We've rounded up Lake Dallas' top Mexican spots for you to try.
“It was busy when we stopped by. We waited in line inside while the person at the register was talking orders over the phone and the drive-thru. The food was excellent. The service was straightforward and to the point. Will definitely be visiting again!“
“Cute little place with excellent tasting food. I got a taco plate, the food was cooked fresh, and came out relatively quickly. Their barbacoa was pretty good, and the pastor was good as well. I'll definitely be coming back to try their other “
“We stopped here for lunch on the way home as I had a craving for a burrito. Wife and I both got baebicoa burritos which were very tasty. Kids got pancakes and French toast which were also delicious. Will definitely come here again and try more of the menu.“
“Chilito's has great service and excellent food. Myself and a friend came in right before closing time and they served us anyway. That's kind of rare these days. We appreciated it very much. They have very good frozen margaritas too.“
“I adore this spot. The fruit is consistently fresh, with generous servings. In this image, you see just the mixed fruit, but it usually includes delicious chamoy as well. The child assisting their parents is incredibly friendly. Supporting a family-run establishment feels great.“
“I like this location, today Sherry was very nice and attentive, as well as quick and efficient. The food was great as always.I love the free chips! Manuel took care of us today, very attentive and friendly service. Food was great ? I had the chicken tostada and it was great, you can't go wrong with the grilled chicken either.“
“Check out their menu online. If their dishes sounds savory it's because they are. Food is excellently seasoned subtle and delicious. The two taco plate for $14.99 is an amazing bargain. We've been going there since they opened. Never get tired of the place.Parking: Shares large parking lot with Market Street, East side of FM 2499 just north of FM 1171.“
“The food is consistently delicious, but the best part of the experience is the outstanding service. The staff here makes you feel like they actually appreciate you coming in to dine with them. We've been lucky to have Simara be our server and she is fantastic! She remembers what you normally order but also has great suggestions on other great food options. We always look forward to our Friday dates at this location :)“
“Luciana is a magnificent front end representative. The order was taken promptly and with great pride for her position. Would live to invite all to stop at this location as everyone is friendly and willing to help in all means. Atmosphere is joyfully lit up with comfortable music to sit back and enjoy this deliciously and hit the spot food. I will return.“
“We went for Easter brunch this morning. Great atmosphere and service. Especially I have a gluten issue and the buffet are not clearly marked. So when I asked about it, the manager made fresh gluten free enchiladas and taco for me! Did I mention the mimosa? You get two with the buffet? We definitely will go back!“
“I absolutely love this place. First of all, I love burritos and tacos. I eat them way too much. This place makes really good home made food. I enjoy talking to the family that owns this place. The burritos and tacos taste so fresh, which they are.“
“This place is a lot of fun and the food is really great! I love to order the nachos and then to have the toppings piled on. They have a lot of great options and alcohol. They also have ice cream! I’m so happy to have this place in the neighborhood .“
“Authentic Mexican food and service!!!! Way better than Gloria’s or Mi Cocina. Small place but give it a shot. I had the tacos Al pastor, hub had the spicy camarones and they were delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try the quesadilla “
“Move here to the colony about 10 years ago , till this day still one of my go to places for GOOD FOOD HANDS DOWN. Good breakfast tacos ( Hefty portion) good street tacos . Try the nachos frenado style ??. Tortas also good and same with the "mexican burger "“
“Maria’s is a staple and must go to the area! We frequent Maria’s at least once a week whether for dinner tacos or morning breakfast. The tacos are SO good and filled with meat. We particularly love the carnitas and Barbacoa. If you’re in the mood for a quesadilla or nachos, both also very good! But DON’T skip out on breakfast here. The sausage, egg and cheese are yum and also very full! And lastly I’ve never tasted a better pancake in my life. I’m not usually a pancake person and now I crave it. Even without butter and syrup it has a special taste unlike any other. Staff are always kind, service is fast, and our order is never wrong.“
“I love coming here because the food is really good. One thing that ruins the dining experience is they have 2 different stereos playing. In the dining area they play Latin music, but in the kitchen they blast whatever music the staff wants to listen to. It makes it feel chaotic and not pleasant hearing two different songs the whole time we’re eating. Also service seems a bit slow. I have to ask for them to bring our desserts out even though it’s clear we’ve finished the entrees. Food is excellent but the dining experience could definitely improve.“
“I’ve been craving gorditas for two weeks now. I just happened to pass by this location and had to stop because it’s literally called Gorditas! Everything was nostalgic for me. It tasted authentic, just like my abuelita would make in Mexico. The gorditas were terrific, the salsa that comes with the chips was delicious, my husband had bought some to bring home, the onions were grilled to perfection, the rice and beans were yummy, and the young lady at the cash register was very personable and just super sweet. The ladies in the back that were cooking, need to be recognized for their hard work!!Thank you for bringing me back to my childhood with your food.Forever a customer! ?“
“First time to Casa Mia for an early lunch (11AM) and it definitely won’t be the last. Mom and I were eagerly anticipating what we were hoping to be a good experience, and it absolutely blew us away! This visit ticked all the boxes in terms of Food, Service, and Ambiance. It was truly exceptional. I can’t believe this place has been here for six years and we have lived across the highway all this time. Walking in, you immediately feel a sense of welcoming in an intimate, classy, high energy space. Wonderful first impression. This is a Family Business and one that you would be doing yourself a disservice for not stopping by.From the time we entered, we were immediately greeted and seated by John, the mixologist here. He and the chef in the back were truly the stars of the show. John introduced us to the establishment and spoke a bit about the history. He was expecting us (since we made a reservation online) so he had already reserved a table. He was more than happy to answer any questions we may have had about the Menu. Fortunately, we glanced at the Menu online beforehand in order to prevent any indecisiveness.Hot, Fresh Chips, Salsa, and Black Bean Dip (life-changing btw) were brought to the table first. The crunch and texture of the chip was perfect accompanied by the two dips and set the tone for the rest of the meal.5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️John then handed us the cocktail Menu and we ordered two Jalapeño Margaritas. Individually handcrafted with fresh, quality ingredients, this Margarita ranks right up there with some of the best we have had. The flavors of the lime juice and the jalapeño do a little dance on the palate and cut through with just the right intensity.5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️For entrées, I ordered the Reina Plate and Mom ordered the Chicken Enchiladas. Both excellent! Hot, Fresh, Cooked to Order, Tender, locked-in flavor, and complete bliss with each and every bite. I love places that don’t over season or oversalt their food, simply because 1.) it retracts from the experience and 2.) we don’t add salt to our food at home. The seasoning here was perfect! I wish more places were like this. The pickled cabbage, carrots, and sauce were the perfect accompaniments to the fried plantains, yuca, pupusa with cheese, and tamale wrapped in banana leaves. The Black Bean Dip and Rice was a nice touch as well. Portion sizes just right and that can be hit or miss on several establishments. Presentation and aesthetics were on point as well and I would give them 10 stars if I could!5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for The Reina Plate5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️for The Chicken EnchiladasFor dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Tres Leches Cheesecake, and it did not disappoint. Light, moist, and airy and the perfect way to end a meal.5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We were the only patrons at 11AM on a Monday. We loved the individualized service and it truly felt like John cared about us. Based on our dining experience and attentive/friendly service, we wish to return for subsequent visits. Looking forward to the opening of your location in Little Elm. See you again soon!“
“Pleasantly surprised! The beef fajitas were really good. Which, I wasn't expecting considering how many times I've ordered them at other places and ended up disappointed by a tortilla full of inedible gristle and sinew. We ordered the meal for 4 and there was plenty of everything. I even have enough left over for 2 lunches tomorrow. I would definitely recommend and will order from them again.“
“How sweet it is to be welcomed at Mi Tata's!! The most magnificent services given by the 3 respectful gentleman and 2 sweet ladies that make accusations service friendly -service sweet! Thank you all and once again: HOW SWEET IT IS TO BE WELCOMED AT MI TATA'S!!“
“I love this restaurant it is my new go to place for delicious authentic Mexican food! I was starving one night back in February when it was really cold and I was craving chicken mole so bad! I haven’t found very many authentic Mexican restaurants in Denton that make Chicken Mole. So I was so excited when I came across Don Chiquitos! They have the best Chicken Mole I have ever had! It was so full of flavor and I also got so full! They give you really big portion sizes! It’s also really affordable a lot more affordable than most restaurants! I have also tried their Al pastor tacos and they are amazing! Im already addicted to Don Chiquitos food and the cheap prices too! This is my new go to authentic Mexican restaurant at the moment!“
“This place is incredible! They have the best (and largest) burritos in Flower Mound! I've had about 7 different kinds and they've all been excellent. Their machaca burrito at only $6.50 is my go to and it's a fantastic value, especially given how much meat they give you. The fact that they have a drive through is super convenient too. I seriously can't recommend it enough!“
“Best tacos north of the tollway!! It is really hard to find good authentic tacquerias north of sam rayburn! Tacos and tortas were soo good! No cutting corners, just some good authentic food! Salsas were also amazing! Will be back and recommend if you are in the area!“
“The was above average, the price ridiculously affordable and pleasant service. What you see in pictures is exactly what you get. I'll go back for sure. I paid $6.99 for the taco plate. Last week we went further east on McKinney (I won't name the place but it's in a small convenience store) and paid $16.99 for the same food - 3 street tacos, rice and beans. Won't be going back there!“
“If you’re looking for a great spot for real Tex Mex food look no further. La Fondita has been my go to for my “Mexican” food cravings for years now. They use amazing ingredients and the chefs always deliver on their dishes. Wouldn’t change a thing!“
“WOW is all I can say about the amazing first impressions of this place.Service was so warm, humble and welcoming!I believe It should have multiple locations with nothing but the best cooks and chefs! I hope a food critic sees Boka Feliz.I am from Milwaukee, JUST tried/had their Mexican Shrimp cocktail, and was absolutely blown away! The presentation was so pretty but when I tasted it, my tastebuds had a fiesta! The presentation invited me in with it’s placement, beautiful colors and it was so flavorful. The perfect balance Sweet, well-seasoned, and acidity flavors, blending extremely well. AMAZING! GIVE THIS PLACE MORE ATTENTION PEOPLE!? ??“
“I ordered a beef quesadilla for a quick lunch and paid close to $17 I felt a bit overcharged. The quesadilla IS large and equals down to 8 slices, definitely shareable. I purchased no drink and sorry I did not leave a tip.The price for 1 quesadilla was a bit of a surprise specially if it costs more than my hourly wage lol. I do understand I got beef so maybe chicken would be less expensive? Still though they are not very generous with the meat portion. I did not want to complain but I hope they do pay their employees fairly if the prices are high like this. Unfortunately I won’t be going back :(“
“Went for Taco Tuesday. Great food at a great price. They were very busy, but the made the food very quickly. My coworkers do this often, and typically, by the time we've filled our drinks, grabbed our sauces, and found our seats, they are already calling it order numbers.“
“Las Palmas is AMAZING! I cannot believe how DELICIOUS the food is here and how generous the portions are. Would recommend the tacos carnitas. The tortillas taste like they're homemade. Family owned and always friendly and prompt service. Lots of seating including two different dining areas and a few tables outdoors.“
“Great visit today! We're regulars, but the birria queso was new to us and I would highly recommend it. Roman at the register took good care of us, checked on us several times at our table, and he had great taste in music. The team at the Flower Mound store always keeps us coming back.“
“This has been my go to place for tacos lately! Literally got tacos from here once every week for the last 2 months. The food prep station is clean and food is great! Just wish they open til later, but glad to have a good taco place in neighborhood!“
“The service was Awesome! My waitress was very friendly and kept a smile on her face the whole time. The food was good and it came out in a timely manner. Their Hibiscus drink , Fish Soup, and Shrimp and Fish Civiche was really good. I will be back to try more items on their menu.“
“We moved to the area and our first time at Angelina's was phenomenal! We were seated instantly and in an area that accommodated us and our little one. Our waiter was Lety, she was the best, she made suggestions which did not disappoint. We had the Queso Con Todo that has brisket, Pico de Gallo, and jalapeños, but that's not the best thing about it, it also comes with flour tortillas that are made fresh. For our main dish we had Street tacos and brisket tacos. They also have an upstairs covered bar with tables yo enjoy the warm or rainy weather!“
“Raul gave us beyond excellent service as a manager. He turned the heaters outside for us and he continued to check on us and brought my baby out some milk with warm water in the pitcher just above and beyond what I asked for. They gave extra meat to our friend who asked for more with a friendly attitude. Danielle was our server she was friendly and prompt to serve all of our needs and anything extra we asked for. We cannot thank the staff more for our great experience with a night out with friends. Food is always excellent thank you kitchen staff. Danielle and Raul were awesome.“
“The place is run by a bunch of teenagers, and that's ok they did a good job and were polite. However, the prices are a bit high for what you get. The large gorilla dilla isn't very large at all. I honestly thought they had my order wrong, but it wasn't. I would call it a chimp dilla at most. 16 dollars for one, that's with no drink or side. Now for that price you can go to a much more established restaurant and have a nice experience. The savings grace is that the food is actually good. Especially that green sauce. The hatch chilies were great, and the steak was tender, not burt or over salted like you would get at Chipotle.Parking: Right next to targetKid-friendliness: Kids menue“
“Update 4-3024: Prices have skyrocketed to the ridiculous. We've been living in Europe so not at Gloria's for nearly a year. Call margaritas made with añejo are now $19 apiece! With taxes and tip, totally nuts. Of course, we expect to pay more for the call drink, but this left a sour taste and doubts about our long-time favorite. What a disappointment.Excellent, as always. (My husband has been a regular at the Gloria's chain for decades.) Terrific new server from Mexico City. Sopa Maricada (f/k/a sopa siete mares) was fabulous as always as were the camarones a la plancha. If you want to guarantee a hangover-free next morning, Gloria's margaritas made with Herradura añejo are the delicious ticket! Only tiny hiccup on this last visit was that we actually had to ask for refills of chips and salsas.“
“This quiet little Mexican place needs more attention! Full bar, excellent food, endless chips, great service. A little harder to get to because of some temporary road construction, but don't let that discourage you. Follow Google maps and you will find it.“
“The Torta Cubano was a fever dream. I'll be back to eat it again, but be ready for a monster of a sandwich. The tacos and meat were all on point and very delicious. We will be back for sure. Even if it's just to watch the majestic horses romp around.“
“Chuy's is a great place to eat. The atmosphere is good, clean restaurant and friendly service. I ordered the ground beef burrito with queso on it. It came with beans and rice. This was Deli and very filling. It's definitely worth every penny! We will return. I'll add photos next time.“
“The flavors here are so addicting! The staff are very patient and professional, the service is fast, and the food tastes amazing. Got tired of American food in the area, came here and now I can’t stop coming back ?Vegetarian options: The vegan torta is tasty.“
“I understand all the great reviews!! The food was amazing--brisket tacos, tortilla soup, brisket enchiladas and all the different hot sauces they brought us to sample all tasted so very good; as did the great margarita!! The staff was very friendly and attentive. They definitely set the atmosphere for a very pleasant dinner. Already planning our next visit and what we want to try next.“
“We eat here at least twice a week. It's very, very good. They are owner-operated and it's very obvious by how well their restaurant is kept and how bomb the food is. The meat market inside is great as well. The marinated meat is awesome or you can get nearly any cut you want if you call ahead and order it. Highly recommend!“
“Heard good things about this place in the various local food groups, and it's always packed when I drive by, so we decided to try it out on a miserably rainy Thursday evening. Fast, friendly, and attentive service, the ambiance is pretty much what you'd expect for a solid Tex Mex restaurant, and the food was great! We also partook of the happy hour drink specials and were not disappointed.Wife and I just decided to split one of their appetizer platters -- the one with all the chicken stuff. Somewhat comically, one of the two chicken jalapeño poppers was completely devoid of filling (it was the right size and shape so clearly the filling must have seeped out during deep-frying). I notified our server and she swiftly replaced it with not one but TWO extra poppers (one chicken, one cheese). Hooray!Wife decided she needed more protein and we ordered the cóctel de camarónes and you need to understand that this was always the dish her dad would make her when she was younger and she needed cheering up so it's near and dear to her heart. It is no small praise to indicate that it met with her approval.Chips were good. Salsa was quite tasty, though more liquid than solid. Nothing wrong than that; just observing. They also gave us a couple sweetened coffee shots at the end of our meal. Neat! Also, there was an abuelita serving the table next to us, unapologetically forcing some Español out of the exceedingly white family in the table next to us and calling them mijo and mija and while our server was great, I've never had server-envy more in my entire life. Next time, Angelina's. Next time.Anyway, do yourself a favor and check out Angelina's. Good food, good drinks, good times.“
“Love this place! The chicken arbol, Nashville hot and barbacoa tacos are awesome with a good beer in hand! Service is always fantastic! If you're looking for a good spot to just hang out, have some apps or tacos with your beers, this is the place!“
“Very good, the restaurant was clean. Tried the new Grande Relleno with the tenderloin tips and it was excellent. Somehow savory and fresh at the same time. My husband has the Grande Platillo and it was 2 huge played of food. Both boys had the kids fajitas. One of the only places I've found that does kids fajitas. They liked it alright, but they loved the queso. I tried the Tamrindo Tajin Margarita and it was super sweet and had lots of syrup. It was alright. Service was ok. Fast, with the exception of my drink it anything extra we asked for.“
“I wish I would've taken pics of my order. A simple Google search for "tacos" led me here.Ordered 3 tacos + 2 sides for $12. Two steak tacos and a chicken taco, all in house made, fresh flour tortillas. The tortillas were top notch! Tacos come with cilantro and onion, although they offer other items such as cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, guac, etc.Got chips + salsa as one side, Mexican rice for the other. Salsa was mild, although they had spicier options.Rice was pedestrian but easily fixable with a little salsa. No taco Tuesday specials, however, still a very good, inexpensive meal for any day of the week!“
“I've been coming here for several years now and it's always amazing. I've never had a bad experience and the food is always top notch. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. This is simply the best Mexican restaurant in the Flower Mound/Lewisville area.“
“This is a great local Mexican food restaurant!!! The food was spot on and even more importantly is their margaritas are top notch!!!! So many Mexican restaurants ruin it for me because if the margaritas are not good, I don't go back. Mexican food and good margaritas JUST go together ❤️. The service is awesome and the manager also works to make sure you are well taken care of! My new favorite place for sure!!! I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant ?!!!“
“A bit pricey. 5 beers, 1 tap rootbeer two appetizers, two entrees cost $100. Be careful what you order because options may cost. Staff was great. They give samples of the beer. My flatbread pepperoni pizza was good, a bit thin on the crust. The meatball appetizer was great. Heavy on marinara, good on stuffed meatballs.Pretzel appetizer was pretty good too. Stick to cheese, mustard was extra.Tejas nachos were great. But still. I can spend less and get steaks and beer.“
“Authentic mexican food; it was really good! Their green salsa was a bit too spicy for me, I wish I brought my Riopan in order to be able to enjoy it, trust me, it's worth it. Gordita de rajas con queso would be my fave. My boyfriend had some pastor and chicken tacos; he really enjoyed them.“
