“I have no idea why this place is not rated higher. Beer and drink selection was excellent, and the food was top notch. Not many places make a Muffaletta as good as the ones in New Orleans, but Champs does! And the Colorado Rockie (French dip) was on point. Bartenders and servers were awesome as well!“

“I havent been to Applebee's in a while but they were nearby while traveling and their latest menu options looked pretty decent. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken Skillet which was outstanding although heavy on the garlic. It was quite flavorful and a reason to come back. Staff was extra courteous and the atmosphere is typical for the chain. Ive already planned a family dinner night to come back since the prices were quite decent.“

“Had lunch there today as part of our office's quest to find the best pizza in State College. I was impressed with their new lunch menu that let's you pick from 3 crusts and any toppings by the slice at a reasonable price. The flakey crust was unconventional but very tasty. I went to the Hi-Way downtown in college but have largely forgotten it but was pleasantly surprised today and will go back for lunch much more often. Will they win our office vote for the best pizza? Not sure but I suspect they are in the running.“

“The Arena Bar & Grill probably has the best wings in State College with an incredible selection of sauces to choose from. Their menu goes beyond wings with plenty of great food options, and the friendly staff makes every visit even better. Wings are 75 cents on Monday nights!“

“Pickle's catering is SO GOOD I've ordered it for multiple events over the past semester (I'm an event planner at the University). Regardless of whether it's a small, 30-person faculty retreat, a medium-sized staff workshop, or a large youth camp for high schoolers with over 100 participants - everyone comes back for seconds and thirds and asks who the caterer is!
Because you order a la carte by the pound instead of giving a head count, you can really tailor your buffet to minimize food waste and to fit with any budget. Their menu offers a lot of variety too: I'll typically get the pulled chicken and sliced brisket (both smoked in house) with the Sweet Dixie Red and the Carolina Gold BBQ sauces on the side; their homemade creamy Gouda mac & cheese (it might be the best in town); the Down South Caesar with special croutons and queso fresco crumbles; cornbread with cinnamon honey butter; red eye beans with bacon; and coleslaw. The orders also come with pickled onions and housemade sweet dill pickle slices which are the perfect balance of sweet and tang when you load up a little Hawaiian roll slider with all the toppings!
The manager, Brittany, is fantastic to work with - she is responsive, organized, and always on time with deliveries. She was great with helping me figure out a satisfying vegetarian option for a handful of my attendees (Pickle's whipped up a delicious vegetarian wrap with sauteed mushrooms, shredded cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and banana peppers - looked so good I wanted to snag one myself!) and labeled the meals for folks with dietary restrictions to make it easy.
I seriously cannot rave enough about this hidden gem of a catering option so conveniently located across from the Allen St gates in downtown State College. 10/10 you gotta try their catering for your next event!!“
