“Friends and I met here, Sunday of Labor Day weekend. They’d already been another time and were excited to try the dinner menu. Because of the timing and the slight passing sprinkle, we were seated quickly on the rail outside. We decided to order some apps to share and after eating them, ordered entrees. In addition to loving the calamari, we enjoyed the crudo so much that we ordered another serving. Both couples shared burgers which were excellent. The cucumber salad was good but I won’t be dreaming about it the same way I will be all the seafood items we ordered. We finished up the evening with ice cream cones. I didn’t try any of the cocktails as the friends I was with are wine drinkers and had ordered a bottle before I arrived. The plastic cutlery and glassware weren’t ideal but I can understand how this is a challenge for them given their location and setup. Will definitely be back soon!“

“Very disappointed. My husband says try again on a weekend day. Went Monday 4pm. Food was terrible. Fish was completely dried out. Shrimp cocktail was slimy and sour. Good service. Lovely view. However won't be back“

“I have been to many asian food restaurants as I traveled in Asia and especially China, Jayd Bun is by far one of the best asian food experiences I have had over the years. The food was absolutely amazing. The flavors combined with spices and the noodles were incredible. So if you enjoy a spicy asian food, Jayd Bun is the place to get it. It’s a take out order but taking advantage of the suggestions of getting this takeout food to a few local places where you can drink and enjoy Jayd Bun food. Our favorite food were the Yo Po, Jayd Noodles and of course the buns.“

“We had another wonderful meal at The Food Shack tonight. My dad and I shared the nachos which were superb and my daughter enjoyed her rice bowl. And don’t forget a side of plantains! Also they serve local beer now which is a bonus. You need to eat here!“

“We enjoyed having breakfast at this wonderful place while in Newport, RI. The people who own it and those who work there are AMAZING, friendly, and take the time to talk to customers while keeping service at the top of their list. They (from the kitchen to the front door) look like they love working there and have created a loving family environment. Of course, the line was out the door and down the street, but that was okay because everyone enjoyed visiting each other. There is just one warning, the portions are enormous. You know when my husband can't finish it, it's a lot. 🤣“

“I took my wife there today for lunch for the first time. We made the 30-minute trek and we were not disappointed. I had Bluto's Chicken Sandwich and my wife had the Chickpea Wrap. OUTSTANDING! I would recommend to anyone looking for a good Vegan spot 👍“

“Root in Newport — Newport’s only fully vegan spot, and everything feels so fresh. It’s such a cute, cozy little place with a couple of outdoor tables right on the sidewalk, so our pup could join us. We intentionally ate light since we had dinner at Foglia later. I got the Just Egg Violife cheese on an English muffin. It was tasty and well prepared, but not especially unique. I’m wondering if they’d add some of their coconut bacon from the BLT to the breakfast sandwich next time to take it up a level! Hubby got the avocado toast, which was creamy and bright with pickled onion — really tasty. They also have more unique options like the chickpea salad sandwich and coconut bacon BLT that I’d love to try next time when we’re not trying to keep things light. Afterward, we headed to Fort Adams, which is pup-friendly, and finished with some Del’s watermelon. Such a fun Newport day!“

“In the summer we frequent the tiki bar on the beach. In the winter we will go here regularly to relax at the upper bar and watch the boats go by. Great food, service and atmosphere. The upper bars gets a little loud when crowded but not bad.“

“Today we made a pilgrimage to Basil Yu’s restaurant, Yagi Noodles. My son happened to see that Basil had become a successful restaurateur while he was watching one of Guy Fieri’s shows. We had become acquainted with Basil when we were all involved with a Boy Scout Troop in Manchester NH. We were disappointed to discover that Basil wasn’t at the restaurant, however we got over it when we found out it was due to a commitment to a fundraiser for the James Beard Foundation. Basil, You weren’t there, but your food is delicious. You get the Merit Badge! You weren’t there, but your staff is spectacular! You get the Merit Badge! We wish you continued success! “We were vacationing in Newport from Wisconsin and stopped in at Cappy’s. Sue the bartender was friendly and a wonderful bartender. The owner Joe, what can I say….what a guy! Joe saw us walking to our Airbnb and yelled at us on the street asking when we were headed back home. Joe is a gem of a bartender. He has a gift of gab and can hand out the bs too. Nice local establishment with friendly customers and bartenders. We had Dan as a bartender too and he was a friendly, great guy! “If you’re coming to visit Newport and haven’t heard of Jo’s, it’s because it’s a hidden gem! Amazing local farm-to-table options that keep us and those who visit us asking to go back to that one place in Newport, I really loved! The service to guests with one or more allergies was superb! The chef personally came to our table on each visit to discuss what meals were safe to order. I have multiple allergies, so sometimes they would have made me my own off-the-menu special dish. I’ve never gotten sick once, and everyone who goes there with us when they visit always asks to go back on their next trip! ♥️“

“Steph and the team at scratch were SUPERB! Our catering order was perfect (tho we were sad the croissant machine was down) every thing was piping hot (or nice an cool). Everything was SOOO good.
