is paid street parking or paid garage parking
Presentation was very thoughtful.
Staff is very attentive and the space is quiet and calm. Its a more intimate setting with dim lighting but the lighting was a little too dim for me.“

“Hands down one of the BEST sushi experiences I’ve had in Philadelphia. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the welcoming, positive energy. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable, and has such a great vibe that makes you want to slow down and truly enjoy your food.
I ordered the shrimp tempura roll — and honestly… I loved it so much that I ended up ordering TWO of them. Perfectly crispy on the outside, warm and flavorful on the inside, and made with extremely fresh ingredients. Every bite tasted better than the last. You can genuinely tell that a lot of care and pride goes into how the sushi is prepared here.
On top of that, I also ordered a shrimp avocado roll to take home, and Min was absolutely amazing. She was beyond kind, patient, and welcoming — the kind of person who makes you feel like a valued guest, not just another customer. She packed everything up quickly and neatly, and made the whole experience even better with her friendly attitude and positive energy.
This place isn’t just about great food — it’s about great people, great service, and a great overall experience. If you’re looking for authentic sushi, high-quality ingredients, generous portions, and a spot that truly cares about their customers, do yourself a favor and come here. I will 100% be back and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
Highly, highly recommend!“

“Been here twice already (one time last week and today) and the quality/service is unbeatable!! I promise you, every bite you take…it’s going to be so fresh. One dish that was a letdown was the miso soup. I wish it had more flavor. Overall, everything was really good and we can’t wait to come back again!

“My evening at Morimoto‘s will be the best memory of my visit to Philadelphia! If I was a local, I’d be in to have their Wasabi Watercress Caesar salad at least once a week. Brilliant! Service was excellent, all the food was lovely, and the restaurant itself, with its soft jewel-tone colors and wave-like forms, was a delight to be in.“

“Got the shrimp teriyaki bento box. Portion was massive. Came with some tempura pieces including a big shrimp tempura. The shrimp was cooked good on both. Rice was cooked good. Not dry or too wet. Came with some dumplings too. Would order again! Maybe would get beef next time. There’s a bunch of different options.“

“The food here is absolutely worthy of a Michelin star. Everything was fresh, unique, explained well, and, most importantly, delicious! I love how they’d rather you be comfortable eating than for you to pretend like you know what you’re doing. Everyone is treated equally here whether you’ve tasted ponzu sauce or not. They will explain what you’re eating and how to eat each course. I recommend this place for people who don’t mind spending on quality and who have a pallet sensitive enough to appreciate refined Japanese cuisine. I removed a star from their service because apparently they do something nice for people on their birthdays, and we were skipped, although it was noted in our reservation. Recommend pairing sake and whiskey to go with the Wagyu. You won’t regret it! Also, go check out the bathroom while you’re there! They really brought the best parts of Japan to Philly!“

“I forgot to get photos because I ate my food so fast but it was delicious! I got the Ex-Girlfriend roll with no eel sauce and it was a very generous portion. It was freshly made and tasted like it.
Theres only about 3-4 tables with about 4 chairs each indoors. There are approximately tables available outdoors for when the weather permits.
The interior was clean and bright.“

“Hey get there fast
This seems to be a family owned well run restaurant
After landing in philly and resting a few hours i walked to the acme from my airbnb for wine and minor things but i saw fuki sushi was across the street along side the peruvian chicken joint. I got a couple pieces of chicken from the peruvian chicken joint (i will review them on another post) and i decided to eat at fuki sushi and let me say i was no ways disappointed. This joint is slamming and smacking. I had a Japanese lycee soda (with the marble in it) but i lost the smacker for the marble so the waiter said i will bring you another no sir just charge me for both and we good. I love lycees but this had the slight flavor of lycee but it will have to do until i get back to the east.
The food
I had pan fried chicken pot stickers which were so delicious
I had the dragon roll sushi which was busy spicy hot and flavorful
It was all so good
This place was busy with lots of take out orders
But i recommend grabbing a table
Eating and enjoying the meal immediately
I will return before i leave but this place is a 5 star joint
Enjoy“

“All the food was ridiculously good. Spicy edamame, purple fries, teriyaki chicken bowl, golden salmon roll, meet me in summer roll, kani salad, shoyu ramen bowl, chicken katsu. The spicy edamame was not too spicy. And although I don't enjoy fruit in sushi, the meet me in summer roll was yummy! It was a nice easy walk to our hotel Sonesta.“

“Went here for a little sushi date. Perfect spot.
Not too fancy, also not too casual.
Arrived around 8:30 PM - they said that they typically close the kitchen around 9:00 PM, so it was “last call,” but they also didn’t make us feel rushed.
Fei, our server, was incredible - extremely friendly, attentive, and social.
I’ll definitely be back!“

“I ordered several party trays from Tokyo Sushi and it was an amazing experience.
Everything was incredibly fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. As soon as I put the trays out, everyone was impressed!
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and there were so many great options to choose from. Everyone at the party found something they loved, and the vegetarian options were especially well done and thoughtfully prepared, which I really appreciated.
Great quality, variety, and service all around!
I would absolutely order from them again for future gatherings and highly recommend their catering.“

“Exactly what you're looking for if you want take-out sushi, or just a quick sushi bite. It's not going to blow you away or anything, but it's GREAT portions, for a very solid price, and IMO, as I said, exactly what we're looking for when we want take-out sushi. We will definitely be coming here again. Oh, and the people working there are quiet but extremely nice and respectful. Can't wait to come back.“

“We happened upon this gem purely by chance. We had an amazing meal from A-Z (!!!) The sushi is phenomenal; sit at the newly designed sushi bar in the back and enjoy unique daily catches that come in through the connections the owner has with local fishermen. The restaurant is also known for their aged steaks, and Kobe prime rib, which we will try next time. I had the miso black bass and it was one of the best flavors with fish I have ever had. The broth had such a delicate shiitake mushroom flavor, which I loved. I literally couldn’t have had enough of this delicate, delicious dish. I could have had two orders and eaten it all! I think this dish epitomizes what the word UMAMI means. I also had the sautéed mushroom extravaganza, a treat for every taste bud of incredible flavors melted with a delicate sauce. My husband had their unique collection of sushi and sashimi choices that were all enjoyed at their stunningly beautiful sushi bar, complete with two young, passionate chefs who love what they do, and treasure their personal designs of the fish and rolls. All the rolls are presented in this great wooden cradle design, which I thought was so unique and functional. The owner was all smiles and genuinely happy to have had us try his new restaurant. I recommend it highly for either an exceptional steak meal (all are btw, so reasonably priced so order them for sure), or the traditional sushi. You won’t be disappointed. This will be our weekly go-to restaurant and we are counting the days until we will return, which actually will be next Tuesday the 9th! Bravo to the whole team at Umami and thank you for your passion for Japanese food, and for doing it right from A-Z. We will see you soon! Debbie and Gene“

“Holy god I have never had ramen and pork buns so good!
Not to mention they had a playthrough of final fantasy 7 remake on the tv!

“Nestled in the charming heart of Chestnut Hill, Tokyo Sushi at 8221 Germantown Ave offers a truly wonderful dining experience. The location itself is fantastic – perfectly situated to capture the vibrant, yet relaxed, atmosphere of the avenue.
Step inside, and you're immediately greeted by an ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between hip and cozy. The decor exudes a wonderful simplicity and cleanliness that contributes to a warm and inviting atmosphere. A real highlight is the small, yet transparent, open kitchen, which allows you to watch the father-and-son duo meticulously preparing your sushi – a testament to their dedication behind the craft.
But of course, the real star of the show is the food. From the moment your order arrives, it's clear that this restaurant prides itself on using very fresh ingredients. Every piece of sushi is a testament to this commitment – the fish gleams with top quality, and the vegetables are crisp and vibrant. The texture of each roll and nigiri is simply spot-on, especially Sushi On the Beach, a perfect harmony of tender fish, perfectly seasoned rice, and delicate nori. And the taste? Absolutely delicious. Each bite is a burst of clean, exquisite flavors that showcase the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs.
Whether you're a sushi aficionado or just looking for a fantastic meal in a wonderful setting, this Chestnut Hill gem is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended!“

“My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new in the Northern Liberty area as we frequent the area quite a bit, and decided to give Yanaga a try. After just one dine in experience, it's become one of our new favorite spots to eat, and it's definitely on the restaurant rotation for when we go out to eat!
The place is very decked out with anime stickers, manga panels, and the like, while also playing different kinds of anime on the TVs they have on premise. I really recommend the spot, for just the food alone even if you don't like anime.“

“A gem in south philly and definitely the best sushi in the area. Super friendly service, always easy to get a table, and BYOB is a plus. The salmon lover's sushi entree is my go-to and is accompanied by a salad and soup. Haven't been disappointed with any of the rolls - always the perfect rice-to-fish ratio and all of the ingredients are super fresh.“

“The best budget sushi/sashimi in the city. I’ve been going here for years. Stop by biweekly to get my sashimi deluxe and enjoy it at home.
The pics are from my recent dinner for 4. We spent $150 without the tip and it was a beautiful presentation and delicious. Service, from Joanna, was great!“
“High quality fish arranged in to-go boxes for a fair price. At $27, I got 3 rolls, 6 pieces of sushi, an avocado, fish, rice salad, and edamame. 3 rolls at this quality is typically around $20 alone so I’m not sure what the bad reviews about price and quality are. Funny enough, this is actually the best quality sushi you will find in UCity, and it’s takeout.“
