“Bartizan Events Venue was the perfect choice for my mother's 80th birthday party this weekend. The entire experience was outstanding, thanks to the venue's wonderful staff. From our very first meeting, they were professional, accommodating, and made the planning process a joy.

On the day of the event (August 9, 2025), the staff was incredibly attentive, and they went above and beyond to make the day magical for my mother. Guests were blown away by the food, and I've received countless compliments. One cousin even asked me if I thought she could get the recipe for the chicken!

The venue is conveniently located in Glen Allen with easy access to street parking and free public garages. I'm honestly a little sad the party is over because I loved working with Rachel and the team so much. I'm already looking for another excuse to host an event there. Bartizan is a definite five-star, full-service venue that I would recommend for any special occasion.”

“There’s rust on the buffets, the food was room temperature and the bathrooms look like they haven’t been cleaned in years. There is so much build up on the faucets and there is dried human waste smeared in the stalls. I left an entire plate of food sitting there because there was no way I was eating food prepared there after I saw the conditions presented to the public. I don’t even want to think about what the kitchen looks like.”

“Excellent I’m a known chef visiting VCU in Richmond, Virginia and saw there were great Chinese places. Since 1981 I’ve loved however not found many legit shredded pork in garlic sauce dishes. They nailed it, this classic Sichuan dish . When she placed on the table I had flash backs to Houston Texas the last time I actually ordered the dish as every place did it no justice. If you’ve never tried its spicy, salty, little acidic. Steamed rice has to be and was perfect. I started with a great hot and sour soup and then the green onion pancake. The pancake golden brown, crispy, cooked perfect. The soup a great blend had me sweating. Only negative is I’m from Georgia.”

“Food was delicous, I got the smoked wings with a side of collard greens. Some of the best wings I have had. I hate big wings and I hate soggy wings. These wings were normal sized and the skin was super crispy with a lot of seasoning on them. When I get them again I will get extra spicy ranch on the side because it was just so yummy.”

We enjoyed several excellent appetizers including ahi tuna tacos, shaved octopus and the best mussels on the planet! Entree’s we enjoyed were Tuna Poke Bowl, Fried Grouper Sandwich with pickled pineapple just to name a couple. All of us enjoyed our visit and look forward to going again!”

“We recently married in the rose garden at LGBG and hosted our reception in the Robins room. We chose LG because of the gorgeous setting - we didn't have to worry about decorating at all. The staff were phenomenal. From Lyn and Liz who were knowledgeable and prompt in their communications to Cassondra and her team - who were very accommodating of our guests with dietary restrictions, service was attentive, and they even had some extras we could borrow like table numbers. And the food was SO GOOD. We continue to talk about how fun and perfect our wedding was and LGBG made it so easy.”

I saw the “Red Beard’s Ghost” sauce and was contemplating it on some wings. The guy at the counter gave me a sample, and it was smooth with just a little heat. Flavorful. The ghost lured me in. I thought, no problem, I can handle this. I was wrong. So wrong. At home, I bit into a wing and suddenly I wasn’t in my kitchen anymore. I was on the deck of a pirate ship in the middle of a hurricane. My tongue was battling a flaming cutlass, my eyes were crying mutiny, and my soul was begging for mercy. Somewhere in the distance, I swear I heard a pirate laughing. This sauce didn’t just sneak up on me……it cannonballed into my mouth and raised its flag on my taste buds. Within minutes, I was sweating like I owed Red Beard back taxes in doubloons. 10/10 staff. 10/10 wings. 15/10 chance of seeing visions of pirate ghosts in your living room if you order this sauce. Would recommend… if you’re brave enough. So glad I had ranch to finish it all of… but now I’m scared of what will follow…dun dun duuun”

“Not the typical restaurant experience, just go into it knowing service is done a little differently here. The tacos were really good, even though the tacos al pastor were a different (greasier) recipe than other versions I've had before. The steak tacos were our least favorite, but the carnitas were great, and the amount of meat they served on them was substantial.

If you're here for the whole experience, it's fun that they have a variety of chips you don't normally see in the U.S., plus ice cream that's really unique! It wasn't our new favorite ice cream, but we love trying new things and we're really glad we came and tried a lot of the food.”

“Waygone is my favorite brewery in the west end. I’m always greeted by name with a smile when I walk in and feel welcomed. This is also a go-to for my husband and I if we are getting together with friends who have kids. They have lots of toys and a side room area for playing. My favorite drinks are Bluey and the rosé wine. I also love playing darts. My dad (who can be picky about beer) lives down the road and now comes in here weekly too to pick up to-go cans. 10/10 spot!”

“Aside from my family’s cooking, Mi Jalisco is the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! I was shocked to have such authentic Mexican food so far east in the US, but sure enough, it was delicious. Today was our last night living here so we had to enjoy it with Mi Jalisco one last time. Not only is the food delicious.. their portions are so big and the staff is the absolute best. The service is incredible. We became regulars and saw how much other regulars enjoyed their food, the atmosphere and the staff. We frequented the Ridgefield location(?) off of John Rolfe Parkway. Thank you to Martin, Jesus., Modesto, and the rest of the crew for making us feel at home when we were so far away from family. My wife likes it so much we are taking my mother-in-law back when she visits from Michigan.”

I alerted a staff member of what happened and that signage needs to be up. Staff needs to ensure to NOT leave excessive water when mopping and throw up signs.”

A true hidden gem that I think most people fly right by on a daily basis. We all got an order of the birria ramen and the birria balls. Both dishes were amazing and I can promise you will not leave feeling hungry. The food was fresh and well seasoned, packed full of flavor, and piping hot. You can not go wrong with either of those two choices. I am ready for a return trip to try the other dishes on the menu! The only real knock that I can give the experience was a bit slow for a work day lunch break, BUT I will follow that statement with there a massive delivery order ahead us that encompassed the delivery driver to take two trips to the car and five bags. I am going to give them a pass for that.”

“I was visit my parents and walked through our neighborhood to get some local coffee and breakfast on a Sunday morning. While I couldn’t sit/order inside because of the dogs, the barista was more than accommodating to take my order from their outdoor seating and bring me my food and drink. I don’t think it was on the menu but I ordered and espresso soda (espresso, club soda, vanilla syrup) and the barista was once again very accommodating and made it no problem. It was super good! I also ordered an egg and cheese on an English muffin which was delicious. Seemed like white cheddar and a soft fried egg. Would highly recommend this local place! I also appreciated how early they were open on a Sunday morning. I paid about $11 before tipping.”

“Habanero Mexican Grill has been my go-to spot for authentic Mexican food for several years now, and it consistently delivers when it comes to bold, flavorful dishes. The food here is absolutely delicious, with rich, vibrant flavors that make each meal feel like a true taste of Mexico. Whether it’s their tacos, burritos, or one of their specialty plates, you can always expect a meal that’s bursting with authentic taste. The fresh ingredients and traditional recipes have always been a huge draw for me.

However, over time, I’ve noticed a few changes that have slightly impacted my overall experience. One issue is that there can sometimes be a language barrier when placing orders, as not all of the staff are fluent in English. This has led to a few mix-ups with my order on occasion. Additionally, I’ve observed a subtle decline in the quality of the food lately. While it’s still good, it’s not quite at the same exceptional level it once was.

Despite these minor issues, I continue to frequent Habanero Mexican Grill because the food remains some of the best Mexican in town. I hope they address these concerns so that they can restore the consistently high quality that originally won me over.”

The service from our server needed improvement as we only saw her 3x (when seated, took order, brought check), she didn’t check in with us at all and had to ask the hostess to go find her.
