“I was excited to go to Joe Beef with my son, since we both had been hearing great things about the place for years. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted by several of the staff as we walked through the restaurant to our bar seat. I always try to sit at the bar since you can chat with the staff, as they cook or prepare drinks. The service was outgoing and helpful, and the atmosphere was charming and cozy. We started with the escargot, which were great, but the butternut squash soup was absolutely spectacular, and by far the best thing of the entire meal. After that, we had the duck, and the lobster pasta, which came highly recommended. The duck dish was succulent, apparently “free range” which gave it a bit of a gamey taste, and it came with a gorgeous savoury sauce which included delicious duck hearts. Unfortunately, the lobster claw, (still in its shell), that came with the pasta was a little off, not exactly fresh, but the other parts of the lobster were great. We finished off with the “Profiteroles Poire & Chocolat”, an ice cream, pear, cookie and chocolate dessert. As I understand it, the ice cream was homemade which helped make it a wonderful dessert. All in all, we had a great time, but I have to say that the food was good, but not the kind of “blow your mind amazing” that I hope for from a high-end restaurant.“

Definitely a go to if you like to order a bunch of different small plates to share. Get the dessert. The carrot cake ice cream cake with toffee dripping was amazing. Would go back just to have that again.“

Let’s not forget the food. When in Rome you know…. So yes, I started my adventure with a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich and a sour pickle with slaw and fries. Take a very good look at that sandwich in the picture. Looks massive and delicious right? How about incredibly good tasting and extremely filling as well. You know the one in the picture…. “Been close to a decade since I first wrote a 5 star review on TripAdvisor upon our first visit and this time I wanted to share it on Google. We visit this place annually (other than lockdown year) from out of town. A proper gluten free restaurant. Over these years since being introduced to Areparas we've tried other places to compare, in different cities and countries. We also noticed over the years some menu changed here, I really miss the Crackling Arepera but the Pork Belly is my replacement and amazing. The point of this updated review a decade later is after over the years trying different Arepara places hands down this place is our benchmark! Each time we return and I take my first bite, I am instantly transported back to the wonderful memories and feelings upon tasting the food here like the first time. I am reminded why they are our benchmark for their ingredient quality, taste, prep, portion, their 2 sauces and why we must continue to return to enjoy such great food at reasonable prices by this Arepera owner and the team. “I really can’t say much about the famous Poutine, as I had the first one in my life here (it tasted pretty good!), but the burger (classic beef with bacon and cheese) was outstanding. Beers are fresh from the tab, service is really friendly, and the place surely has a vibe. It looks a bit rough at first, but catches you once you’re sitting inside. Prices are more than fair - especially the burgers are perfectly reasonable. Overall a great place!“

Servings are generous, and prices are fair. Ingredients are always fresh, presentation is good, and the service is fast, friendly, and attentive. Breads, including the English muffins which are the base for their Eggs Benedict, are baked fresh in-house.

The restaurant is run by a super friendly and hard-working family. I always stop by here when I'm in town.

I ordered pan fries but half of the dumplings didn't have a crust. My partner's beef noodles were WOW!!! really good. the soups were good too.

We have Sandwich, croissant, toast and sweet fix. Also hot chocolate and latte.
Not bad and the environment is special, but the seats inside maybe are not enough on weekends.
The toast mixed with goat cheese wouldn't smell strong when eating mildly spicy tuna salad together. Tuna salad is a little bit spicy.
Whipped cream on sweet toast is really delicious ?“

“I’m disabled and found it easy to walk into the place. It wasn’t overly crowded but had enough people to make it feel very lively! I started with the tortilla soup, then had the fish tacos and to drink I tried the strawberry Jarritos and a sip of their margarita which I’d have again on a warm day ☀️ Everything was delicious, the staff was patient and courteous.
