“Ordered takeout for the 20 pc special and noted that one set should vegetarian only. I was expecting the usual substitutions you usually see at other restaurants (avocado, cucumber, etc) but I have to say they were quite creative in how they made substitutions for the nigiri and rolls. The 20 pc box is quite filling if you're not super hungry and it is still good to eat the next day.“

“A friend recommended this cosy awesome restaurant and today, I was passing by and decided to discover LeDon Donburi. Honestly the appetizer and main dish was delicious. The desert was succulent, I practically licked the bowl clean… actually a client was sitting nearby and said to me: “you know we all lick the bowl”. LOL The owner behind the counter is quite cool and has great conversation. Next time, I come out of the country, I’ll stop by again and hang out. I think they are open 4 pm till 10 pm, 5 days a week… reasonable hours, means for a business owner like myself, who comes to town every now and then. I’ll have time to come back and eat a great meal after my errands, before heading up home up north. It’s lovely to eat well till 10 pm! :-) Even the customers are cool! Thanks to the whole LeDon Donburi crew, I’ll be back!“

“A beautiful little Japanese restaurant with a very warm welcome. It was the first time I ate nigiri, it wasn't to my taste but I could still see the excellent quality of the fish. The daikon starter, sake and mochi were very good though. The only downside was the service was a bit long but it was still bearable. If you like raw fish dishes, I think this is a must.“

“We went on a Sunday afternoon. It was pretty quiet so we had no issue getting a table. The service was pretty fast and great with their even being the robot. The waitress working was very friendly. They have a good variety of deserts, with the friend banana being great. Some soft drinks free as well. The only issue was with the deserts, other tables taking the wrong deserts from the robot delayed us but except for that nothing else. They also don't pressure you at all whatsoever which gave it a very nice ambiance.

“Wonderful service from smiling individuals that clearly know their food is awesome. Like daaaamn! That katsu curry bowl was so tasty it healed my soul from the inside. ? Oh, and that mackerel appetizer was easily the best of its kind I've tasted in this city. The umaminess was off the charts! ? — Will definitely be returning to sample the full menu. ?

This is also a great place to bring a date or have a chat with a friend. Music is tasteful yet not so loud you can't hear each other speak. (Other restos, take note!)

ps: If you spend more than $25 before tax you can accumulate stamps towards free goodies like appetizers or a plushie of their logo.. cute!

“Very good Izakaya, I recommend the tasting menu at $45 per person for 3 or 4 people, it allows you to have a good tour of the menu, we were able to test 12 items from the menu :)

My favorite dishes: sarada ramen, candy salmon, beek tataki, okonomiyaki (flatter and spicier than those in Japan), karaage
I also liked: takoyaki, gyoza, pokuribu
Not a big fan: tarutaru, gyudon, gomae, godzilla dessert

Being from Toronto and trying all the different Japanese restaurants there, his selection of speciality dishes was beyond my expectations. Great experience and great quality food. Oh, and don’t sleep on the desserts which we devoured in spite of being stuffed. “The food was delicious and well priced. The quality was very good. We had the shrimp tempura and miso soup to start. Each of us had a poke bowl - tuna and the salmon and tuna. Each was served over rice and salad but could be served only over salad. There is also brown rice if you prefer.“

“My last restaurant visit on my roadtrip to Montreal after a floor New York. I had the seared Taylor seared tuna and it was great. I had a Japanese soda with floating balls. They didn’t have takoyaki but a side salad with squid. The atmosphere was great and the ladies who served me were fantastic. It was better than the Japanese places in Pensacola. I don’t know when I’ll be back in Montreal but I’ll try to head there again.“
