“I went there with a bunch of my college friends and honestly everything was great. Chips and salsa was excellent and the guacamole tasted great. We ordered a few top shelf margaritas pitchers and they were just as strong as he said they would be. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. “I'm not exaggerating when I say this is my favorite place to eat in San Antonio. Located near the airport in a tucked away location, RO-HO Pork & Bread is a hidden gem. This is comfort food at it's finest. Ro-Ho has many great things on the menu, but they are best known for their Torta Ahogada, and it's what I get almost every time. The torta is always hot, the carnitas cooked to perfection, and the tomato salsa is to die for. You can get the torta with straight carnitas or you can mix it up with carnitas, pork stomach and skin, which is what I usually get. The torta also comes with cabbage, onion, radish and lime. No matter how you order it, it's going to be great! The place is super cool, with Mexican artwork and music. There is inside seating and an outside covered patio as well. Everything you can get to drink from the cold case is always ice cold. And they serve one of my favorite Mexican beers, Victoria. Chef Rojo is often around and greets customers. The ladies that work the register and food line are so friendly, and will answer questions if it's your first time. The place fills up quickly at lunch, so keep that in mind. I drive clear across town for my Torta Ahogada fix, if that says anything! Check this place out!“

“We found this place on Google and it was close to our hotel. We all loved it. Everything is made on site or grown locally. My hubby loves "meat porn" so this was his place. When you first walk in, they have their homemade meats hanging in a meat locker. I thought he was going to lose his mind! Pizza and dessert was beyond fantastic! It all is fresh AF. No joke. Even beer and wine is locally sourced. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE WHEN IN SAN ANTONIO.“

My father’s taco order came without the sides but good overall. My father said the bread pudding was fantastic. It’s big enough for two people; he took half home.
Sadly, very few options for those with dietary restrictions. The vegetable I ordered was fine, but not much for dinner.
I was surprised that I was charged twice when I asked for a coffee refill.“

“A great experience! This is definitely a well kept San Antonio secret. Food was excellent with generous portions (lamb chops a must try). Service was prompt, courteous, and answered all our menu questions (ask for Sasha). Building and bathrooms clean. A definite do-again!“

“I have tried almost every Sushi spot in San Antonio and Shiro stands above and beyond everyplace I have been to. Every single piece of Sushi was super fresh and just melts in your mouth, it is honestly going to be hard to go anywhere else after having been to Shiro. The prices definitely reflect the quality and freshness difference compared to other places and is 110% worth it.“

“Had an incredible evening at Battalion tonight celebrating my wife's birthday!! I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and this was a perfect opportunity for a date night. For starters we had the spinach dumplings and the the meatballs, both were delicious but my favorite were the dumplings by far. For our mains we had the lamb chops and the tenderloin, both incredible. For sides we shared the green beans, the cavatappi, and the manacotti pasta. We were so delighted with all of it and almost too full for dessert....but still sampled the smores panna cotta and the tiramisu. Our server was over the top friendly and helpful, assisted with drink selections and never left us waiting or wanting for anything. (I am so sorry I forgot his name, but he even took a picture of us to celebrate the evening!) Thank you for a wonderful evening and a fantastic dinner!! We'll be back again for sure!!“

“The food is interesting, varied, and consistently good, with a rotating menu that keeps things fresh. We have visited twice. During our first visit, the service was good but felt like it was missing a final touch. At this price point, I expected a visit from the sommelier, especially since we were considering purchasing one or two bottles of wine. I was also not asked about any dietary restrictions.

Both times we were seated outside. On the first visit, it was surprising how little effort was made to mask the strip mall setting. On the second visit, the sun was directly in our faces. While that is not entirely the restaurant’s fault, the response was limited to offering an umbrella (which we had to request), and we were told indoor seating was not available.

They were also out of several menu items, which was unexpected given that our reservations were early in the evening. Additionally, this is not a kid-friendly establishment, which is worth noting depending on your plans.

Overall, while the food is good, I am unlikely to return. If I do, it would be for the desserts and the yams, which were excellent.“
