“I promised the owner of this joint that I'd write a glowing review, since I rhapsodically praised his talents in person earlier today, and I'm thrilled to do so.

The Brassica Oleracea is, quite simply, the greatest sandwich I've eaten in my life. It's a delicious mix of carefully considered ingredients that combine perfectly into a sweet and savory blend, and the textures all interplay perfectly. The focaccia is outstanding. And the broccoli is flawless - the char is incredible, and there's not a hint of sogginess. If you're a vegetarian, you'll be delighted. And if you're a meat eater, you'll also be pleased - every sandwich on this menu is an imaginative and delicious feat.

It's bare-bones, and extremely clean. You punch your order into a kiosk, and they have a modest selection of drinks (there's also water with paper cups available). There's a little area outside where you can find a table and eat. If you're looking for a sit-down experience indoors where you'll be fawned over by a waiter, this isn't it. But if you're starving and want a creative and substantial lunch, this place totally has you covered.

I hope The Wich Lab is around for a long, long time, and I'm excited to bring more Charlottesville visitors to this fabulous eatery. This town has so many stellar dining options, but this little unpretentious sandwich place is right at the top of the heap.“

“This shop is a special find filled with character and owned/operated by a terrific local family. Whether you dine in and sit outside to people watch on the downtown market — or you get a massive to-go order for a big group… you are sure to be delighted!“

“Cool spot across from campus. We needed to grab a very quick lunch before starting a history tour of UVA. Thought, bagels are fast....we made the right choice. We each made a bagel sandwich order. Ham, Turkey and a PBJ. Bagels were extremely fresh like someone's Grandma is boiling them in the back. We ate like the locals and will definitely recommend to everyone.“

“Unironically one of the best sandwiches in Charlottesville (which sadly doesn’t have an insanely high bar).

I got the elliewoods club which was super tasty. My only complaint was the bread is a little skinny and they just laid some fat pieces of lettuce on top so I had to fold it onto the sandwich. Other than that, no notes in particular. The house dressing was awesome as well, and they are generous by both putting a lot on the sandwich and providing a little dip cup on the side.

The chip ledge is hilarious with a wide selection to choose from. There are actually a couple tables inside of the joint; I’d estimate 10 people could comfortably eat inside.

Will 100% be returning to Take It Away in the future. It’s definitely become my biggest reason to venture to the corner (well that and moge tee).“

“Love the fun theme of this restaurant with horse related menu items and decor. Enjoyed the turkey sandwich (with provolone, lettuce, tomato, and red onion on a delicious warm sub roll) and also a Citation smoothie (peanut butter, chocolate, and banana) plus a bag of Vickie’s sea salt and vinegar chips. All very tasty. They fulfill their stated mission to provide, “fresh, high quality, great tasting food at a reasonable price in a clean friendly restaurant.” Love that they support fair wages for their employees and giving back to their community too. My server, ALYSSA, cheerfully explained the menu options and I was impressed that CARY JACKSON, the owner was working in the kitchen. A winner of a restaurant!“

“My Door Dash driver forgot the second bag of my order and failed to respond when I reached out. I called the store and spoke with Jared, who found the rest of my order and offered to deliver it himself! This kind of customer service is hard to find these days! I would give 10 stars if I could! Jared went above and beyond to help a group of hungry nurses who LOVE Chicken Salad Chick! The food here is always fresh and delicious. We will continue to order again and again!!“

“I had Jersey Mike’s years ago and wasn’t impressed. Today I went in to grab my wife lunch as she had a coupon and I couldn’t be more impressed!! Sub was amazing and the service was even better. I highly recommend getting it Mike’s way!“

“The crew working around 1:30 p.m. on 06/20 was fantastic. I was recently diagnosed with Alpha-gal syndrome and have been very limited in what and where I can eat. I walked in unsure whether the staff would be willing to take the extra precautions needed for my food or if they would be frustrated by the request, as I’ve experienced at some other places.

When I explained my allergy, the gentleman who took my order was incredibly kind and sincere. He assured me that their crew takes allergy precautions seriously and explained that they would cook my protein on foil and change their gloves to help prevent cross-contamination. His reassurance immediately put me at ease.

His name is Joey J., and he is the assistant manager. Joey, thank you for your kindness, professionalism, and understanding. We need more people like you in this world. Your willingness to go the extra mile made a huge difference, and I truly appreciate it.“
