“We stumbled into Cochon Dingue on a lazy Sunday morning with a group of friends, and the sunny terrace overlooking the St. Lawrence River made it the perfect spot to linger over brunch. I ordered the eggs benedict and they were genuinely flawless, hollandaise rich and perfectly balanced without being heavy. The service was warm and attentive even though the place was packed, which honestly impressed us all. If you haven't made this a Sunday morning tradition yet, you're seriously missing out.“

“Our fantastic dining experience began as soon as we walked in the door. We were greeted at the door and welcomed. All of the restaurant staff that saw us welcomed us and made us feel like we were regulars, even though this was our first visit. We ordered wine from the by-the-glass list; there was a very diverse list of wines and all of the wines on the list were very highly rated and the wine we had lived up to its very high rating. I also had the bartender make me a custom mocktail that was very good.
My main course, veal. was prepared in the kitchen and my spouse’s steak was prepared tableside. Both were prepared beautifully and exactly as requested. The waiters were very attentive, but did not hover. Nabil, our waiter, made sure he understood our orders and requests and made sure that everything was done perfectly. The restaurant was obviously an older establishment but was spotlessly clean with very comfortable furniture and furnishings. Prices were higher than average, but not exorbitant and what one would expect for the exceptional service and food quality provided.“

“We visited Sept 21, 2025 for dinner. It was absolutely perfect. The location in the old port area was vibrant and beautiful. The service was great and the food was creative and exceeded our already high expectations based on other reviews. I was hesitant to go there because I’m not a big fan of rabbit, their specialty, but I gave it a try. We had the rabbit rillettes appetizer and rabbit pot pie and rabbit poutine for mains. It was all just amazing! The atmosphere on the heated porch was cozy too! La pin Sauté gets my highest recommendation!“

“We recieved excellent service and rhe ambiance was very nice, it wasn't too loud and the decor was beautiful. We went there for breakfast and supper and as good as both meals were, I do believe they specialize in breakfast. The food was amazingly delicious and the portions were generous. “I had breakfast here while I was staying at the hotel. I ordered the Le Complet which is their “Classic” Breakfast. It was massive! It came with two eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, a mountain of potatoes, and a side cup of fruit, yogurt, and granola. I only weigh 150 lbs and feel like you need to be an NFL linebacker to finish this dish, but I gave it a valiant effort.

The bacon was crispy just the way I like it, the potatoes were well seasoned, and the fruit was fresh.

Servers are also really nice. They’re attentive and refill your coffee without having to ask. I recommend getting here on the earlier side cause it gets busy around 8 - 9. They open at 7am.“

“This was my second time coming to Shaker on Rue Saint-Jean this week while I was in Québec City. Their mixology drinks as well as their appetizers and food is some of the most delicious and flavourful I have ever had. Emrick was my server the second time and he was amazing! Quick, excellent service both times I was here, especially from Emrick. This is a new favourite place for me to eat when I come here. I would highly recommend eating and/or having drinks here if you're in the area.“

“We had a great time and wonderful food. We went twice on our trip to Quebec City. Steph has a great sense of humor and treated us like family.“

“We sampled a bunch of different menu items. The classic beef tartare, one of the listed favourites, can be divisive and not for everyone. Personally, it was a treat for me trying out something different, but I do not think everyone would appreciate its almost raw meat and liver-like texture. The Tartare comes with fries, a salad, and crouton to round up the order.

We upgraded the side of fries that came with the Tartare into their Tout Cochon poutine. I was happy with that option that way I was able to sample their house poutine without needing to dedicate a full meal order for it. I can say this was among the best poutines I have had. The gravy was rich and flavourful. The poutine was also loaded with a variety of different proteins like the Gaspor farm ham and the bacon-wrapped sausage. The perron cheese curds also perfectly topped off the whole dish.

Our last order was the Quebec pork chop marinated and grilled with maple and tamari. It was served with apple chutney, sweet potato mash, and seasonal vegetables. It is exactly as you would expect with the ingredient details of the dish's name. You get a lot of different flavour profiles and textures with the meal order. Some saltiness with the pork chop then some sweetness with the apple chutney. Meaty tenderness with the pork chop, mushiness with the potato mash, and then some slightly crunchiness with the seasonal vegetables.

We dined on Sunday lunchtime the day before Family Day. There were people waiting to be seated by the time we arrived, but fortunately our group of only 2 people has a table spot available so did not need to wait. We were led down flights of stairs to the lower floor which was level with the street below. The whole place with its classic walls and decor exudes with classic charm.“
