“About a year ago, I went to John Wright Restaurant for Sunday brunch with a group of friends. I didn’t know what to expect, but the moment I arrived, I was struck by the beautiful waterfront scenery and the stunning, rustic building. Inside, that old-world charm blends perfectly with an upscale dining vibe, giving the place a truly special and unique energy. The brunch was absolutely delicious—so many options, including my personal favorite, eggs Benedict. Fast forward to last night: I stopped in for happy hour with a friend, and we grabbed seats at the bar. It was surprisingly comfortable and not overcrowded at all. The two bartenders were fantastic—warm, funny, and attentive. And the cocktails… OH MY GOSH. Just try them. You’ll thank me later! We ordered the calamari and crab risotto small plates, and they were so good that we immediately ordered a second round of the exact same thing. From a relaxed Sunday brunch, to after-work apps and cocktails, to a special dinner out—John Wright Restaurant gets a solid 10/10 from me. 🍽️“

“Today, had lunch at The First Post in York, PA. The place is nice and spacious, located on East Market Street. Our party of four shared a ravioli appetizer and had French Onion soup. Both were delicious!!! Easily the best French Onion soup I've eaten!!! For lunch, we each had something different. My Aunt had Salmon Salad. My wife had The Post Steak Sandwich with fries. Our son had the Blackened Shrimp Alfredo. I settled for.the Fish & Chips!! Each of us loved our meals - taking at least half home!! The portions were enormous!!! To wrap up, we decided on some dessert. My Aunt and wife had the Creme Brulee. My son and I had the Chocolate Reese Cake Tort. So good!!!! Service was phenomenal!! If in the York, PA area, you MUST stop in and eat up!!!“

“We visited Bullies Saturday evening, 4/9. For starters I had the mussels. Absolutely delicious. I'd go back just for them. My wife had bacon wrapped scallops. They were really good, also. For entrees I had the Kona tenderloin steak. It was perfectly cooked and fork tender. My only issue, it came out barely luke warm. Same for my French fries. I'd call them cold. The roasted brussel sprouts, which I was really anticipating, were tasty, but all but burned and only luke warm. Though I should have said something to the server, I didn't. My bad. My wife's meal, beef tenderloin tips, were perfectly cooked, hot and fork tender, with mushroom and onion gravy. They were on a bed of rice. Dessert was creme brulee and NY cheesecake. Both were very good. I was disappointed with the cheesecake slice, being about half the size of what I consider a normal sized slice. All in all, a tasty meal. I'd return, but in the future insist on a HOT meal, not luke warm.“

“Our son's wedding reception was held here, and it was our first time visiting. I was being a bit nosy about the basement when a gentleman who worked there noticed and kindly asked if we’d like to take a peek. Thank you again — that small gesture showed how much you care about your visitors’ experience. During the reception, a family with three young kids started to get a little bored. That same gentleman came out with a basket of brand-new Matchbox cars and gave each child one. Wow! What a thoughtful and above-and-beyond thing to do. You truly helped make their day — and ours — even brighter. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality!“

“Wonderful view of the golf course while eating inside or on the patio. The servers were exceptional, making sure my tea glass was topped off, checking with us several times, having the dessert menu as we needed it. Especially enjoyed the POKE SALAD (echoes of ELVIS). Not far off Route 30 between York and Lancester. Be sure to stop.“

“Got the turkey dinner from here it was wonderful And I will be back for more. The only reason I give four stars is because The portion size was extremely small barely any turkey. Service was wonderful people were wonderful! Paid Almost 15.00 plus tip“

“Be careful if going here. It looks like they are having real issues with trouble makers, which can happen with any tavern along the river. About 10 days ago they confronted a person outside who refused to pay. That guy pulled a gun on the employee and threatened to shoot them in the head. Look online, you'll see the news story. We went there with another couple anyway for supper aware of the situation that possibly the management wasn't able to keep the trouble out of the place. Within minutes Courtney had our drinks at the table and placed our food orders ... and then some white trash at the bar left out a super loud screech or whistle looking for attention. It was bad. Then he did it again a few minutes later and left. One more time and I'd have gotten involved. The owner needs to hire some beefy enforcement right now to keep a handle on this or the place is going to get a reputation like the Bainbridge Inn as a good place to raise hell and start a fight. NOT date night atmosphere.“

“First time visit for lunch today. This place is OUTSTANDING in every category! I got the turkey club and my wife got the grilled chicken salad. Both were delicious! We saved room for dessert and got a grilled peach muffin and coffee. KILLER! Very friendly staff, and exceptionally clean throughout. Can’t wait to go back and try breakfast.“

“Hello and good afternoon!! I was just in and ordered and picked up a Cheese pizza and a Pepperoni pizza. A friend of mine of many years said it’s the best in the area, my wife and I just moved back from Florida and they don’t make very pizza down there.😊 Anyway, your pizza is AWESOME, TASTY and just very very delicious and great!!!! Great crust, love the sauce, curled up pepperoni!!! I loved it and I know my wife will too!!!!!😊❤️🍕🍕🍕❤️😊 The young lady bartender was very nice and personable and the young man that made my pizzas also was very very nice and polite!!!! “Old-school, Greek-run Diner which appears to be popular with the post-Church crowd. Hefty money with lots of choices. My chicken gyro was delicious but my husband prefers my family's chip beef and the gravy was a little heavy on flour and too thick. Lovely service while we had grumpy kiddos.“

“We normally don't eat in the restaurant. I order on-line and pick it up. The food is very good and the order is always ready on time. Sometimes when I want a little less food, I'll order from the children's menu. It always includes a small drink and a small dessert. You can't go wrong with that.“

“This place is so underrated. I don't get it, the parking lot is practically empty all the time but this place is legit the best restaurant in the area. The food is always unique, the draft beer selection is second to none in this town (have to go to Lancaster city or Harrisburg to compete with this). Music selection is good, servers are chill... I don't get why this place isn't packed. If u pass thru Etown u need to go to the Black Gryphon.“

“We stay there at least twice a year when we go to Events at Mount Hope Winery. The rooms are great and the resteraunt/bar never disappoints ( huge selection of seasonal beer/ cocktails) They even have a great selection of gluten free items at breakfast“

“Came here for my Daughters Birthday around 2 so we could beat the “traffic”, plus there was 7 of us! Trista, our server, was at the table and ready to go. Not pushy but timed, she managed the timing for the whole meal. Was so pleasant, never missed a beat. Glasses were always full and Trista even remembered my daughter’s Birthday Treat. We had a mixture of food stuffs, like having the shrimp appetizer for my entree, Burgers, Rivs and of course, steak! There was no rush to get us out of the table ( we would not do that as a simple courtesy to others waiting) but the time there was nice, not a lot of “noise” and did I mention Trista?“

“This was our first time eating here. We had lunch, and it wasn't busy at all. We had the nicest waitress, and when she gave us our bill, she drew a lovely flower on the back of it! Very nice! I had the grilled chicken salad, which was tasty and filling. The chicken was very good. My husband got the crispy chicken Caesar wrap with fries. He said it was good. The reason for four stars is because the women's bathroom could be cleaner. We would eat there again.“

It's fun to order. The food is beautiful. I wouldn't call it great, but I would say it's very good. There's enough variety to everyone to enjoy. You can tell someone has long loved working at this place.

“I came with a group of 15 for high tea & we all left full & happy. Just happened to be Mardi Gras today, so it was definitely New Orleans style food. Both the service & food were wonderful especially considering it was all done by high school students. An instructor circulated around the dining room & spoke with us for awhile. He said he didn't have much to do because the students were working pretty much on their own at this point. We are planning to come back in the fall for a different type of menu. We all live 30-45 minutes away, but if I lived closer I would be a regular customer at their bakery.“
