“This was my first time at any hotpot restaurant, and reviewed as a person with a food allergy. (Not celiac, allergic to wheat)1. When you make a reservation, you can not be seated without the whole party on site.2. The sauce bar is messy and disorganized. I got a little overwhelmed trying to make a sauce from a first-timer. I wasn't the only one as others who walked up said they had no idea what they were doing or where items were either. Almost all of them had soy sauce (wheat), so it would be nice to have alternatives. There was something called special soy sauce, but I had no idea what that was, and there was no explanation. There was also no explanation from the person taking our orders. A gluten-free soy sauce in a bottle would be helpful. Of maybe even a 'how many spoonfuls' are recommended for the sauce.3. Our waiter only had half an idea of what was going on. We were a party of 4, and our items got mixed up, or what we individually requested was not brought out. He is marking every single individual item for everyone. I have heard that others leave a tablet on the table for individuals to order, and then the food is brought out. This may help with this situation.4. As someone with a food allergy, I had to repeatedly ask about it because there are so many components. The broth is the first. The waiter finally showed me an ingredient list of the broths on his phone. This would be much more convenient and helpful to just be listed in the menu.5. As the hot pot broth dwindled, a cup of plain cold water was dumped back on my bowl. It dilutes the flavor significantly, and a little more broth on request would be appreciated.6. When anyone at the table was ready to reorder, we had to wait for the waiter to come back, and they were BUSY. Again, a tablet at the table would help this.7. More adequate utensils left or delivered to the table would be helpful to help prevent contamination. You don't want to use raw meat tongs on cooked food and/or veggies.8. Because they were so busy, we had to wait quite a while to get our tab. Again, a tablet would be most helpful.Overall, it was a good experience. I think this process could be streamlined to make it great. I was happy with the option and broth list overall, and the food was good.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free“
“My tongue was tingling from all the umami?. All the food we ordered was amazing. The best restaurant I’ve tried in Virginia so far.We ordered- [ ] Tomato Beef Brisket Noodle Soup- [ ] Mongolian Beef Stir-Fried Noodle- [ ] Chicken fried rice- [ ] wonton with oil- [ ] Kung Pao Chicken w. Stir-Fried NoodlesI would order all these dishes again (except the rice, we ordered that for my son and he didn’t eat it ?he’s afraid of ). Everything was delicious. The noodles ? , the sauce and tender meat. All the dishes were perfect. Oh and the soup broth was packed with flavor too. Can’t wait to come back ?“
“My fiancé and I love this place and come often! Food is cooked in front of you and always fresh!I do want to provide some opportunities for improvement on the restaurant's end though. Had my fiancé not have showed me what to do during my first visit, I would have had no idea. I think each table should have a menu explaining what to do (create your own bowl, no need to wait for waiter) with maybe a few options for really yummy bowls (what to add, how much sauce, etc). I think it'd be awesome to have a small section with the history of how Mongolian bbq came to be too.Additionally, there have been a couple of times I have gone through the line and noticed the meats were not at proper temperature. This is of course a huge safety issue. With my visit last night, this was not an issue. But something to keep an eye on.I do think that an employee needs to focus on keeping the bar area clean too. Very, very often are there dropped foods on the floor and around the counter, and be careful when you get to the sauces as this is always extremely messy. I think having the clear screens makes it much harder to get the sauces, but also the positioning of the sauce bins too. If they were all in one line it would be easier. I think this is a better idea too due to it preventing contamination of sauces (example: dropping lemon water in the garlic water). I have seen this happen often. Also, I would like to see the employees cleaning with a disinfectant, not just windex. While I do love windex, I just don't think that is safe to use per food safety standards. Bathrooms could use fixing and hiding of cleaning supplies.Lastly, I do think it should be asked if tables want the bread or rice. I often deny the soup, but don't get around to denying the rice or bread before the waiters walk away. Often times, we do not touch either food items as we just don't want it. It is such a waste :(I think there's a lot of opportunities to improve. This all said, I love the food and the price is very affordable too. We will be back!“
“Beautiful dining room, absolutely delicious cuisine, roomy tables, and convenient lazy susans make family style dining here a pleasure. The staff were all so sweet, knowledgeable, and attentive. They were also incredibly patient with our family that included a worn out toddler. They gave her high fives and giggled with her and made us feel so welcome and not obnoxious. You've GOT to try P1 - the diced chicken. It's so spicy and scrumptious. Can't wait to come again next time we're in town. Thank you Judy's!Kid-friendliness: They make parties with kids feel welcome, and it's a family crowd that comes. No shame in having a spirited toddler!“
“OMG China Wok has good food and good prices. As soon as you walk up the really nice ladies are handing you samples and all of it was good. They pack that food on too! 2 meats and 1 side 10.50Worth the drive. They have other locations but this one had the highest reviews.“
“I ordered chicken and broccoli, shrimp egg rolls, and vegetable lo mein for take out. My order was ready when I arrived. The food was delicious. The vegetables were fresh and crispy and the chicken & broccoli sauce was flavorful and there was plenty to put over my white rice. This is one of my new Chinese spots!“
“09/27/23This place was very reasonable in their pricing and very quick also. I did egg roll and beef and broccoli. My standard first time go to. The egg rolls were good and the the main dish was very tasty. The sauce was very good and the veggies they put in were nice. The prices are excellent. Probably been here a long time so they don't have to raise prices. Their rent is probably at descent rate. I would try something different next time. I bet it will be great. I must try. I would drive a bit extra to eat here. Staff was friendly.“
“I do not say it lightly that this is by far the best chinese takeout restaurant in Portsmouth. They are extremely polite as well. I've got to say first, I am not someone who typically likes egg rolls but they were surprisingly good, texture and flavor were both good, I'll have to try with sauce next time! The orange chicken was delicious with a good blend of flavors that give it a dynamic taste, the chicken was not spongy or overcooked. Broccoli is something that alot of places can't make to save there lives, but this place it was perfectly cooked, the white rice was not hard or over cooked. None of the food tastes or smells like chemicals like others in portsmouth, both rated 3.2 stars on google. This place I will have to give an 8/10While not the best chinese place ive had, that was in Washington, d.c. it is more than worth the price. For a quick at home chinese takeout I'd definitely recommend.Entree 4.5/5Vegetable 5/5White Rice 5/5Store 4.5/5Customer service 5/5Wheelchair accessibility: Would be easily accessible for wheelchair individuals“
“The GC I went to in the Deep Creek are of Chesapeake was on point. Kind of typical of strip mall Chinese take out joint I guess. No frills but the food was very good. The shrimp egg rolls (a personal favorite) were excellent, my favorite style of shrimp egg roll anyway. The entire order was really good and since moving quite far from where my favorite place, I'm super pleased to have close to home replacement.“
“I gave this place a try and it was really good! I called in a to go order around 845 and I was worried I'd miss them before they closed. I got there right at 9 and my food was ready to go. The lady was really nice. I ordered the General Tso's chicken combo. The chicken was hot and crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The white rice was perfect. I've been going to the same place for the a long time before this but I'll definitely be coming back here once in a while.“
“My wife loves fried crabs and we have tried them at many places but Chen's Garden is absolutely the best place we have discovered for fried crabs. They are very consistent and put out delicious fried crabs with a nice thick breading every time. Besides being delicious the crabs are also reasonably priced.Chen's is your typical Chinese takeout restaurant located in Liberty Plaza shopping center in SoNo. There is no dining room so this is strictly a takeout restaurant. Besides the typical Chinese menu items there a few American food items as well (chicken wings, french fries, onion rings, fried fish, chicken gizzards, beef liver, etc...) They also have fresh fish made to order. Everything I've tried has been fresh hot and delicious but what separates Chen's from other Chinese takeout restaurants is their awesome fried crabs.Chen's Garden is a popular spot in the neighborhood so they can get pretty busy at times. The common parking lot shared with the other businesses in the shopping center is not very big and can get pretty crowded at times but I've always been able the find a spot to park.Staff is always friendly and helpful. Chen's Garden only takes cash so be prepared for that when you order. If you forget, like I did once, there is an ATM in the nearby laundromat.“
“Ordered dinner for delivery and it took 35 minutes (there were 4 meals total). I was shocked by how fast and fresh it was. Everything tasted great and was molten when it got to us, will definitely order again and also recommend! Only spoke to 2 people in the process and both were efficient and friendly.Would specifically recommend the orange chicken and chicken lo mein!“
“This has been my go to Chinese restaurant in Chesapeake forever. The food is always awesome. The portions are generous and the price responsible for the times. I was go out of my way to eat here whenever ? And this was a lunch special for under $11 Delicious.“
“This place ticks all the boxes for classic Chinese takeout. Food is hot and tasty, did not have to wait long for my order, Woman at the front counter was very nice. The fried rice is a little different but still good.Listen, this is not some trendy, upscale, high dollar spot. It's solid takeout at a good price“
“We are from out of town, visiting with relatives & stopped here to get a bite to eat, in the rainy weather. There were several people in front of me waiting on their order when we placed ours. We didn't have to wait long for our order either. Food was hot and fresh. Restaurant was empty in the dining area, unsure if it was open for dining? We didn't ask. Everything was clean and tidy.Vegetarian options: Plenty of veggie options were available on this large scale menu. ???? Dietary restrictions: I have a lot of things I cannot eat and I was satisfied with my meal options here.Parking: There was plenty of parking.Kid-friendliness: Meal options were kid friendly.Something for everyone it seemed.Wheelchair accessibility: ♿️ accessible entrance & tables.“
“I've been going there for years! I really like the Shrimp Panci. And the Shrimp and Broccoli is great and it's a nice sauce not greasy. I really don't eat fried foods like that, but their chicken wings are pretty good. The ice tea good! I think the problem with the one of ladies is might not understand our English to well, the other lady is nice to me! Now the only problem I have is they don't have a place in Suffolk and I have the ride all way to Chesapeake! And I don't even think they know where Suffolk is!“
“We drove all the way from Camden, NC to get food here. We've got many take away Chinese food places near us and they are not good. We absolutely love the fresh hot tasteful food this restaurant offers and it is most definitely worth the drive for us.“
“I have been a loyal customer for 20+ years; the best Chinese take out place in the area. A family owned/operated place that gets to know you; they know what you order each time - and are always super friendly. I have always enjoyed each meal; and it's always served in a very timely manner. For the low reviews... I'd say that they are wrong - I've never been disappointed with quality; quantity; or timeliness... period. I'd challenge anyone to find a better place.Regardless - I'll keep my loyalty and keep giving them my business!“
“We've been ordering from Jackie Chen since we moved to Chesapeake back in 2018. We've always had great service and great food! Tonight was the first night they've ever had a hiccup with our order. We ordered through Grubhub and a single order of fried rice was forgotten. When I called the restaurant, the gentleman on the phone was very courteous and helpful, and opted to have my order of fried rice made and drove it to my house himself. Thank you so much to the Jackie Chen staff for being so prompt in solving the issue. We will continue to frequent there for years to come!“
“Wow. They have the best Egg foo young's in town. Not like the usual recipe of other chinese take out restaurants. It reminds me of the old Ming's chinese near lynnhaven mall that has new management now. Im a new fan and will be coming back!“
“I was looking for a Chinese spot that'd be open past 9 PM on a Sunday and that lead me to China 1. My food was nice and hot and the wings were extra crispy. I ordered pickup and food was done within 10 minutes. The man who took my order was friendly.“
“Relatively new to the area and have ordered takeout twice from the Szechuan Inn. This is the best Chinese we have had in many years! The wonton soup is flavorful, the crunchy noodles are the best, and all the entrees have been excellent. Most recently I asked that the pepper steak entree be made extra spicy, and for the first time from a Chinese restaurant, it was very spicy, exactly what I wanted! Both times the takeout was in a box so things did not spill, which is a big deal when traveling 15 mins to home. Now our go-to restaurant for Chinese food, highly recommend. Definitely 5-Stars.“
“Hot & sour soup was very good. Crab Rangoon had very little filling. Spring rolls were good. Our first time and we ordered online and had a 20 minute time window but it ended up being 40 minutes. They were busy and I understand. We would go again for the soup for sure“
“With a steady stream of customers and fixed basic choices, it's not a restaurant, per se. It's a roadside stand. Which is just fine with me.Can't rate them compared to other restaurants. The sauce used is sweet to the taste. I heard a patron ask for extra grease in the dish. I turned around to see if the clerk and patron were smiling or about to fight. You don’t need a reservation nor expectation of fine dining. However, the cashier/server/Chinese menu interpreter is most pleasant“
“We ordered from here for the first time last night, and everything was great! The chicken teriyaki sticks were huge. Wonton soup, shrimp n broccoli, sesame chicken, crab rangoons, and chicken lo mein were all delicious! Delivery was fast and everything was fresh!“
“Friendly lady at the counter took my order. General Tso's & Pepper Steak combos (on a Sunday)... Comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Total came to $21.28. Fair price...& It had plenty of meat in each, was delicious, and still very hot when I got into it several miles away where I had to park my semi truck. Glad they were open on a Sunday.“
“Best Pork Lo Mein I've ever had. Pleasant staff and clean dining area. Will be a regular stop for me from now on. If you're a snobby self proclaiming "foodie", this is not the place for you. This place is exactly what it's designed to be. A place to get good food fast. Not the fufu pinkies out places you keep judging them against and moronically thinking they should aspire to be.“
“So happy I found this place. The Chinese restaurant in Moyock is below acceptable for consumption. I am willing to accept the commute to come to this place specifically. They are fast, delicious, and affordable. The facility is clean and I appreciate the online ordering as well.“
“This is by far my favorite hot pot place. The vibes are chill, the portions are perfect, the service is top notch. All the servers help each other out so your table is always taken care of. The little robot is cute and the birthday bear costume with sparklers when it's your birthday is awesome.“
