“We’re always looking for good Chinese food in the area, and happy to have stumbled upon this one. My husband and I ordered crispy beef, duck wraps, house lo mein and general tso’s chicken. The owner said we ordered too much lol

Crispy beef was very unique. Tasted good, it was fried in thick strips as opposed to the thin strips you usually see, and stayed crunchy throughout.

General Tso’s chicken was good too; large juicy chunks of meat with a good sauce.

Lo mein was great - our 3 year old ate half of the dish himself. The house lo mein was good because it had beef, chicken and shrimp all mixed together.

The only miss for us were the duck wraps. While the pancakes and hoisin sauce tasted good, the duck was way too gamey for our taste and we didn’t love the vegetables that came with it. The owner noticed we didn’t eat it and she recommended that next time we try the Cantonese style roast duck; less gamey and taste better.

We also got a pina colada smoothie which was fabulous!!

True to their restaurant name, they played opera music in the background and had an ongoing video of classical dances on the wall.

The owner was so attentive to our son, gave him crayons to draw with, and kept our water/ tea filled at all times.

Unfortunately we were the only people in the restaurant for dinner that night, I hope more people come try their food! We’ll definitely be back to try more things!“

“My neice wanted to go to her favorite place for her 18th bday, so my sister called the Chin Chin Cafe and they said no problem. They had reserved tables when I arrived so I could decorate. Raymond was the MOD and was very helpful. We also had great customer service from the 3 employees working that night, it could not have gone any smoother! The timing of the food coming out was perfect!! Everything from the appetizers to the sushi to the main course dishes were delicious and plentiful. All our guests, especially the bday girl, were very happy. if you have not tried them yet, do yourself a favor and do so. “I’m vegetarian and was very happy with food and service here. They clearly told me which items could be made vegan, which were all the rice and noodle dishes as well as the tom yum soup. They added tofu to every dish and it was all delicious. Mild spice was the perfect spice level, we got medium spice with the soup. That was a bit beyond my threshold, but the flavor was still so good. All of my items were labeled vegan on the boxes, which was reassuring. Glad to have authentic Thai food in Poolesville!“

“Overall, the food was impressive for a pick up order. Between the green curry, shrimp pad thai, and chicken satay, each dish was incredibly flavorful and well done. The pad thai was a highlight for sure with the noodle texture being perfect and savory profile balancing each component well.

My critiques are that the pick up order took 50 minutes to complete. I am not surprised given how once I arrived (peak dinner time on a Saturday) the restaurant was PACKED. In terms of the food preparation, I was slightly disappointed that the green curry only had 3 pieces of eggplant and the pad thai had 5 shrimps despite being $4 extra.

I would be curious to try the dine in experience when it’s not so busy. All the dishes on their menu sound amazing to try and when I walked in their bar was non stop making drinks which looked like a good sign.“

Recommendation to the owner…offer wonton noodles in a wet and dry form. Wet is what you do now. Dry you cook the noodles and add the noodles, wonton, and buk choy to a platter, and pour the soup in a smaller bowl on the side. The noodles and wonton stop cooking this way and don’t turn into mush. Also, invest in a jar of sambal!“

There is a great variety of dishes so there is something for anyone. Food checks are also provided to assure that the quality of the meals are always consistent. Drinks: The Thai tea is stellar, perfect. A little too sweet for my usual preferences, but combined with their water it creates for a perfect hydration combo to cleanse the pallate and fully savor the delicious Thai cuisine flavors. Their bar contains a great variety of drinks and spirits which I look forward to trying out soon. Service: They have some of the friendliest, most efficient, and knowledgeable servers. Always smiling, refilling water cups, answering all sorts of questions, and paying attention that the guests are taken care of properly.
