“My friends and I were craving Banh Beo and this is one of the best places to get some for its price point. We ordered 48 in total and I honestly could ve gotten more but everyone else was starting to get full. They are truly addicting to eat. The textures you get in your mouth from the soft rice pancakes and crunchy toppings make eating them so satisfying.
We tried some other things on the menu as well.
The banh bot loc was great and had the nice chewy texture I was looking for. The cha oc personally wasn't for me but my other friend loved it and ordered seconds. The nem nuong ninh hoa was a good starter but I wish it came with vermicelli noodles. I tried the banh ram it for the first time and it was another interesting mix of textures. And of course, the fish sauce complimented every dish wonderfully. I will be back for sure to try and order as much banh beo possible.
Bun Bo Hue is solid and a good portion. Nem nuong spring rolls are good as well!“

“I visited this place yesterday. Not sure how long it's been there but it is currently fighting for my favorite place to get Bahn mi. The meatball bahn mi was.... wetter than I'm use to, but But BUT OMG the flavor is ALL there! That grilled pork tho! What can I say? If I lived closer I would be standing outside waiting for them to open....ev VA re day. Being the big back that I am there are thing I would do a lil different. But I'm telling this is one of them places that will be getting my money even if I have to dig in my couch, raid my car, rob my kids or just work like a good father. Remember this is just one fat boy's opinion. Try it for yourself, you might like it. Then again.... you might not. I will be back that is both a threat and a promise!🥰“

“South x Saigon did not miss! 🙌 The lemon honey pepper wings with fries were sooo tasty, the egg rolls were perfectly crispy, and the Bò Lúc Lắc was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Oh, and the gumbo? 🔥 Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend if you’re craving flavor!
Sorry didn’t get all the pics was focused on all the great food.

“The jasmine cream bubble tea actually had enough bubbles to last me through the entire tea! Tea itself was spot-on: I could taste the jasmine and the cream and it had just the right amount of sweetness. The chicken banh mi was delicious! Good, crusty bread with really tasty chicken and the right ratio of bread to fillings. The right amount of food, too. I was comfortably full but not overwhelmingly stuffed to the gills. 10/10, will eat here again! I’m looking forward to trying more of the menu :D“

“First time trying this place based on an article I saw from Eatery and it did not disappoint! It was so satisfying that I decided to write this 5 star review right away. I got the banh mi thit nuong (bbq pork baguette) and the seasoning was just right with a slight buttery taste on the baguette. The baguette was soft and fluffy yet still maintained a little crispiness on the outside but not to where it will injure the upper roof of your mouth. Anyway the banh mi thit nuong reminds me of this other place I used to love but stopped going there because quality went down. Glad I tried this place and this will be my go-to banh mi shop from now on! I will definitely be back to try the other banh mi! I hope they maintain their quality!“

“I have been to this Hương Sen restaurant a few times. Today, my friend and I came here for a late lunch. Their food always tastes so good. I like their ginger lemongrass cold tea drink; it's so refreshing. The restaurant is very small and cozy, but it has beautiful decorations and a temple interior design. Their service is always good. The owner is a very nice person. I would definitely recommend that everyone come here to try out their vegetarian dishes. You won't be disappointed.“

“This was a takeout order so please consider that. We ordered the TX BBQ Brisket Fried Rice, Crawfish & Garlic Noodles, Pork Belly Skewers, and Mom's Eggrolls. I can't lie. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!! My only complaints are that the lettuce on Mom's Eggrolls had a bit of wilt on the tips, and the overall price of the food. For that price point, I expect crisp, FRESH, lettuce. But other than that, OMG!!! The tang on the garlic crawfish & noodles was outstanding!!! The fish sauce is subtle but enhances the bite of the Mom's Eggrolls amazingly! The noodles in the crawfish &... were plump and tender. The brisket in the fried rice was just the right amount of bite & chew. Outstanding flavors overall! I just can't afford to eat here.“

Pho ve Dem is my go-to spot whenever I’m craving pho! The broth is so rich and flavorful, and the portions are just right. But honestly, the highlight of every visit is the amazing service from DJ (the cool server with the awesome earring and tattoos—seriously, you can’t miss it!).
He’s always super friendly, quick with recommendations, and makes you feel at home. You can tell he genuinely cares about making sure everyone has a great experience.
If you’re looking for delicious pho and service that makes you want to keep coming back, this is the place. Ask for DJ—you won’t regret it!

“I really like this place, the pho is amazing, strong flavor, fresh ingredients, the ginger sauce you get is soooo good, but the biggest downside is the inaccuracy of their hours & days open. 3 times in a row I have tried to come at various times & different days of the weeks, and it has been closed. Please update your hours so i can give you my money lol“

“Very authentic, delicious, flavorful Vietnamese food if you are looking for something different than phở. We ordered the bún đạu mắm tôm, bánh khọt, and grilled scallops. #1 standout to me was how fresh tasting the organ meats were, which is a testament to how well they were thoroughly cleaned during preparation. We only came here during our vacation, but if we lived in the state we would be coming here every week!“

“The best pho in all of Houston is now in Katy. We used to drive to Bellaire just to eat at the original location and it’s always jam packed. I’m elated that we have a location close to home now. Viet foodie approved and is non nom good and nutritious because they use real bones for their broth. No fake mass produced seasoning packs here! The flavor is always consistently perfect. The staff is always welcoming, attentive and friendly. You can tell they are craft proud!“

“Tucked away off the beaten path in Houston, Quan Ba Ky is a no-frills Vietnamese restaurant that delivers traditional flavors at an unbeatable value. It’s the kind of place that feels like a homey, Mom-and-Pop operation—complete with worn tables, Vietnamese TV shows playing in the background, and a karaoke machine tucked away in the back. There's something undeniably charming about the unpretentious atmosphere, and honestly, what's not to like? It feels authentic, welcoming, and, most importantly, focused on the food.
We visited on an early Saturday evening, and initially, the place was quiet. But as we neared 6-7 PM, the dining room began to fill with a steady stream of Vietnamese patrons, always a good sign that the place is beloved by those who know best.
We started with a round of Viet Cajun-style crawfish—a seasonal treat when fresh, but since it was off-season, the crawfish were frozen. Still, they were flavorful, and you could tell they’d be even better if we’d hit them at peak season. The seasoning was on point, with just the right amount of spice and buttery richness, though the crawfish themselves weren’t as tender as they might have been if fresh. No complaints, though—it's clear the place does its best to provide a taste of a regional specialty even when it’s not in full swing.
The real standout, however, was the Bún Sườn soup. This dish has been getting attention on social media, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The broth was rich and flavorful, the perfect balance of savory and umami, and it came packed with an assortment of seafood, noodles, and herbs that made every bite exciting. Whether you’re a fan of seafood or just enjoy a hearty bowl of noodle soup, this dish is a must-try. It’s the kind of comforting, satisfying food that makes you want to come back for more.
We also decided to try one of their limeade drinks, which was refreshing and tart, making it the ideal pairing with the spicy, seafood-heavy soup. The cool drink provided a nice contrast to the warmth of the broth and helped cleanse the palate between bites.
The service was also top-notch. The owner, who served us, was kind and attentive throughout the meal, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring we were well taken care of. There’s something genuinely warm about the experience, which adds to the overall appeal of the place.
And the best part? The total bill for two people came to just around $30—an incredible value for the quality and quantity of food we received. In a city full of trendy spots, Quan Ba Ky’s combination of great food, generous portions, and affordable prices is a real standout.
If you’re looking for traditional Vietnamese food with a homey feel and a focus on quality, look no further than Quan Ba Ky. It's not flashy or trendy, but it’s authentic, delicious, and an excellent value. Highly recommended!
Vegetarian options: Several options
Parking: Lots of free parking right in front of the restaurant
Kid-friendliness: Not very kid friendly if they are picky or not into Viet food
Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs and plenty of room to navigate a wheelchair“

“Wow this was my first time ordering from this restaurant and I am so impressed! Impressed with how delicious their roast duck and salted oven shrimp were. The shrimp is jumbo sized and so flavorful. The duck was just the way I like it, crispy skin and soft on the inside. The sauce that comes with it, tops it off! The lady who took my order was so welcoming and so sweet. I love her!! I will definitely be back next time I’m in Houston! Thank you!!“

“Great food! They have prepared food to take away for lunch or a sit down area for cafeteria style food. It is all delicious. They also have a great grocery selection. An excellent place for vegan food (prepared, frozen, fresh, boxed). The staff is helpful. The fresh tofu is the best tofu I've had. Ask for the tofu pudding, it's one of my favorites.“

“Came in after work for an early dinner and it's surprisingly good. I was in the area and just wanted to try something different. I ordered a regular bun bo hue and nuoc mia (sugar cane drink). Prices are very fair and the bun bo hue was very tasty. Meats include beef shank, pork feet, pork blood and pork sausage. They don't have beef brisket or tendons like other places but it's still good. Fast and friendly service is a plus so I'll definitely come back when I'm in the area“

“I ordered the lunch Cajun Chicken Pho bowl and it was good. I did not like how they made you choose between the side options; bean sprouts was a side all by itself & did not automatically come with the veggies. There is no fried rice option and the prices were high. I needed sustenance before my shift at NRG and this was right across the street. Would I return? No, because I did not feel like I got my money's worth. However, my bowl was empty when I left!“

“So I’ve been all over the US of A hunting for the best Vietnamese Crepe or Pancake (Bánh Xèo). If you read my other reviews then you knew a restaurant in Austin (Sunflower) won that elusive “best” title.
But move over, Sunflower, because now you have been dethroned. The King of all and every Vietnamese Crepes that’ve ever existed, is none other from the ones from Hoang Gia Quan in southwest Houston that is located not quite in the heart of Asian town, but not far from it either.
A total nondescript kind of restaurant sandwiched between 2 other larger nondescript establishments (if you blink you may miss it), Hoang Gia Quan fights, and wins, for its supreme, king-of-all Crepes with grace, deliciousness, uniqueness, crunchiness, premium-ness, and value.
Folks, the almost summa-cum-laude 4.8 star rating of this restaurant on Google Map, as of the time of this review, is real. Stepping inside this restaurant, you will be greeted by the most graceful restaurant owner ever lived. But that’s beside the point, as we are talking about the quality of the food, in particular about the crepe here….So here it goes: a sumptuous crepe dish that is crunchy but not hard, not as crunchy soft as Sunflower’s, but just right. Inside, chunky bits of seafood abound: plumb whole shrimp, juicy scallops, and twisty squid chunks. Each seafood piece is perfectly stir-fried alongside the crepe’s crust, permeating your taste buds with each of their distinct seafood aroma. And this premium seafood “topping” appears to be standard as we are not aware of any other options. That works perfectly fine for us.
And the greens that come with each crepe are as equally sumptuous: lots of it, and unique. You will get green-leaf lettuce, varieties of different herbs, cheery carrot noodles, and a green leaf wrap that we have not experienced anywhere else: “Lá Cải Xanh.” We don’t know the English translation for this green but it perfectly serves as a wrapper to roll the crepe neatly in, ready to be dipped into fish sauce. Lá Cải Xanh is not easy to break as lettuce, as if the leaf has a built-in anti-breakage additive, and has a distinct slightly spicy taste that adds a “kick” to one’s gastronomic experience.
So read this and look at our pictures and decide for yourselves. We travel near and far, almost to all 50 states of the country, and 3 continents. We sample pad thai, tom kha, pho and Vietnamese crepes wherever we go, always try to seek out the best of the best. And to our experienced taste buds, a new King of the Vietnamese Crepes has been born.
And did we mention the restaurant’s owner as the most gracious restauranteur ever lived? She will greet you, bring you shrimp crackers, ask you if everything is alright, and bring you Chè Khoai Môn, a sweet taro root treat, to finish your meal. The restaurant is clean whenever we are there, each tabletop is neatly wrapped in tidy white paper cover, like a present that can’t wait to get unwrapped. And you bet every time we visit Hoang Gia Quan we always have that exciting feel of unwrapping a present of culinary excellency. Indeed.“
