“So my wife and I decided to wake up early this morning have some breakfast and watch the sunrise in what a great place to stop into. True authentic Mexican dishes at great prices and outstanding flavor. Truly a gem, if you have a chance stop in. Jessica was hands down amazing and always had our coffee cup topped off. My wife tried three diffrent tacos and I gad the Migas plate. ???????? Kid-friendliness: They had a great kids plate menu at good prices as well.“
“I had the special of the day… chicken mole enchiladas. Was not expecting much but the plate was great! Best chicken mole enchiladas I’ve had in a long while. The refried beans were tasty too. The rice was above average. My girlfriend had the puffy tacos and they were pretty good too. So good that I ordered 2 to go for my dinner later that night. LolI will go back but this time I might try their huevos rancheros plate! I have heard good things about it too.“
“This is one of my favorite places to go eat lunch at I come here quite often. “Ordered the Deluxe Mexican Meal. More food than 2 could finish. Cheese Enchiladas were wonderful. Homemade Tortillas were excellent. Highly recommend. Fast service in about 10 minutes. Cash only though. Very popular stop for the locals. Fire truck stopped for lunch while we were there.“

“Feels like your in Grandma's kitchen. Very warm and atmosphere is wonderful. The owners make you feel like you're part of the family. The food is excellent. The tripas are so so good. Very fresh and tasty. They do close at 2pm. Come try this gem of a restaurant. You will not be disappointed.“
“Today I went to try it because I have been told a lot about this restaurant, the service was incredible but what I loved was the delicious food, I ate the pulled pork and it is one of the most delicious I have ever eaten, congratulations to the chef! I definitely ? recommend the restaurant!!!“
“I had eaten this Friday and I will always drive 35 min to eat these yummy tacos! Very flavorful, doesn't take too long and always are given a few hot sauces that are really good! Very packed and not shy with their servings! Recommend if you haven't tried these birria tacos!“
“Fantastic chicken and sides. Got half chicken with tortillas, rice, and beans for $10. What a steal. It was quite a bit of food. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. Really good rice and beans too. This isn't too far from me and I can't believe I haven't tried it sooner. Will be back for sure.“
“Excellent fresh TAMALES DAILY! I arrived by 9:30am today. All sold out except 1 dozen pork/lite jalapeños tamales! Arrived home attacking one tamale. Excellent fresh, moist, tender, juicy, spices on point and plenty of pork meat in them! I highly advise anyone to spend your money$$ here bcuz it's well worth your time to come here! Stay safe! CGR??❤️ ?“
“Came here today since I got invited by a co-worker around lunch time. It was super busy but staff seats you quick and are very friendly. Not a long wait for the food. He told me about the restaurant and the fideo loco! Super close to my work. He got the fideo loco which is what they are famous for. I didn’t try it but he said it was amazing. The fideo loco is on the daily special every day. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. I got the small Mexican plate (1 cheese enchilada and 1 crispy taco) with rice and beans. Everything was very flavorful. The rice was yummy. The flour tortillas were homemade and fluffy. The enchilada sauce was super good. I also got a barbacoa taco on the side. I love barbacoa so much and make it myself so I’m super picky when it comes to barbacoa. It’s was really greasy but the taste was delicious. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars because of the barbacoa being greasy but taste wise it was yummy. I would definitely come back and recommend this restaurant. I spent about $25! Give them a try“
“I’m a family of 6, been living in San Antonio all my life born and raised.I give reviews to those who deserve it.Been searching high and low for the best barbacoa and tamales!I’ve finally found it, delicious, well prepped great service. And very efficient, tamales were super good I recommend the pork wish that had a spicy been tamale.Stop searching come and take advantage of the best barbacoa spot in San Antonio.“
“Way above average food! Cheese enchiladas had delicious gravy, beans were porky and flavorful, taco mariachi (asado de puerco) was a particular standout. The limonada was tart and fresh. I took one star off for atmosphere, because the a/c was blasting too cold. It’s a little far from my house, but good enough I would drive across town to eat here again.“
“This little place right off the Highway ? on frontage road may NOT look like much from the outside but it sure does deliver some Quality Comida/Food inside?Just like Mama makes & she's from the same place as My Familia:"Monterrey Mexico" ????‼️Delicious Food and hand-made todo....tortillas and the comida!! Saborsito y Buen Hecho ?✨️??Great service and they had lotsa repeat customers as I was visiting and I ate in!! Plenty of space inside plus parking too......?Gave Mama a Hug as I left happy and full of Menudo y Taco's ??Very yummy and satisfying ? ? ?“
“I don't get to San Antonio very often, but when I do, I make a point to visit this excellent family restaurant. The decor is plain and functional but the food is outstanding and the service is friendly and efficient. The food here is some of the best Mexican food I have eaten and I have eaten a lot of Mexican food. I highly recommend this family restaurant.“
“Ok... so food. Amazing! (Please don't fire the chef and everyone behind the scenes in the kitchen... or give them a good raise. Well deserved.) Although, the only thing I can complain about is... when ordering food to be delivered. The food delivered... was not it. I guess because of the time it takea from point A to point B, affects the taste... Dine in, BIG yes. Always leaving the place STUFFED. No room for dessert, unfortunately. Unless you share your plate, or take some home for later. Again, taste might be different.Parking: At high lunch hours, especially weekends, it's packed. Parking is available, but you gotta go around a bit, to find one. Good luck.“
“Came down to San Antonio from Austin for the weekend and stopped by this food truck for lunch! Me and my friends got the vegetarian tacos and the chicken tacos. They were nice and flavorful- especially with the green salsa! The service was good and it was around a 10 minute wait for the tacos. They raised the prices since the last time I came but they are still cheaper than a lot of places in Austin!“
“Great service, reasonable price ,and great food. The rice is to die for, I'm not a bean person but this beans are home madeEverything was so will serve and worth every dollar spent.Definitely will come back and I will post it on social media.“
“My husband and I went this morning to try it out! I am sad we haven’t tried it it sooner. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was great. You can definitely tell it was homemade. The price was good as well. Will definitely become a frequent visitor here!“
“These are the best mini tacos I ever had and I have eaten a lot of different kinds, but these are the best I recommend this place to anyone and everyone go try them out like now??????And just for a heads up if you like salsa, the green one is the best“
“Omg people, if ever in San Antonio area give this place a try. It may be a small building but the people so friendly and dang the food total delicious. I had menudo and hubby tacos de barbacoa and chicharrones. By the way homemade tortillas!!!!! Five stars!!!!!!!“
“Nice little place to eat. The prices are very reasonable. Service was good. The dining room was a bit warm and our food took a while to come out, but the server let us know why. But overall it was worth the wait, the food was awesome! I will go back.“
“My friend told me about this place because his mom owns it. I have to say it was great because I received exceptional service and great food at a great price. I got the chorizo and egg plate which came with fried potatoes beans and tortillas that were homemade. Definitely a spot you need to check out. Also the plate cost less than $8 which is very reasonable.“
“I ordered beans and eggs on corn tortillas, very good tacos with a good amount of egg and beans in the tacos. The waitress stopped by often to check if I was ok with my coffee or something else I might need. I ordered two machacado with egg to go for a friend, I never asked her how they turned out. I will go back. Clean place. Parking lot is bad. But oh well.“
“The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming, the service is consistent and friendly they always pay attention if you need anything, and the food itself is very delicious ? I tried the enchiladas, and the carne guisada, and the crispy tacos ? they were all so delicious my wife had the tortilla soup she love the flavor and texture is was spot on , I definitely recommend this place for anyone who is hungry and wants authentic Mexican food especially for truck drivers“
“Best kept secret in the south side of San Antonio my uncles that worked at Kelly Air Force Base used to come to this place in the 70s and 80s and it's still around but they close early but this is like Grandma's old cooking made with a lot of love“
“This is my favorite taco truck in San Antonio! Hugo is very personable and cares about his customers. He tries his best to be a good host in his broken English and fluent Spanish. His prices are fair and my favorite is the Albanil tacos with cheese.“
“Best Barbacoa Hands down. Cheapest Barbacoa hands down. The first restraunt that I've found barbacoa tacos for only 3 dollars in a long time. And i love the fashion in wich the young ladys make your taco, they dont shake the spoon on you. They liad those bad boys down with barbacoa. Biggest barbacoa tacos that ive eaten hands down. And i am a barbacoa exspert. The barbacoa does not have alot of that fat in ig like some places put but at the same time are really moist and greasy but not over greased. Only thing about the place that i dont like is the time that they close i think they should stay open longer until 9 or 10 p.m.“
“I am pleased with the service and food! For the first time last night we tried Tacos Carillo. They were super nice and friendly. The tacos and quesadillas were delicious, and the chiles toreados spicy. Yum! Prices are great, unlike other taco stands and trucks. I definitely recommend to eat here.“
“The food was amazing the ribs were full of flavor and the chicken was juicy. I spent about $90 to feed 10 people we all enjoyed it very much. The only thing that wasn’t a fan favorite from everyone was the rice but the beans were good on the other hand. 8/10“
“Great little out-of-the-way place. If you are headed south and looking for breakfast or lunch you will not be disappointed. The location is family owned and run, so you know the food and service are top-notch. We had breakfast tacos and they were great.“
“Excellent street tacos! They even came with a tasty soup! They served us quick and it was only about $15 for both my husband and I. We will be back again. There’s a good amount of parking for semis, just watch out for the craters. Oh and giving this place one star for not using credit cards? Wow! Someone must’ve been hangry. ?“
“The food is prepared deliciously and you will know and appreciate the greatness the cooks go for YOU to have a well experience @ Chuma's Mexican Restaurant although the attractive women waitresses will knock down your overall expectations of this establishment...Results are still an ALL High since their attractiveness makes up for their service...loI I give them them a high score...Parking: I parked an 18 wheeler in the lot ....(SorryNotSorry) ?“
“La Patrona ("the lady boss" translated into English) is your typical Mexican diner, hole in the wall where people gather from the neighborhood. You can tell as much by the first name basis the customers have with the waitress. Pops greets out waitress by name. These types of no frills establishments dot San Antonio, especially in the Southside. Located on New Laredo Highway in a working class and equally spartan neighborhood, La Patrons is unassuming but delivers on the most important aspect: giving folks a meal worthy of a repeat visit. Pops makes a joke and our waitress laughs. The menu is pretty standard stuff for a Mexican restaurant; tacos, breakfast plates, and lunch time combos dominate the menu. I chose the Migas Breakfast Plate and a barbacoa taco while Pops got the menudo. I know why Pops comes here, and although Camila obviously tiene tremendo sazón en el plato de ella, the food holds my attention.Migas, as simple a concept, can be difficult to execute if you don't treat it with respect. The migas here retained their crunch and gave the plate that texture migas need. Well cooked, seasoned potatoes, and standard refried beans rounded out a great plate. The stellar barbacoa was a surprise; I like my barbacoa with some fat in it, around 80/20, and let me tell you, that's where that flavor lives. This barbacoa was stellar and really shocked my senses as I didn't expect such a terrific taco. Pops tells the waitress to bring more napkins please.Pops said his menudo was good. I tried a couple tablespoons but Pops had already mixed in his chili, the lime juice, and additional onions, all counter to what I like (I like just a touch or lime juice; Pops likes his like limonada) but it tasted good and he likes it.Overall, the food definitely shines here at La Patrona; Im going to go once again and see if Olga (the owner and presumed patrona) is keeping it consistent. Maybe my dad is coming here for the food after all. Pops got the waitresses number btw. I feel like he brought me here knowing today was the day and he wanted to prove how big of a badass he is. Well, that's true, but the food here is truly badass.“
“Food and service were exceptional and professional. The only problem was the live mariachi band volume was unnecessarily loud. Like blaring loud. Had to almost yell to talk across the table. We moved our party of 8 to a different part of the restaurant so we could converse without yelling at each other.“
“We were in the area looking for a used car and decided to stop here for lunch on the suggestion of the car dealership. There was an outdoor area by the drive thru that allowed us to eat outside with our dogs not having to stay in the car, which was a plus. All the food was delicious, the person helping us was very friendly, and served the food quickly. We even got some flan for dessert and it was fresh and moist! Highly recommend Claudia's!“
“Great food, absolutely recommend their breakfast tacos and enchiladas. Wait staff is always so friendly regardless of how busy it is. I would recommend getting there early since they are super busy every time I've been, it's a smaller location but they are opening another one across town too. They have extra parking just across from the restaurant since parking gets full quickly. It's a busy spot that will get noisy but the food is too good to pass up on.“
“I come here daily maybe every other week and every time it NEVER disappoints. From chips to menudo or caldo , it is very delicious. The service is always attentive and food comes out fast . Thank you for the consistent service! Definitely my favorite restaurant.“
“First time here & I’m already amazed & obsessed with their barbacoa & tamales!!! Everything is so fresh, HOT & delicious!! Come check this place out it’s WORTH IT!!Truly a hidden gem here in the south side. Affordable specials as well.“
“#12 Plato Jaliscience. Beef fajita meat w/ grilled onions, charro beans, rice, and salad.Omg, this was so good and the portions were great! Good service with a smile and great atmosphere. Puro!Parking: Easy parking for semi-trucks!!! Great for drivers on the run.“
