“I was very positively surprised by this place, because upon arriving the exterior is not flashy, the interior is clean and cozy, they have super cheap and tasty lunch specials. They have a lot of takeout orders, but I decided to eat there and everything was great. Their cuisine has a special and magical touch, as it has the original oriental flavor.“
“Just wanted to say DANNA is a superstar. I caught her doing 3-4 tasks at a time with ease while everyone around her was doing 1. Not to speak negatively on the rest of her team, I could just see her work ethic shining! She kept everything flowing so smoothly. I hope managment recognizes her hard work frequently; She needs a raise or managment position.“
“absolutely BANGER authentic chinese skewer + late night hang out spot. we got the cabbage, grilled lamb spare ribs, grilled sizzling squid, eggplant skewer, and oyster mushroom skewer. if you order no spicy its still extremely flavorful, but even the mild spicy (we got on the squid) wasn't overbearing. note that this place does have karaoke option so if you're sensitive to loud noises i wouldn't recommend. our waiter was the SWEETEST ever - gave us amazing recommendations and let us have a small sample of the pig ears since we were worried about the spice level. for less than $60, we (2 ppl) have enough leftovers to last 2 more meals (so in total 6 meals for $60). the white rice is $1 per bowl in case u wanted to order some.“
“I absolutely love this place. I have tried so many sushi spots all over Houston throughout my life and this place is definitely my favorite. If you are looking for an intimate setting with a homey feel this is the place for you. When I come here I feel like family. Johnny the owner is so funny and welcoming. He runs the restaurant with his son and daughter who are also so humble and sweet. The quality of the food is fanominal and decently priced. I highly recommend the calamari and the fish is a perfect temp and so fresh so definitely go for the nigiri or sashimi if you are a raw fish fan. 10 out of 10. I will be coming back soon ???“
“Me and my fiancé are obsessed with this place. Our favorite dish by far is “char kwe teow” by a long shot. We literally dream about it. This time we also got the garlic eggplant and salt and pepper squid. No complaints. Staff is very attentive and food comes out pretty quick for a sit down restaurant. If I had I give it a con, it’s very loud. There’s just so many people enjoying their food. ❤️ Definitely worth a visit.“
“They were the best for Indo chinese food when they started. The place is always crowded with long wait time now a days. Check wait time before you go.Update: We recently had my uncles milestone birthday party here! Food was amazing as always. Owner made some great suggestions while ordering and also made us reduce the quantity as he had better idea of how much will people eat. I am glad we listened to him. The quantity he suggested was so perfect that there were very little leftovers. Staff was very helpful and polite. Our party turned out great. Really really happy ?“
“It's an interesting fusion of Indian food along with Bar. Music is loud, so don't take your family for dinner, however, it's a great place to get yourself some Indian food. A place for youngsters to chill.Wheelchair accessibility: Not really wheelchair accessible, but staff was very kind to help out.“
“Overall, it is pretty good. The soup took quite some time to boil. It seemed the soup was out of refrigerator. The hot plate oven didn't heat up quickly. If you come in very hungry, then you must bear your hungry for some time. We sat for almost 10 mins before the hot pot brought up. So, easily need to wait 20 mins before you can eat. They do have few precooked items.Parking: Go there early for easy parking.“
“This was on my to-try list and it did not disappoint. Came in with some friends during lunch on a Tuesday and it was slow and quiet. The restaurant is spacious and bright inside. The waitstaff mainly speaks Chinese, but there are tablets you can order from on the tables. I got the beef brisket tomato noodle soup which was really good. The brisket was soft and super flavorful and the soup was tomato-y but did not taste like V8. I added in some of the chili oil and sambal that is provided at the tables and they enhanced the flavor of the soup even more. The bowl is also super large with lots of noodles and vegetables inside, so it was super filling (might even be shareable if you have a small appetite). I tried some of my friend's fish (same soup) and it was super tender and incredibly flavorful--I liked it more than the beef that I had gotten. We also got the brown sugar rice cake which was okay. It was crispy on the outside, but not that chewy. And there was a brown sugar filling on the inside which was super liquid-y and came out hot. The filling did taste a tad medicinal which I did not dislike, but did not like either. Overall, a great experience, will be returning!“
“Ordering a lunch menu speciality and egg noodle plate was a perfect lunchtime meal. Look forward to a return visit/meal .Vegetarian options: AvailableKid-friendliness: High chair and ta le settings available. All staff in dining area made 1 yr. old welcome“
“Halal or not, the food here is simply amazing. So far, I tried their roti, Tom yum soup, pad Thai, fried rice, and various curry dishes - everything was amazing and the portions were satisfying. The Tom Yum soup here is superb. I would rate it in my top three for sure. I tend to select a spice level too high for me and regret it in the end, so beware and learn from my mistake! Level 3 out of 5 is perfection. The service during our last visit was outstanding. We celebrated a birthday here and our waiter was very accommodating and nice. Service makes a huge difference in overall experience. Interior is ok. Lots of cultural decorations and murals. Lots of natural lighting. No major wow factor but it's all about the food and service. They have specials on certain days of the week (I think either tTuesday or Thursday), so if you want a deal, something to consider.“
“The service is great here. As a lifelong vegetarian it's usually difficult to find places that are fully vegetarian. Many of the meals at this place have fake meats which I do not eat as I've never eaten meat. They were able to cater to my needs by not using any of these. The pad thai and Kung pao tofu were really good. Will go again. Highly recommend to vegetarian diets.“
“This is clearly a hidden gem in Houston if you're a fan of skewers. I highly recommend this place.Be warned, because everything is so good and the portions are small it's very easy to keep ordering and racking up a bill. This isn't a bad thing, but just be aware.“
“The food was so good! The chicken was very crunchy and detectable. However, the main star is our wonderful waitress Rita! She made the experience so much more enjoyable with his assistance. She was kind and helped refill our waters and overall kept a good attitude! She was also quick on her feet when it came to ordering and serving the food to us and other families there. Wonderful work, Rita! Can't wait to see you next time!“
“We have been coming here for a few months and it has never disappointed! We have several food allergies and the chefs are very accommodating. Amazing wait staff and the food is absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this gem in the neighborhood.“
“This is a great Chinese restaurant for Cantonese food especially their clay pot rice. They have a lot of varieties of dishes served in clay pots with rice in. This is traditional Cantonese food and Rice to Meet You serve them very good. The only catch is that these clay pot rice takes long time (about 15 minutes) to cook. So just need a little bit patience for great food.“
“The pork and the beef dumpling tasted great. I also took out the frozen pearl meatballs, pork with vegetable buns, Siu-Mai and pan fried chive buns. The cashier/owner was very friendly and helpful.Parking: It may be difficult to find the parking the most close to the restaurant. You can still find the parking a bit far away from the restaurant.“
“Dumpling World is more accurately described as Dumpling Heaven. These are by far the tastiest dumplings I have ever had. This unpretentious venue is perfect for a small business lunch or date night. The service is by far the best I have experienced in a Chinese restaurant. They are all friendly, kind, and very helpful. I would happily recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.“
“I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. There was quite a few tasty dishes.1. Fried crispy pork. This was tasty with a nice crispy outside and soft tender inside. Pork flavors come through and it’s nicely flavored.2. Fish and pickled cabbage noodle soup: the soup is mildly flavored, the fish is silky and pickled cabbage slightly tart. It’s not bad but I prefer it more tart.3. Beef belly hot pot noodle soup. This is quite good with strong flavors in the soup. Tried with medium spice and it wasn’t too spicy.4. Wonton soup: the soup is mild but the wontons are good. You can taste the seasoning and meat when you bite into them. Most wontons are tasteless but not these ones. Would eat these again.5. Soft tofu with red bean is really good. Sauce is like a caramelized taste with mung bean powder. Very tasty.Overall, a decent restaurant and worth making this a staple for those that enjoy noodle soups.“
“The Peking Duck tasted good but quite pricey. It’s only allowed to order the whole duck from the restaurant, not allowed to order the half duck. The whole roasted duck is for $45 now, and it came with the duck soup. The flour tortillas for wrapping the sliced duck meat and scallion were too thick and the sauce was a bit salty though. The service here was fine. The staff members came to check on us for several times. But I would not say they were friendly, as I did not see the smile on their face all the time when checking on us. They looked so serious.Parking: The parking lot is quite big.“
“order clear soup pot + lamb scorpion + white-cut lamb shoulder, with cabbage + radish + red bean cake + naan, they are all very good, my favorite is the white-cut lamb shoulder, fresh and mellow, the ratio of bones, meat, fat and tendons is just right , I would like to try the roasted whole lamb if I have the chance.“
“Saw this place on Instagram so brother and i tried it out. We are definitely coming back. The salt and pepper squid, black pepper and butter fried softshell crabs were so good! We also shared the hu tieu thap cam...pan fried noodles with beef, chicken and seafood in a brown gravy. It was all delicious!!!“
“"No English on the menu" is one rule of thumb for picking authentic Chinese food in the U.S., and TJ Food is the place, seriously.Jian bing guo zi (the featured food), you tiao, soy milk, and roasted chestnuts are sooooo dammnnn goooood!Yysy, Everything is AUTHENTIC in the Chinese traditional way. Thanks, TJ Food. You are the one I should be thankful for in 2023's Thanksgiving holiday.(One should make a mod for these aunties and uncles with the truck in the "Gunman Taco Truck" video game.)“
“Had a hankering for fried rice. The rice was decent, kinda bland but still edible/good. Never had scallion pancakes before and that was pretty good as well. The only thing I noticed is my total. I paid $20.37 for a pickup order. But on the receipt upon receiving my order was $18.47. So that sends off red flags in my head. Probably won’t return because of that.“
“First, this might be the best hot pot in Texas. The broths are so flavorful, the meats & veggies are super fresh, and DO NOT skip the noodles that are made in-house Second, the service and staff are impeccable, friendly, and knowledableThird, the venue is just gorgeous! I feel like I’m in a Studio Ghibli movie every time I eat hereI’ve been three times already and don’t plan on stopping!“
“The xiao long bao is good but not amazing. Scallion beef was delicious, and so was the scallion pancake. Service was very good, nice sweet ladies. One thing to note, the server will ask for 20% tip. We didn’t mind giving that because 20% is becoming the new standard and the service was good. But this may rub people the wrong way.“
“I enjoy the concept of this restaurant: you eat your meal of meat/seafood stew and then they add water and you can add your sides of additional meats and vegetables to create a hot pot.I shared my shrimp dish (medium) with two others. I think the medium size can be shared between three only if you order at least 4-5 sides later for the hot pot. The shrimp dish had at least 12 large shrimps which wasn't bad. I wish the shrimp was already peeled because it was difficult to peel since it was scorching hot.Our friends ordered the beef brisket which was delicious and easy to eat (no bone or peeling necessary) so I'd recommend that if you come. I thought all the dishes would be comparable but differ in the meat we ordered but our shrimp dish seemed to lack potato and we wish that it had been present to balance the other intense flavors of the dish (onion, ginger, bell peppers, shrimp). As for the sides, the dumplings (6) did not have much filling, they weren't worth it. I really enjoyed the chiba tofu, the enoki mushroom, blood curds. We also got glass noodles, potato, corn on the cob, and Chinese cabbage which weren't remarkable. Also to note, despite reiterating that we wanted our dishes to be mild, both of our stews ended up being medium spice level unfortunately.Overall, I really enjoyed the quality of the ingredients and the natural flavors of the dish and hot pot!Side note: adding rice is an additional $1 per bowl which I wasn't a fan of.Service was alright- hot pot is labor intensive and the workers had to heat up / turn off the burner and pour water into the stew to turn it into hot pot for each table so I can understand why the staff was busy and may not have been as attentive as we'd like. While we had to call the waiters several times, either to refill the water in the hot pot, to give us napkins, or to give us the bill, they eventually got it done with a great attitude.Overall, it's a decent place for hot pot! It's not the cheapest nor the most expensive place ever but the ingredients were great quality and the dishes were very delicious!“
“Great little place we happened to find because their outdoor sign said, “$2.50 for beer”! ? So of course we went. We didn’t get food; we got two beer towers.➕The place also has karaoke!! So you can inp it your songs from the machine selection and sing away to restaurant guests. My bf and I perform sometimes so the crowd was loving it!“
“I love Guilin noodles! That's the first section of their menu. Get the "family" combo (C9) to try all the meats. It's a sampler platter for an individual. The second section of their menu, losifen noodles, is snail broth noodles, apparently very popular in China now (alternative spelling is luo si fen). I'm intrigued enough I may return to try that. Is it counter service or half service? We came when there were only two other tables and the gentleman staffing the restaurant came and took our order at the table, but we got up to get hot sauces, pickles and a water pitcher. Other reviews say it's counter service. Perhaps it depends on how busy they are. Prepare to get some things yourself.“
“This restaurant is located by the entrance to a large Asian supermarket. It used to be a different restaurant, few months ago, this new hotpot restaurant was opened in this location. The food is good, the interior is great and staffs are very polite.“
“I recently had a great dining experience at Tan Tan. My server, Kiki, was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. She made sure our drinks were always refilled and that we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the Eggplant with Basil which was cooked perfectly and had a great balance of sweet and savory flavors. The Orange Chicken was also very good, with a crispy coating and a sweet and tangy orange sauce. The Beef Corn Soup was a hearty and flavorful starter, and the Fried Pork Intestines was a delicious and adventurous option.Overall, I had a great experience at Tan Tan Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Chinese or Vietnamese meal in Houston.“
“I’ve tried all the Chinese takeout restaurants in a 2 mile radius, and this one is the best one! Food is fresh, crab Rangoons are extremely crispy and delicious, the General Tso’s aren’t overly/sickly sweet, the lo mein noodles are good. Great portion size and prices. Definitely my go-to!“
“Great place for a tasty meal at a reasonable price, we came in expecting it to be a regular Chinese buffet, but were surprised it was all vegetarian and vegan dishes. We loved the food, it was very good and very filling.Highly recommended!! :)“
“Owner was so sweet! Food was great! Loved that I found a restaurant with Teo Chew dishes too!! My kids devoured the green beans and oyster pancake appetizer dish. Husband loved the Mongolian beef and curry chicken. The sweet potato pancakes, walnut shrimp, and hot and sour soup were yummy too!“
“The food tasted good but not really authentic. The price was very good and satisfying; recommended to visit and try. There were boba drink and shaving ice sold in the restaurant.Parking: The parking lot shared with various shops and restaurants. Usually difficult to find the parking space“
“(don’t mind me digging in before i took a picture) the actual plates are so cute; they spent money on cartoony cat bowls and the actual food was amazing. i don’t eat much normally but i finished all of my food in one sitting that’s how good it was!! i got the curry chicken ramen it was so filling and had lots of flavor and extras in bowl; it wasn’t plain at all. this place is completely underrated; i went in on a saturday afternoon and i was the only person there!! more people should be eating here. the service was obviously amazing there was only one person working but he made sure i was attended to“
“sesame chicken is some of the best in the area. Always tender and good flavor on the sauce, however, for the price of the entrée, it’s really about the same amount of chicken as the lunch portion. We have big portions here in Texas, I understand we don’t need to be eating that much? But for $15 I expect a little bit more to be left over when I’m done eating it considering I don’t even eat a lot“
“This was my first time ordering take-out from this very busy restaurant. Will definitely return. The BBQ pork fried rice was freaking amazing. Will definitely order again. The beef noodles were good, but did not digest as well next day. Tasted good, but maybe too oily in the end. Would not order egg rolls again, but want to try other items. They use fresh and good ingredients. Want to try something with vegetables next time. Will try Peking duck with rice in a couple of weeks.“
“Pretty good food, really love the shrimp eggrolls. My only complaint is that the prices are marked up on grubhub but its understandable because of network fees that they have to pay so I can't blame for that. Probably won't order yall through grubhub but I'll just order take out and pick up from yall instead.“
“This is the best porridge I have ever eaten in the United States. I am from Shunde, Guangdong, and grew up eating porridge. The porridge here is made with real ingredients and no MSG. The braised meat is also delicious, and the pig intestines are very clean. I will recommend this restaurant every time I go to Houston! I think the braised pig's trotters are average, it's not that they taste bad, and the hair on pig's trotters here in the United States is usually not plucked lol“
“The cuisine here is exceptional, particularly the variety of dumplings on offer, which I highly recommend. My rating is four stars; the food certainly warrants five, but the owner seemed quite displeased on the day of my visit. It's unclear why there was a lack of hospitality, but I believe that everyone can have an off day. Despite this, I'd still suggest giving this place a try.“
“TLDR: Probably the best place for authentic Xi’an food and Xi’an style noodles in the Houston area.Xi’an food is quickly becoming one of my favorite cuisines, so I was very excited to try Uncle Lee’s Cafe Xi’an menu! They are a family-run restaurant with a no-frills vibe that is reminiscent of hole-in-the-wall shops in Chinatown. The hand ripped noodles served in their 油泼面 (oil-splashed noodles) reminded me of Xi’an Famous Foods in NYC, as they were thick, chewy, and yummy, with a good amount of flavor from their oil and seasoning. However, I think I still prefer the “tingly” spiciness (and Jiajiangmien) of XFF over Uncle Lee’s more traditional spicy sauce. Regardless though, as you can tell from the redness of my bowl, the spicier the better ? . I also tried the Chinese Hamburger and Big Platter which were both pretty good, and I’d recommend checking out their entire Xi’an menu if you stop by (or they have an entire Americanized Chinese food menu if that’s your preference haha). I will definitely be back!“
“Wide variety of gua bao so you can try different things each time you come or find something that fits your taste. I have ordered delivery from here but also had it in person. Unfortunately, the day we went in person the AC was not working and it felt like a greenhouse in the dining area. The food was still good though!“
“EXCELLENT service!! The food was amazing!! Everything was fresh and hot. The fried rice was the best we've ever had. This was just a lucky find on our route. It's about 45 minutes away from our house but we'll make the drive to eat here again. This place was great!!!“
“Not bad at all! Perla's Kitchen has the following strengths:#1. It is made to order so it is always fresh and hot.#2. For their chicken and broccoli, they don't seem to use chemicals to tenderize the meat and the broccoli has just the right amount of firmness. But most importantly, #3, I can pair it with a Mexican Coke!“
“This family owned American Chinese restaurant has been in Meyerland for many years. I have been coming here for over 20 years, everything we have ordered are great American Chinese dishes. I love the general Tso’s chicken is lightly bartered with chicken breast and the soups come with thin crispy noodles. Don’t forget to ask for the spicy chili oil as it make everything taste better with a nice kick with each dish. The inside reminds me of a restaurant with traditional Chinese decor.“
“Very popular Vietnamese buffet and they always seem to be pretty busy. It's located on the second floor and the space is expansive. The portions are small so you can try a lot without wasting any food. You can always get more of things you like. Lines move very fast and there is a lot of try. It's a great value for lunch or dinner. Dinner cost more but they often have steak and lots of seafood options that don't have during lunch. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. It's located in a strip mall with shared parking but there are plenty of spaces. Worth trying if you are in the area!“
“Ordered their bento box and upgraded to purple rice. Total of 8 dollars or 7.5 for white rice as of Dec, 2023. Would recommend the steam egg, tofu, the beef with carrots and radish, and braised chicken. Very nice for the price. Will come back!“
“Tandoori Chicken Momos were the Bomb! Burnt garlic fried rice was yum too. Green Chili noodles and Veg Manchurian were a bit disappointing, lacking flavor. Fast service, decent ambience, overall a good experience. I'm definitely going back for the Tandoori Momos ?“
“My first time here and wow, genuinely impressed! The shrimp fried rice is fantastic! The shrimp was deveined, cleaned and delicious! The young man working was AWESOME! He is so sweet and genuine. We need more people like him. Keep up the good work and good food?“
