“My go-to order in most places would be a Reuben. The quality of the meat, bread and the balance with the sauerkraut, sauce & cheese say a lot about how the restaurant approaches their food. The 02878 is the best Reuben sandwich I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Now I will have to find another go-to for other restaurants because they will pale in comparison to Localz 02878.“

“We were vacationing in Newport from Wisconsin and stopped in at Cappy’s. Sue the bartender was friendly and a wonderful bartender. The owner Joe, what can I say….what a guy! Joe saw us walking to our Airbnb and yelled at us on the street asking when we were headed back home. Joe is a gem of a bartender. He has a gift of gab and can hand out the bs too. Nice local establishment with friendly customers and bartenders. We had Dan as a bartender too and he was a friendly, great guy! “We were her last year and had to stop by again. From North Dakota. Great chill spot. Good music. Good beverages. We’ll be back later this week for their awesome sandwiches. Highly recommend for getting out of the packed places and grabbing a relaxing happy hour.“

“Wow! Glad we drove to Fall River to try this place. I love Mozambique and usually I am bummed because most places serve subpar Mozambique. Not Casa. Their Mozambique was not only seasoned and spicy but it was delicious and perfection. Will be back! Great service and food.
Perfect for a date, for a family, or even just by yourself. Bar was loud but there was a game on so not a big deal as there is a door and a big wall between both dining room and bar area. Saw a pool table. Nice!

Edit/Update: Just left. Like right now. It was not as good. It was better and even perfect. We asked who cooked and the server said she did and we were already impressed and that pushed the whole meal and experience over the top. Great staff and more than amazing food.
We got the arancini again and were very satisfied. 3 huge fried balls of stuffed rice in a delicious sauce for $8! Shared a Fish Combo platter. Huge fried juicy shrimp, great scallops, the calamari (something I tend to not like) was perfect. Chewy but tender and crispy. The fish was flaky, juicy, and the exterior was crunchy. The chef is either a witch or one of my favorite cooks. Ever. I mean this.

Mission burger, has accomplished this for me. As a chef and person that has worked 35 years in the industry, I am extremely grateful for the burger I had last night. My wife had the hot dogs and they were amazing as well.

“My dad and I went to Jack’s Family Restaurant this weekend. My dad and I live in Pennsylvania, but with recent family events we’ve found ourselves in Rhode Island a few times within the last month. My dad said Jack’s looked “the same as it always did,” and he smiled the entire time. We ordered the little necks casino, clam cakes, clam chowder, and seafood zuppa (and we splurged and got the lobster). Everything was great! We thank the staff and chefs for a wonderful experience. “My waitress was great and bring Murphy, my gsd, was a great treat. The Gorgonzola burger was tasty and made to my request. The club fries were awesome and the rest brought home. Never have I brought fries home.“

“We are sorry it took us so long to discover The Square Peg. Cozy, old colonial vibe, delicious fall sangria and scrumptious comfort food. Our first visit was a perfect complement to our day visiting farm stands and enjoying a beautiful October Saturday. A bonus is that the location could rival Salem in October minus the crowds. Just perfect. We loved the chili with sour cream, cheese and onions on top, the patty melt and the ahi tuna tacos. All were delicious and reasonably priced. We look forward to visiting many times.“

“If you don’t like this place I don’t know what to tell you. It’s packed with old Portuguese guys who all know each other from the Azores drinking at 1PM. I am very Irish but it is far better than anything I’ve found in my ancestral homeland. 5 Stars. Use it for drinking and food.“

She knew exactly what we were going to need having two kids under 4 with us. This is my favorite place in Newport and they hit the mark yet again.“

First off, if you are a sailor, this is your home away from home. You’ll meet other sailors with fantastic stories.

Secondly, if you are not use to the ball busting style of a RI bar tender, don’t come here. You won’t understand. (Hence the reviews from “out of towners.”). But, if you have a backbone and a respectful, yet smart mouth, you will be right at home.
