“We love this place! All of the food is top notch quality cooked to perfection. Many different appetizers to choose from makes it fun. Staff is sharp and on point. Again, this is high quality food and cooking so it takes time. I’ve seen some reviews where people thought they were at a Bill Miller’s and wanted their food immediately. This is not that kind of place.“

“The memelas transported to enjoying huaraches at the ‘mercados sobre ruedas’ aka farmer’s markets. The flavors for me were con fresh and authentic. Experienced a friendly atmosphere, with the staff & customers enjoying each other. Plan to bring my fiend from Monterrey to try the quesadillas of flor de calabaza & huitlacoche.“

“Wow, this place is amazing! La Panadería turned all my breakfast dreams into reality. The black coffee was bold and smooth, the pastries were absolutely divine, and every single item I tried was fantastic.
The atmosphere is welcoming, and you can tell everything is made with care and quality ingredients. I only wish we had a La Panadería in Nashville, TN—it would instantly become my favorite spot! If you’re in San Antonio, don’t miss this treasure. It’s a breakfast (or anytime) experience you won’t forget!“

“Salcido provided us with the best service. We did not wait on our drinks and he even brought a little bowl of water for my dog. The service here is always the best and one of our favorite places to eat. The strawberry margaritas are the best! Thank you so much Palenque and Salcido for wonderful service.“

“If I ever gave a review, it is my absolute pleasure to leave a review for Crepeccino. I have already visited this beautiful quaint cafe six times since finding it about a week - two weeks ago. Everything about the restaurant is absolutely spectacular. From the aroma in the air as you walk in, to the customer service provided, to the coffee menu, and the incredibly crafted need-to-try-everything selection of food offered, you will leave already anticipating your return. Being a family-enjoyable environment, I encourage all to bring their closest family and mates to enjoy the atmosphere that is Crepeccino.“

“Great inexpensive spot for a quick meal or tacos to go. The service is warm and friendly, and they get to know regulars by name and will often remember your usual orders. The prices are good and the food is excellent. My only complaint is that I'd like for them to offer homemade corn tortillas (flour are homemade and very good, but the corn are not made fresh). It's a strip center food joint, so you can't expect much in the way of decor or atmosphere--this isn't fine dining--but it's welcoming and always very clean. I have been coming here for years, and will continue to stop in once a week or so for breakfast tacos. It's a wonderful family business.“

“We had takeout and it was delicious! I usually always order the same dish at a new Mexican restaurant so I can compare apples to apples and they had some really delicious enchiladas verdes! The charro beans and rice were great too! Definitely need to go again!“

“We ate at Mixtili on the last day of their July-October 19th menu. Interestingly, we were literally the last table, on the last day of this menu being offered.
***SIDE NOTE***: As I write this, we just days away from the first ever Texas ‘Michelin Guide’ being released!
Now if there’s one thing I know - it’s good food…
I’ve eaten at unlimited dinners, drive-ins, and dives. I’ve also eaten at Oteque (**), ABaC (***), and Cocina Hermanos Torres (***) <— those are Michelin stars ?. To sum it up, the kid’s palette is absolutely diversified!
I would like to take this moment prior, to solidify, without a doubt, my impeccable and dependable food acumen. Today, I declare, prior to, that Mixtili will undoubtedly receive a one Michelin star, upon the Texas Michelin Guide being released Nov 11th, 2024.
***Now Back To Business***
It’s not often that you find a Mexican Michelin caliber restaurant, but Mixtili definitely delivered! From the very start of the experience, they impressed with the CORN ESQUITES TART. This was what I could only describe as a ‘freaky lil spin’ on traditional esquites (elotes off the cob), that was served as hors d'oeuvres, in their bar area, where our “experience” began. This was arguably the best thing we ate, but I may be a little biased due to my surprise and intrigue with its composition. Other notable plates were the CORUNDA [White Corn, Rajas, Koji Jocoque] (which semi resembles a piece of cheesecake lol but tasted like a fajita), and the MOLE DE CAFÉ
[Brined Pork Chop, Apple, Marigold].
I anticipate Mixtili will explode in popularity over the next 12-24 months, so I encourage you to be a part of the early majority!“

Holy enchiladas! Order the Suizas enchiladas! I thought about them for about 24 hours afterwards. Our entire experience was fantastic. Lauryn our server was one of the nicest and most patient people ever! The atmosphere is fantastic. And all of the food was delicious!! Wish we lived closer so we could go more often!“

“Surprisingly great food! We were actually trying to go to another restaurant, but they were closed and decided on this place. OMG! So glad we did. It was clean and inviting. Customer service was A1, and food was AMAZING! Meat well seasoned, good portions, and very reasonably priced. 10 out of 10..New breakfast spot in SA.“

“I'm not exaggerating when I say this is my favorite place to eat in San Antonio. Located near the airport in a tucked away location, RO-HO Pork & Bread is a hidden gem. This is comfort food at it's finest. Ro-Ho has many great things on the menu, but they are best known for their Torta Ahogada, and it's what I get almost every time. The torta is always hot, the carnitas cooked to perfection, and the tomato salsa is to die for. You can get the torta with straight carnitas or you can mix it up with carnitas, pork stomach and skin, which is what I usually get. The torta also comes with cabbage, onion, radish and lime. No matter how you order it, it's going to be great! The place is super cool, with Mexican artwork and music. There is inside seating and an outside covered patio as well. Everything you can get to drink from the cold case is always ice cold. And they serve one of my favorite Mexican beers, Victoria. Chef Rojo is often around and greets customers. The ladies that work the register and food line are so friendly, and will answer questions if it's your first time. The place fills up quickly at lunch, so keep that in mind. I drive clear across town for my Torta Ahogada fix, if that says anything! Check this place out!“

“If you are like me I appreciate the inclusion of pictures in accompaniment of a restaurant review. It's provudes a virtual 3-D representaion of the author's dining experience and a bit more complete portrayal of the particular culinary experience.
In like manner the menu of some old school Mexican restaurants offer full color pictures to go with an enumeration of what foods are offered on a plate which otherwise might be somewhat enigmatic without it. Such is Nuestro Mexico's.
We were going to order plain B&C nachos, but those pictured with guacamole atop the melted cheese looked so good we acquiesced. "Dog pile" nachos, as opposed to individually made, are not our preferred mise en place version as one always ends up with some naked chips. We only culled about 4 chips for their bare, naked lasciviousness, however.
Are you an American yellow cheese on your enchilada hater? Then these here cheddar tex-mex yahoos ought to flap your serape. Long, melty ribbons of cheese drooped from generously stuffed enchilada cheese wads making for a pizza type string along from plate to mouth. The sumptuous beef laden tube's were another, but improved story. I know which ones to order next time.
I think what they called "beef tips in gravy" is actually CG. Yes. That stands for carne guisada as well as "connoisseur grade" in my opinion. These tender meat morsels became a ready star attraction of the Texas plate or a savory scion of taco genre in a fresh made corn tortilla. Magnifico!
Rice and beans reside on that same plateau of craveworthy consumption as the food described above. With this I hope you get the picture and will avail yourselves of the pretty as a picture plates of food here.“

“I found Maria's Cafe via Google Search and I'm a sucker for family owned hole-in-the-wall places that serve authentic no frills cuisine. Maria's does not disappoint. You will find tacos of every kind, including familiar ones and many others that I haven't seen in other places. I tried the Taco Mando Loco #1 on a corn tortilla which was served piping hot with a chilli sauce/salsa on the table. Word of caution for those who aren't accustomed to higher spice levels, this one has a kick to it, and that's a good thing.
For the 2nd order I was curious to know what they have for veggie tacos. When I asked, I was promptly handed a green sheet with a handwritten menu with over 20 different veggie tacos! I ordered Jeff's Vegan and it was awesome.
The location is about 2 miles from the city center so it's a short cab ride away but it's worth the trip. You'll get home made food that won't burn a hole in your wallet.

“If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!! We joined some friends for dinner who had previously been here. It is very unassuming and tucked away in a strip center, but has a very quaint and classy atmosphere. Ernesto Jr was a top-notch host, providing great recommendations and truly making us feel like we were having a five-star dining experience. The food was absolutely amazing with nothing left on anybody's plates at the end of the meal! We will definitely be going back to this hidden gem.“

“Finally tried House of Flavor. Wasn’t disappointed with exception of lack of A/C. Some spots were cool. Others quite warm. Can happen anywhere in SA lol. Nonetheless, went to meet a friend for a cold beer. Was happy to learn that we walked in to Happy Hour. A medium Modelo was under $3. What a deal!! Chips were crispy and fresh. The salsita was different but quite tasty and picoso! Wonder if they used chili de árbol? We ordered their $8.99 lunch special. I had pollo con mole. Chicken was so tender and juicy. Friend had carne asada. It was tasty and fresh. It didn’t look like a lot but it fooled me. Had to be rolled out of the place. Homemade tortillas were wonderful. Just like mom used to make. Overall I was impressed. Once their A/C problems are fixed I think it may become my new favorite place.“

“This is one of those small places that serves amazing food! Very reasonable prices with huge portions and the food is delicious. We had the caracheo combination with an order of puffy tacos. Even the chips and salsa they serve was delicious. Our server Malluvy was awesome.
They accept credit cards but do add an extra 3% on for using one, so bring cash if you don't
want to pay the extra fee.“
