“very cute! i’ve been to other mamans and this location was just as pretty. it was a little crowded and chaotic, but expected for a sunday after a major holiday, and the staff were friendly and turned tables around quickly. the atmosphere was a little overwhelming for me and i wouldn’t be back on a weekend, but i wouldn’t mind checking it out on a weekday.

the ratatouille was very delicious— more of a stew consistency and the herbed feta was SO tasty. i only wish it wasn’t just a weekend exclusive. the quiche sarah was just okay. not bad but i wouldn’t pay ten dollars for it again. the food lacked salt but was otherwise good. the iced banana matcha was really tasty and the presentation was great!“

“From far away, it seems like a really cool hip place to be, but inside it just feels like something‘s missing. Like it feels a little devoid of character here and very generic. The avocado toast has what seems like Ken’s raspberry salad dressing drizzled on it, which was really offputting. I tried to get off as much as possible.
Service was kind of impersonal also. Just didn’t seem like people were interested in being there or making eye contact just a quick order and give you what you asked for, no sort of interaction or warmth.“

“Celebrated my birthday at Empress Coffee & Cocktails with my girls, and it was everything! The food and drinks were incredible -- we tried so many dishes and loved every bite. The Persian pizza (a house favorite) was full of flavor, the soup and grilled cheese combo was pure comfort, and the turkey + havarti sandwich, bacon egg croissant, and margarita pizza were all delicious and perfectly done. The drinks? Just wow. The espresso martini is an absolute yes! We also loved the butterfly margarita, lava-shak martini, and Malibu sunset -- all beautifully crafted and fun to sip. Plus, they offer a nice selection of wines and juices to purchase. Shots were order as well. Had too much fun didn't take pictures of all the food and drinks. The space itself is perfect for a girls' day or night out -- stylish and cozy with beautiful lighting and thoughtful décor. We especially loved the artwork of the girl with the pearl earrings -- such a fun and elegant touch! We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves, which made the whole evening feel extra special. Huge shoutout to Sam, the owner, who was such a warm and welcoming host. The atmosphere is also great, with a good balance of noise where you can still talk comfortably but it isn’t too loud to work in. The major downside is the terrible Wi-Fi. It never works and service isn’t always good enough inside to rely on a hotspot. With Wi-Fi and outlets being offered, it seems that this place would be great for remote work, but it ends up being quite frustrating.“

“This coffee shop is really unique in DMV. I have had Chai Teas but never heard of Cardamom Coffee. You can get it here under the name Mufawaar Coffee. It's brewed in big kettles that they will just pour over after you order. There are so many other coffee types I have to come back for.

The honeycomb dessert is a must try. There's cheese inside and honey drizzle on top. It's really a new taste for me and I loved it.

The staff was very friendly. They are not all from Yemen though. I don't know why I assumed so lol There's plenty of parking space.

The set up is also very nice for friends to hangout and talk. You can also go upstairs to work with a bit more peace. It's a good cafe I'd come back for!“

Some of the furniture feels a bit cheap, they use those millennial metal chairs you get at a brewery or an axe throwing place or those $30 burger places which feels very 2014 and out of place. When the furniture is eventually updated to match Reston's broader MCM style it will be the perfect coffee shop. Reston needs more places like this!“

“Met my cousin here after work and the place had a really welcoming energy without trying too hard to be trendy. We grabbed a table near the front window and ordered pasta, fries, and iced coffees. The fries came out crispy and properly seasoned instead of bland. My pasta was slightly cooler than expected in the middle, but the server replaced it quickly without acting defensive. Staff seemed genuinely attentive to customers instead of just rushing orders out. Definitely somewhere I’d choose again for casual meetups.“

“Located in the former Colada space, this is a good place to grab some breakfast or lunch. Menu has a lot of variety. You can get salads, bowls, wraps and plates. We stopped by for breakfast and enjoyed their take on breakfast sandwiches. The croissant sandwich was good, but a little too thin to hold the ingredients. I did like the sauce that came with it.

My daughter enjoyed her Perfect Egg sandwich. These are pretty substantial sandwiches. I wish they had mocha coffee, but they didn't. Will come back to try their salads or bowls. Nicely decorated as well with lots of outdoor seating in the back.“
