“Tasty food, friendly staff, cozy local vibe! Good times in a good place. Tucked in just off the main drag of old Wakefield, they serve breakfast and lunch - the yummy traditional
comfort food that makes for good times! I am on a heart health diet, so I had the oatmeal and fresh fruit plate! delish! I tried the flavored coffee for fun and loved it - they even had almond and oat milk! My brother got an omelette with spinach and tomato - looked and smelled amazing - he loved it! Also nice thick toast - lots of butter available.Our table also had other egg dishes with bacon and toast - delicious! Our waitress, Desiree, was wonderful - warm, friendly, fast appeared with anything we wanted at lightning speed even though Meldgies was full and busy! The staff worked together to keep things going and made it look effortless! i can see why this spot is so popular! What a gem! Come before 7 and you can see the locals having a great breakfast before going off to work - always the sign of a great place!!“

I've seen the photos, heard the stories, and listened to people debate one question over and over again... "Is it REALLY worth $145 per person?" 👀 Well, after finally making the trip out to Charlestown to experience it for myself (15yrs ago was my last visit), I can officially answer that question. Absolutely. ☝🏾❤️ The moment I pulled onto the property, I knew this wasn't your typical restaurant. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous, the atmosphere was incredible, and there was an excitement in the air that immediately made the place feel more like a destination than simply somewhere to eat. Before I even walked through the front door, I was welcomed by Owen, who gave me a ride from the overflow parking lot to the entrance in a golf cart. It may seem like a small thing, but it was the first example of the hospitality I experienced throughout the evening. Much love Owen ☝🏾❤️ Once inside, I met Jake and Kory, fourth-generation family members whose great-grandparents started The Nordic back in 1963. Hearing a little of the history behind the restaurant only added to the experience. As I explored the property, it became clear why this place has earned such a legendary reputation throughout New England. The dining rooms were packed, the buffet stations stayed busy, and everywhere I looked people were carrying plates loaded with lobster, crab legs, prime rib, seafood, desserts, and just about everything else you could imagine. I was also fortunate to meet Kat, who many of you specifically told me to look for during my visit, along with several other staff members throughout the evening. I even had the opportunity to meet numerous B.A.R.R. fans who stopped by to say hello, introduce themselves, and share their experiences at The Nordic. Those interactions helped make an already memorable evening even more enjoyable. But y'all already know... A beautiful atmosphere and friendly people only gets you halfway there. 🤷🏾‍♂️😀 The food STILL has to raise the B.A.R.R. 😏🔥 So here's how a Brotha attacked it... 1️⃣ Plate #1 - First Station 💣 THE BOMB I started with the seafood station, loaded with lobster, snow crab legs, and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you'd hope for from one of the most talked-about seafood destinations in New England. It was the perfect way to start the evening. 2️⃣ Plate #2 - Second Station 💣 THE BOMB My second plate came from another seafood station and featured a variety of offerings including pork ribs, stuffed shrimp, clams, conch salad, and several other items. Once again, the quality remained impressive across the board. Fresh ingredients, great flavor, and plenty of variety. At this point I was beginning to understand why people travel from all over New England to eat here. 3️⃣ Plate #3 - Third Station 💣 THE BOMB The third station featured many of the specialty items, including prime rib, filet mignon, fried shrimp, and sea scallops. Yooooo B.A.R.R. fans... This station was outstanding. 🥰🔥 The prime rib was tender, flavorful, and cooked beautifully. The filet mignon was excellent, and the seafood continued to impress. By this point I was already getting full, but the quality never dropped off. Everything continued to deliver. 4️⃣ Dessert Station 🍰 DELICIOUS By the time I reached the dessert station, a Brotha was running out of available storage space. 😭🤣 After three full plates of food, a Brotha was definitely feeling it. 😭🤣 But somehow I still managed to find room for dessert. The dessert station offered a huge variety of sweet treats and was the perfect ending to an already incredible meal. 🏁 MY FINAL THOUGHTS: Let me Keep It Real B.A.R.R. fans... We have been going since we moved here in 2020, and have taken multiple out-of-state guests who also love it and always ask to go back! If you have multiple food allergies, like gluten, dairy, and nuts, they are also great at accommodating! I haven’t gotten sick once yet! It was also the first restaurant our August newborn went to in 2022; his current favorite is fried shrimp and fries! Highly recommend Jimmy’s for the food, the iconic Block Island ferry atmosphere, and the hardworking, loving family who are wicked friendly when they aren’t immensely busy. We will be there next month for the first time this year! 🥳“
