Southbound Steakhouse is a gem, and we’ll absolutely be returning soon. Highly recommend for a fantastic meal, stellar service and dope atmosphere!

“This is the best BBQ we’ve found in the CSRA in the last three years. My wife and I shared a 2-meat and a 3-meat plate (we got the chopped beef, chopped pork, wings, sausage, and ribs) with green beans, potato salad, baked beans, macaroni & cheese, and cornbread as sides. The kids were less adventurous, opting for chicken tenders with mac & cheese and fries on the side.

Everything we got was delicious and portioned appropriately. None of the meats needed sauce, but the BBQ sauce they provided was also great. Even my wife loved it - and she hates the more mustard-and-vinegary BBQ sauces.

The only improvements I would like to see — and which weren’t a big enough deal to give them less than five stars — are: the cornbread was a little dry; the potato salad could have used more mustard; and I wasn’t able to try the coleslaw, but hopefully I will the next time!

The service was as expected for ordering at the counter, and the young woman at the register was a delight!

There’s not a lot of ambience in the place. Basic diner tables and a television on the back wall that was just playing music. The place closes at 7:00, and we got there at 6:00. We didn’t plan to stay and eat, and were back at home in Grovetown enjoying everything by 7:00.

Parking: There are only 4-5 actual parking spots, but there any a lot of seating to need dozens of spots either.“

“Growing up in Augusta, I grew up on Sconyers. I still love to eat it when I’m in the area. The small pork plate is always plenty for me. Their portions are pretty good in size. They have the best hash in the country. If you haven’t been to Sconyers, you need to go. They also have a drive thru.
I do miss the ladies wearing the old fashioned dresses. They have updated to overalls.“

“Every time we come back to town, getting Mots is a must. We love their pulled pork and hash and rice but haven’t had anything there we haven’t liked! We have tried hash and rice other places and have yet to find anything comparable to our favorite, Mots!“

“I live in lincolnton. I can’t go to Evans without going to Goolsby’s. I’ve tried it all and it’s great. My favorite meal there is the fried loin, collards, black eyed peas(with some stewed tomatoes in the middle of them. Fried Cornbread. And last but not least…. Some of the best sweet potatoe soufflé you can get. That right there make you slap yourself.“

“Wife had a taste for BBQ, Bobby's is close by and I remembered the hash from last time. Never had take out, usually dined in on the buffet. Got two large plates with pulled pork, hash and rice and two sides. Think it was $11 a plate and you will stuff if you eat it all, I did, but she couldn't even put a dent in it. Way plenty food for the price. BBQ was tender, hash is my favorite, sides good. Don't know why he gets some bad reviews, can't please everyone I guess. They need to stay home and spend eight hours smoking a butt. I use to, but this is not competition BBQ, it is good food for the money.“

“Love this place. The owner, Mr. Johnny is very hospitable and very friendly. The food is absolutely amazing. We love the brunch brisket sandwich it's absolutely perfection. Our daughter loves their mac and cheese.

Parking: It's on the front and on the side of the restaurant. We never had a problem finding a parking spot there.

Kid-friendliness: Hight chairs are available, and the staff are very friendly with kids.“

It is hard to find workers who go above and beyond and make a long day worth the visit! She is a keeper! An asset to this establishment for sure!“

“I had previously rated them at 4* but last time I was in for lunch they were out of draft beer which is on the lunch special menu. Neither the bartender of manager offered to give a regular bottle in place of it. This isn't a price issue for me, it's a politeness issue. I know running my own business I would have, so they lose a star for sure.“
