“Food and service were great. Pretty noisy but it was a Saturday evening. We were in the farthest dining area past the patio. The flies were crazy! They need fans in this area. My husband's beer had to be replaced because of the fly in it! People at every table were shooing away flies. Shouldn't be like that when you're eating inside.“

“My online order was ready on-time but one entree was out of stock. The salesperson substituted a different entree at my request and processed the return. The entree that was out-of-stock when I arrived was in-stock when I ordered it. Hopefully, the reservation system will be more accurate in the future.“

“From the patient staff to the patient person smoking the meat, this place does everything right!! Just like you can't rush a good smoke, you shouldn't rush a customer and the guys behind the counter helped each customer with patience, laughter and knowledge. We got it all!! First time in Austin and first BBQ in Texas so we wanted a baseline to compare all other to! At this time, it's gonna be rough for anybody to compare, everything we ate was solid!! The Beef Rib is melt in your mouth, fall off the bone, perfect meat fat ratio, smokey delicious goodness and completely stole the show! The other meats are great with that tender smoked goodness but the beef rib is where it's at! We tried three sides as well and the Mexican Corn is off the chain delicious! Smokey, spicey, creamy and addicting! Black's has been doing this for 90 years and it shows, everything was the best! We'll be back and highly recommend you skip the lines at the other places and head over to The Original Blacks!“

“Our server was Anthony, he was so patient and attentive to our elderly parents and really made us feel like family as cheesy as that is. The service was fantastic, the manager came over to chat and ask how everything was which was a nice touch. The food was delicious and the portions were good sized. We even took advantage of the $10 take away meal they have for our son at home. The hosts held the door for us on the way out and they even had mints! I think this will become a go to spot for us in the future.“

“Place is great! It’s consistent with the service, food and atmosphere. Every single family and friend we’ve gathered with absolutely LOVES this restaurant. We have been coming here for years and the tourists that feel it’s a “tourist trap” need to understand what type of restaurant they are walking into- local, great food, service and family owned. Knockout martini is amazing, Bob Armstrong dip is unbeatable. The burritos and beef fajitas are the best by far. We will continue to support Austin’s favorite Tex mex restaurant and clearly the people that matter will too.“

This location has such fun artwork on the walls, and Mariel went out of her way to make sure we had everything exactly as we liked. “The brisket was ridiculously tender, seasoned just right, and you don’t even need sauce (but the sauce is still good). Portions are generous, the sides actually hit(that mac and cheese??). Not cheap, but 100% worth it.“
