As fans of Persian cuisine and frequent shoppers at Yekta Market in Rockville— having recently tried our hand at making Persian dishes like Fesenjan at home— coupled with all of the culinary accolades— we had high expectations for JOON. It not only met but exceeded them. Mast-o Musir, yogurt dish with Persian dried shallot and rose petal, was exceptional— more elevated and nuanced than any we’ve had. The mushroom Khoresht stew with white truffle was another highlight, offering perfectly balanced flavors something hard to do with white truffles and a satisfying richness, complemented by the perfectly crunchy Tahdig, iconic golden rice crust. The braised lamb shoulder which Yacine suggested was the undeniable highlight of the meal I which each dish was excellent. Tender and flavorful, it was paired beautifully with texture. It’s a signature dish that rivals the best we’ve ever had, bringing to mind the legendary Bo Ssam pork shoulder from David Chang’s Momofuku— bold, unforgettable, and expertly prepared. The Gormeh Sabzi, short rib stew with its delicious sour depth, was excellent but couldn’t quite match the lamb’s showstopping brilliance. Two very minor points. While the food and service are exceptional, the main dining room lighting would benefit from dimming. A water filtration water system could make a big difference as well. JOON has firmly secured its place as a must-visit dining destination for us. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu.“

“I’ve been to SOST twice now and I’ll be making it my third this Friday without a doubt. I’ll tell you this was a top tier experience from beginning to end each time I’ve come, but this time particularly takes the cake. The ambiance is so unbelievably warm and vibey, the real standout has to be the music mix and the way it really transcends your dining experience truly. I was sitting in Michelle section and she was such a doll! I felt taken care of and catered to the whole time

“Absolutely amazing experience! We reserved two tables - one for our 17 y/o son and his friends. He was celebrating his birthday and the second table for our party of 3. Tony delivered outstanding service to both tables and made the experience so memorable. The cocktails were delicious (the Maverick was quite yummy). The food was incredible. Highly recommend the wagyu dumplings, the lobster tacos and the ribeye!!! The manager came by and checked on both tables which is always a nice touch. “Enjoyed a very good dinner at the Parthenon last night. It was quite busy. For appetizers we had a lovely hummus platter with beautifully warmed pita bread a accompanied by freshly cut cucumber slices and tomatoes; warm Shrimp Saganaki that is served in a light fragrant tomato sauce with feta and a generous portion of grilled swordfish with lemon potatoes and mixed vegetables. We also relished the Greek white wine from Santorini-- it was great! Eduardo was our server; he was attentive and very helpful. Ask to sit with him when you go.“

“This restaurant keeps getting better and better. I love the option to choose from the traditional evening star or the Hi-Fi menu, and the abundant outdoor seating. The ahi tuna was scrumptious as an appetizer, and the halibut was super fresh. My husband loved the jambalaya, and he is a big fan of HI-Fi barbecue.“

“First time back since renovations and wow what a story this place is. It started with the chicken & waffles. The meat was really pink and hard to bite into so I decided to do french toast instead. (Minus the almond cookies.) and it was delicious but it was soft as butter so I had to request a spoon 😮 On top of that, the bartender complimented not only my neurodivergent tattoos 🏳️‍🌈♾️ but also gave me a free mocktail. Though I will warn you it’s real strong. I tasted mostly lemon but it had a hint of maple and tea. Which is ironic because strong taste is why I prefer tea over coffee (if I had to pick between the two). Regardless, these people deserve some love especially in the economic crises we have.“

However, the staff at Space went above and beyond to ensure my meal was not only safe but thoroughly enjoyable.

Upon informing the bartender, Josue Vasquez, about my allergy, he immediately reassured me and took detailed notes to communicate with the chef, Marcel Che, and Sous Chef, James Jones. What really impressed me was their proactive approach: Chef Che personally came out to discuss my dietary restrictions and preferences. On hand, there was not such an enhancement for my dish so they crafted a special dipping sauce on the spot, ensuring it was free from any allergens and tailored to my taste.

The attention to detail and genuine concern for my well-being made the entire dining experience incredibly comfortable and pleasant. The food was delicious, and knowing that it was prepared with such care made it even more enjoyable. “I DO NOT fully recommend Air Restaurant. I don’t do this. I usually experience a new place and reserve that experience for myself. But I want to sound an alarm for anyone looking for an EXCLUSIVE experience at Air lounge. I just left. Let me set the stage for you. Atmosphere is great! Venue, great! And our service was very friendly and helpful… let’s get to the main bits…. If you are interested in “VIP BOTTLE SERVICE” please know that there is a 2 hour limit. This was never communicated to us. Not once! We paid the fee. Bought food. For roughly a $500 tab (gratuity was included) but we were told at a certain point that we had to “finish up”. Before we were done with our bottle! No where on the website did (does) it indicate that there was/is a two hour minimum (we provided recipes to the manager on duty). So you can imagine our surprise when the staff approached us with this news. To make things worse… I asked the new folks sitting next to us if they’d bought the VIP bottle service. She said “no, we just reserved the booth. No fee. Excuse me??? Jokes on us in guess. Myself, and the people with me, where celebrating. We paid for the premium “VIP” experience and we’re told we had to “wrap up” before we finished our bottle! WHAT DOES “VIP Bottle service” mean exactly to Air Restaurant??? Do not get VIP service here. It means nothing. We paid our money (plus gratuity). So they got theirs. But did we get ours… Na! Be cautious. Save money. Just reserve a table. Attached is an example of an event happening next week, currently on their web site. As you can see… no mention of any 2 hour limit. Proceed with caution. Also, I did some deep research to find the “2 hour table” reference I was presented with by the manager. Found this on Yelp/Open Table. (See attachment) Does this actually apply to VIP ($300+) “Bottle service” tables!? Or just the regular tables!? Someone please help me understand! What does VIP REALLY mean here? And also…. Who’s going directly to “open door” To make a reservation with them? You’d most likely visit their website… Right? Can someone please help me make this make sense?“
