“We had dinner here after seeing the restaurant on the show “Don't feed Phil.” We splurged for the chef's sushi dinner (because we live in Idaho where sushi can sometimes be questionable.) Every bite of fish was better than the one prior. We loved it all! And the cocktails paired beautifully with the sushi. Last, but far from least was the chocolate brownie desert. We both went to bed dreaming of that dish! Such a great dining experience.“

“Although Kashima is located close to our home, I only discovered it recently following a neighbour's recommendation. Kashima prepares sushi for take-out only. I have been ordering a "small" sushi-sashimi combo. The sashimi is plentiful, very fresh and delicious, and the sushi also of excellent quality. The portions of wasabi and ginger are large and taste as if they were prepared especially for each order. The combo includes a small salad and a generous portion of miso soup. The price in view of the quality is extremely reasonable. Since discovering Kashima I have become a regular customer ( at least once a week), and l recommend it highly to those who appreciate good quality sushi and sashimi. For many years I lived in Vancouver, where sushi was plentiful, high quality, and reasonably priced. Kashima is the first restaurant I have found in Montreal that compares well to the sushi restaurants I enjoyed in Vancouver.“

“A friend recommended this cosy awesome restaurant and today, I was passing by and decided to discover LeDon Donburi. Honestly the appetizer and main dish was delicious. The desert was succulent, I practically licked the bowl clean… actually a client was sitting nearby and said to me: “you know we all lick the bowl”. LOL The owner behind the counter is quite cool and has great conversation. Next time, I come out of the country, I’ll stop by again and hang out. I think they are open 4 pm till 10 pm, 5 days a week… reasonable hours, means for a business owner like myself, who comes to town every now and then. I’ll have time to come back and eat a great meal after my errands, before heading up home up north. It’s lovely to eat well till 10 pm! :-) Even the customers are cool! “A beautiful little Japanese restaurant with a very warm welcome. It was the first time I ate nigiri, it wasn't to my taste but I could still see the excellent quality of the fish. The daikon starter, sake and mochi were very good though. The only downside was the service was a bit long but it was still bearable. If you like raw fish dishes, I think this is a must.“

This is also a great place to bring a date or have a chat with a friend. Music is tasteful yet not so loud you can't hear each other speak. (Other restos, take note!)

“Very good Izakaya, I recommend the tasting menu at $45 per person for 3 or 4 people, it allows you to have a good tour of the menu, we were able to test 12 items from the menu :)

My favorite dishes: sarada ramen, candy salmon, beek tataki, okonomiyaki (flatter and spicier than those in Japan), karaage
I also liked: takoyaki, gyoza, pokuribu
Not a big fan: tarutaru, gyudon, gomae, godzilla dessert

“My last restaurant visit on my roadtrip to Montreal after a floor New York. I had the seared Taylor seared tuna and it was great. I had a Japanese soda with floating balls. They didn’t have takoyaki but a side salad with squid. The atmosphere was great and the ladies who served me were fantastic. It was better than the Japanese places in Pensacola. I don’t know when I’ll be back in Montreal but I’ll try to head there again.“

It wasn't my first visit so I'm happy to see that the quality is consistent. Everything was delicious and we couldn't get enough of the salmon sashimi and the sushi there. The staff was nice and my friends and I had a great time, definitely recommend for group dinners and dates! :) I'll take photos next time I go!“
