Nourriture excellent, sellers problem on availability commandé plusieurs types pour partager et ils ont amené tout en même temps et on avait pas de place sure la table. En plus les tortillas devenait trop mouillé parce-que ce nous prenait trois de temps pour les manger. En dernier la gérante est venu à notre table pour nous faire comprendre de s'en aller pour faire la place pour d'autre mais il n'y avait personne qui attendait.“

Reservation by phone. On location, not a cat. Only us and the only staff/front of house/cook/etc. Menu: extensive. Atmosphere: drama in Spanish on the TV. Decor: inside your parents house. Not wheelchair accessible. Bring your own wine/beer. Food made on order. Came pretty quick. Good portions. Tasty. Had the restaurant for ourselves until 20:00 came. Then 11 + 2 came at once. Staff overwhelmed but did his job.

Good prices.

TL;DR: come with good company, good wine or beer, and patience and enjoy the pupusas.“

“REAL Mexican food, delicious and authentic. When I went through the door I felt the scent of a home made meal, took me back to my childhood at grandma’s house in Michoacán. My food was cooked at the moment and it was on the table surprisingly fast. I ordered “enchiladas Rojas” and they were the real thing! I asked for some extra spicy salsa, they brought red and green salsas, not too spicy but great taste, and the salsa macha is almost better than my mom’s. I’m going back with my kids to try the carnitas 🤤“

“My Fiancé and I went to El Gordo for the first time after reading online reviews. We were pleasantly surprised and agreed with the positive feedback. We found the atmosphere to be relaxed which was what we were looking for . The Sunday special for 2 of Chicken or Tofu Fajitas was our choice for our first visit ( but definitely not our last ) & we were very happy with it. It was delicious and a generous sizzling pan with the usual accompaniments of 8 soft Tacos , Pico de Gallo, Sour Cream, and Salsa . We chose a bottle of their house wine which was an Organic Bio Tempranillo from Spain. The price was very reasonable.

For dessert we had the traditional Churros and Flan and were happy with both along with an Americano/ Canadiano.

The service was exceptional, courteous, friendly , made us feel like honoured guests or family. We were especially happy with our server , Simon who is a definite asset to your Restaurant. He has the perfect personality for the service profession.
We would also like to give a shout-out to Malik. He too is great in the service profession. Personality wise, these two rate a 5/5 + 🌟⭐️

We will be returning and cannot wait for Summer Terrasse weather.

“I recommend ordering an entree along with your main meal, I was still hungry after only ordering a main, it was delicious, I could have eaten two of them. It was a taco bowl, so good, my kid had two soft shell tacos, really delicious. I wish the music wasn't so loud, otherwise great food and a nice clean bathroom.“

“Pros: Beautiful ambience and decor, good service, great selection of Mexican dishes some of which would be hard to find anywhere else.

Cons: It is of course the food why we came to this place. We really wanted to try Chile en nugada especially after reading the novel “Like Water for Chocolate”. And what a disappointment when it was served lukewarm. Asked the server and he said it was normal as they did not want us to burn ourselves. Yet the molcajete came extremely hot as expected! Also Chile en nugada came without pomegranate seeds which is a must in this recipe. Budget cuts?
And the molcajete mixte which costs $75 also speaks of budget cuts. It was missing the promised grilled cheese and nopales and had only a small quantity of beef, only 3 small tiger shrimps. It did have some cheap filler that looked like potato flautas.

Overall impression: mixed feelings, probably would not come back.“

“This is a spectacular, little, authentic, family-owned Mexican restaurant bringing flavours of Acapulco to Montreal. I had a burrito and it was so delicious. The service was good too. I was particularly amazed by the frothy, blended horchata. I've never had horchata served like that before, it was as much of a treat as the food. There is limited seating as it's a small restaurant. So worth trying this place if you love Mexican flavours.“
