“Went with my son last week for the first time and had the muscles and chicken wings, both of which were incredible. We brought home the mac and cheese, dumplings and seasonal bread pudding. Everything was fantastic. we agreed it is the best restaurant around. I went again tonight with my husband. We had the friend oyster appetizer special and filet, both of which were incredible. Debbie was our waitress, and she was absolutely fantastic. So friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!“

“Bon Vue was one of our “go to” bars for a couple beers and food, but disappointed recently at being charged $9 for a whalers rise draft on a Thursday afternoon, off season. For a dive bar, that’s excessive.“

“Super nice staff, yummy food, on a deck by the sea. What more can you ask for? Well, for me, I could ask for a vegetarian entre. I chose this restaurant based on an old menu that showed eggplant parmesan. But that was last year’s menu. This year there are none. BUT the cook whipped up pasta primavera for me on request. We had fried pickles, coconut shrimp, beet and arugula salad, the pasta primavera, and a couple of cocktails. All were nicely prepared and delicious. I’ll add photos of the updated menu.“

“Ralph opened this place up in the middle of the pandemic with virtually no customer base. My friends and I randomly discovered it and were some of his first regulars, and we kept the lights on and helped him out through the winter. My favorite college bar when I was back at URI, and every college bar is a tough scene, if you can't handle it don't go. Ralph is a stand up gentleman“

“We were vacationing in Newport from Wisconsin and stopped in at Cappy’s. Sue the bartender was friendly and a wonderful bartender. The owner Joe, what can I say….what a guy! Joe saw us walking to our Airbnb and yelled at us on the street asking when we were headed back home. Joe is a gem of a bartender. He has a gift of gab and can hand out the bs too. Nice local establishment with friendly customers and bartenders. We had Dan as a bartender too and he was a friendly, great guy! “My wife & I were there on July 26 with friends for dinner. I had the Shepard Pie which was excellent and my wife had salmon which was great too. The other people had pizza. For our waitress we had KATHERINE who was exceptional. Thank you for having her on your staff.“

“After reading these comments, I just had to chime in.

First off, if you are a sailor, this is your home away from home. You’ll meet other sailors with fantastic stories.

Secondly, if you are not use to the ball busting style of a RI bar tender, don’t come here. You won’t understand. (Hence the reviews from “out of towners.”). But, if you have a backbone and a respectful, yet smart mouth, you will be right at home.

“Came across this pub after looking at many menus along Thames St. This one looked most appealing to us. Definitely a great cozy pub with some authentic touches and great pints on draft. Started off with boxty as an appetizer which were delicious. Entrees were impossible burger and busker burger both great and flame grilled. Now for the pints a huge selection including my favorite Guinness, but one I’ve been searching for on tap is O’Hara’s, and the search is over. Great pour and great fusion Blacksmith. Stop in you won’t regret it!“

Seating is always quick, and the service is prompt, friendly, and attentive. The lobster rolls—both chilled and hot—are excellent every time. We also appreciate the option to choose between traditional fries, sweet potato fries, or a salad, allowing for a bit of flexibility while still enjoying a favorite dish. What an amazing dining experience we had at Hooked last night! It was our first time dining outside this season, and we’re so glad we chose Hooked. From start to finish, everything was outstanding.
Shelby, our server, was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and truly embodied the spirit of hospitality. She genuinely cared about making our evening special, and it absolutely showed.
The food was fabulous — no surprise with the talented Scales crew behind it all! And the dirty martini with hand-stuffed blue cheese olives was perfectly crafted and absolutely on point.
Overall, it was a truly memorable evening, and a huge shoutout to Shelby for making the experience so exceptional. We can’t wait to come back!“

Roasted red peppers no longer available as a burger topping and the bacon seemed thinner. Staff kept apologizing about what seemed to us a perfectly reasonable wait for the food ordered after 8pm on a weeknight; I hope new management isn't causing too much stress.)

Our most frequent choice for dinner when neither of us wants to cook and we're out of leftovers. Good variety of food; preparation and flavors are consistently better than average compared to other pub/restaurant places we've visited while traveling. The main dining room can get a bit loud when full.“

Marina was clean dock hands were quick with line handling Nice bar to listen to live music either at bar or on boat. Dog friendly marina too. We will definitely be back.“

“Honestly a great cozy breakfast spot right at the bottom of the hotel which makes it super convenient if your trying to get something to eat either first thing in the morning or at the end of your night, the food is also super good so you can't go wrong with anything you pick!“
