“As half of a hungry, grumpy couple heading north after a wonderful stay in Newport, we were about to give up on finding a 'decent' place for lunch. The Rt. 114 stretch was becoming increasingly barren.

Then The Publick House appeared on our left, with people sitting outside and a welcoming deep green 'home' drawing us in ... a crazy uturn at 65 mph got us there ...

The obvious sports bar atmosphere was very cool, with star-filled photos and jerseys covering every wall -- ALL signed by some of the greatest athletes to play professional sports in the USA -- a veritable paradise for fans and collectors alike.

Well, I've already spent too many words on a long-winded 'intro' ... but the food was over-the-top amazing ... from sweet-fried cauliflower bites to a queso-corn dip with tasty chips ... and fish and chips with fresh haddock ... and a California Bowl topped with perfectly grilled shrimp! Honestly, we were a bit shocked at the quality and the flavors .... and the welcoming service and attention from Nicole -- it was a very big WOW! .... and a perfect ending to our trip.

We will be back some time. And if you haven't had The Publick House ecperience, get there soon -- you will not regret it ...“

“We enjoyed having breakfast at this wonderful place while in Newport, RI. The people who own it and those who work there are AMAZING, friendly, and take the time to talk to customers while keeping service at the top of their list. They (from the kitchen to the front door) look like they love working there and have created a loving family environment. Of course, the line was out the door and down the street, but that was okay because everyone enjoyed visiting each other. There is just one warning, the portions are enormous. You know when my husband can't finish it, it's a lot. 🤣“

“Today we made a pilgrimage to Basil Yu’s restaurant, Yagi Noodles. My son happened to see that Basil had become a successful restaurateur while he was watching one of Guy Fieri’s shows. We had become acquainted with Basil when we were all involved with a Boy Scout Troop in Manchester NH. We were disappointed to discover that Basil wasn’t at the restaurant, however we got over it when we found out it was due to a commitment to a fundraiser for the James Beard Foundation. “Nice place. Theirs job is really coffee i belived :) You can see them roasting and packaging there. Prices are fair. It has a great coffee smell. There are tables inside and outside if you want to hang out. You can buy their own products and packaged coffees. I bought a latte, the coffee was really fresh. I think it has a few awards too. “Awesome place. So glad this place exists as there's not a ton of healthy offerings in the area.

The owner Paul is so nice and his staff is so friendly. I'm always greeted with a smile.

I especially love getting a juice from here after yoga around the corner, but from time to time I'll get a smoothie or the coconut bacon BLT. The BLT is just as good as real bacon, I think there's some kind of black magic involved in the recipe.

The atmosphere is nice, especially sitting out front and watching the people walk by. Very enjoyable on a nice sunny day.“

Ordering was easy, Steph ensured we had a great variety and enough to feed the post-wedding crowd. We did have breakfast here and it was stellar! “I could not be happier with the Guild. Our family recently held a celebration of life for my father in law who recently passed away and we where fortunate to be able to book The Nook for our family and friends. Machala was so accommodating and our bartender Ann was also phenomenal. The location is so beautiful located directly on the waterfront. They did an amazing job catering as well. The food was a huge hit. All who attended where quite impressed and can't wait to return to have lunch and dinner in the main restaurant. They made us feel so welcome and made a very sad occasion a very positive and comforting one. I can't thank them enough. An amazing atmosphere and great food. “First visit to Chomp, RI while visiting its newest chef and son in law, Max. Wow this place was hopping. Excellent atmosphere with hysterical signage. I like the window to the kitchen so you can see the chefs and it affords easy access to the plates for the wait staff. McKenna was our waitress and she was Great - attentive and helpful on suggestions. The food was Excellent! All their items are made in house - sauces, dressings, toppings, Burgers, Corned Beef etc!We started with the salt and vinegar Sprouts - oh the flavor and the bacon fat mmm, mmm!!! Then we had the Classic Smash Burger with a GF bun for our GF daughter! Outstanding! Then the wife had the Mediterranean Burger - really tasty! And I had the Truffle Shuffle Burger with Truffle fries- oh Yum! Flavorful and nice and hot off the griddle! “Attended a coat drive at Canned Heat Brewery in Fall River, hosted by YPG New England and United Way of New Bedford. The brewery was a fantastic venue for the event, located right on the water with plenty of parking. Inside, Canned Heat has a great vibe—awesome music and a welcoming atmosphere. Make sure to check out their kitchen while you’re there. The beers were excellent, with fun names like 'Where’s the Freakin Clickah' and 'Witch Doctah,' each showcasing that classic New England pronunciation. I’ll definitely be back to check this spot out again in the future!“

“We were vacationing in Newport from Wisconsin and stopped in at Cappy’s. Sue the bartender was friendly and a wonderful bartender. The owner Joe, what can I say….what a guy! Joe saw us walking to our Airbnb and yelled at us on the street asking when we were headed back home. Joe is a gem of a bartender. He has a gift of gab and can hand out the bs too. Nice local establishment with friendly customers and bartenders. We had Dan as a bartender too and he was a friendly, great guy! “We’ve had a couple meals at the Helmway and they were delicious! The calamari is crispy and done just right, the harvest salad is excellent! The scallops were done to perfection…sweet and tender. The lobster risotto is excellent too! We had the cinnamon toast bread pudding…just wow!! The wine selection is just right! We’ll definitely go back and highly recommend the Helmway!! “An impressive new(ish) facility in an unassuming location, especially because we live nearby and never noticed the place until they put a big new sign out on the road. Bright, modern, and clean. Inside is a bit fancier than expected, in a good way, compared to the back outdoor patio and lounge area, which is really nice in its own right. Just a good vibe all around and good folk working there. On a warm day, the outdoor bar and cornhole can’t be beat. Selection is solid, as they’ve updated their beer offerings to keep up with the hazy IPA trend. They could use some food trucks or something to eat, especially on the weekends, as they only sell beverages.

Update for October 2024 now that Wally’s has officially moved in to sell their delicious food right out of the kitchen! Trivia Thursdays are fun and the food is great, ranging from dogs to fried chicken to burgers. Had a couple tasty lagers, as well. Good to see their lager game is strong.“
