“Got a to-go order and honestly it was awesome. The place was packed and everyone seemed to be having a great time. It was just a pick up but service was still great. And the burger and fries were outstanding! Oh, and get the fried oreo, its amazing amd worth it! Definitely going back.“
“We decided to stop in Roanoke in the middle of a long road trip. Alexander’s ended up being a top highlight of our entire trip! From the service to the food, everything was top notch. The ambiance is sophisticated and relaxing with staff working as a team to make sure you enjoy every aspect of your visit. Every bite we took was delicious and you could tell was prepared with a high level of skill and passion. If you are in Roanoke, dinner at Alexander’s is a must!“
“My mother and I are traveling from NC to home in Pa. the hotel we are staying at recommended Hollywood's. the food and service was amazing. our server recommended all the food and after trying several things we know why. it was all delicious! our server Olivia was one of the best we ever had. (I was a server for many years so I know the hard work it takes to be one of the best and Olivia was the best) I hope when my mom and I left tonight we made Olivia's night. I recommend everyone try this place the food and service is AMAZING! if we ever travel this way again we will be visiting Hollywood's for sure!“
“We always have a Great Experience at Bernard's. Matt is Always so genuine he is an Amazing Server. We got our regular Butterscotch Banana pudding that is OMG delicious. We also got our regular order of BBQ wings they are so good also. We added Chicken and Dumplings this time and see we will definitely get it again, it is full of ingredients. Thank you to the Bernard Family.“
“Awesome spot, food was delicious, staff was pretty dang cool, I can see why this place has been open for over 90 years. Prices were unbelievable. Enjoyed hearing the locals order. Ignore all the negative reviews you might read, the sensitive sallies should've stayed home.“
“My husband and I went in to try some lunch one day and it was absolutely delicious. We went back the next day to try the breakfast and it was hands down the best breakfast. We've now taken our family with us and every time we ask the kids where they want to eat, they always pick Chip and Jo's. Great food, great service. It's hard to find good food and good service like this anymore. We highly recommend!“
“Creamy ice cream and pleasant service. Good hot fudge Sunday - treated myself after a big traffic jam on I 81 because a truck caught on fire. U only live once, so just get u something nice. I used to go here when a kid and a different owner, so I remember the location, I like the new vibe.“
“I took a notion driving by today and decided to give RT Smiths a whirl After browsing the menu I purchased a 8" Dogwood sub...WOW this thing was huge! Excellent sub built for 2, the meat was delicious and fresh, I will definitely be returning!“
“Wow! This is the place to be on a Saturday! Luckily it's a very large space that can accommodate everyone! You order at the bar and then have open seating. Several beer and kombucha options - and even a few NAs. We really enjoyed our meal here. Several TVs around to catch the game.“
“This place was awesome! I decided to stop here for breakfast on my way to the train; it's located right in the downtown square which was super convenient. The decor reminded me of rocky horror picture show which is a huge compliment. The food came out quickly and was delicious; the staff was friendly and even offered me a cup of coffee to go when they saw me grabbing my things to leave. This was a very enjoyable experience and I recommend stopping in!“
“This is the kind of place you’d find in a bigger city! There are very few other restaurants in Roanoke at this caliber. Top 3 in the area for sure. Definitely recommend calling in for a reservation ahead of time - they don’t have long hours and fill up quickly. Cocktails are creative, and typically on point. I absolutely LOVE their Chicken Liver Mousse and my husband said the Oyster Rockefeller some of the best he’s ever had. The small plates are alright, but the entrees and dessert definitely don’t disappoint!! Love the cozy, intimate vibe - great for special occasions and date nights ❤️“
“My wife called to see if they were open, and no one answered. I guess they saw they missed her call and called her back and apologized for not answeringThey are always spot on with their service!!!!They go above and beyondThe food is always greatLove this place“
“I had my first experience at Wildflour this weekend and it was far above and beyond my expectations! I ordered the eggs Benedict which were amazing! My husband ordered the French toast and it was so good I kept snagging bites of his! And of course I couldn’t go wrong with the bottomless mimosas lol. All In all, I wanna go back every Sunday!“
“We went Easter Sunday around 2:30 it was our first time. It was absolutely delightful, we were greeted and taken to are table the waitress stopped within a few minutes to are drink order and did we have any questions about the menu. I got pulled pork with french fries and hubby got the beef brisket with fries he stated it was so tender it melted in your mouth. My pulled pork was deliciousWe both liked the sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. We definitely plan on coming backWheelchair accessibility: Yes it is wheelchair friendly“
“Ive always ordered to-go and i usually order the supreme sirloin or the creole catfish bowl both are amazing this place is so underated one of the few places that actually care about their to go orders usually you get subpar quality from to go order but my to go order always makes it all the way back home still hot and “
“My favorite place to eat!! Our last visit, our server, Kenny, made the experience so amazing. She was so attentive and hospitable. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were perfect. The service was on point. Highly recommend. Will be back.“
“Let me start by saying I'm really picky about what I eat , when I went in initially they selected the wrong cheese and when I informed them, they just responded to give them a few minutes and they went and made it correct. When I got home and open the food. It was fresh and it looked good The taste was the stellar for me. I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was delicious. The portion is more than worth your dime. I will definitely order from here again ...probably often. Thanks for a great experience.???“
“Still fabulous a year later. Excellence is all aspects; menu- wow, food quality- incredible, service- personal and attentive and friendly. Craft cocktails are incredible and fair in quantity. Ambiance is cozy and comfortable yet casual. Just love this place!“
“I picked up my English granddaughter from the airport. Paul's was the first American resteraunt she had been in. She loved the food and was amazed at the big sizes. And that we can get free refills of coffee. Most of all the friendliness of the people.“
“After seeing the endless list of five star reviews, I wasn't sure if I should believe the hype, but after eating there you 100% should believe the hype the best pizza and cannolis in Virginia hands down The only thing we weren't the biggest fan of is that he didn't let us throw him a tip.Parking: It's part of a strip mall so there's plenty of parking“
“My husband and I made a reservation after Valentine’s Day to eat dinner here and made it a month in advance. This is an extremely elegant fine restaurant never requires a dress code of suit and tie or evening gown. This is definitely not a restaurant that you can wear blue jeans, boots, and a T-shirt to.Our dinner was $240 but that is to be expected for a fine dining restaurant inside of a Hilton Hotel.“
“Cheddar's food quality is consistently good across the several locations I have visited. Portion sizes are large! Watch out for the tabletop tablet. They may sneak in a $2.99 charge to your bill for playing a game you did not agree to play.“
“Delicious breakfast! Loved the Dogwood omelet. Very flavorful. The kids pancake was a hit too. Sweet and buttery with a good crisp exterior. The bear shape was super cute too. This place gets packed and they don't have a host to take your name, so expect to know who's before you and stalk your seating. They are expanding, adding the space next door... so hopefully that will help.“
“One of those wonderful older mom and pop places that have survived decades of change. Obviously, for a good reason! The staff were so nice. The food was hot and good. I loved sitting at the bar with the swivel stools and a greasy spoon sign above the food window. Definitely one of those places we need to frequent and appreciate.Kid-friendliness: The staff were patient and kind to my two littles.“
“I am not normally a fan of buffet style restaurants, but I was with a tour group, so Golden Corral was our chosen location for dinner while in Roanoke. The restaurant was clean, the food was plentiful and the staff friendly. BUT- one person really stood out and that was Venus, the Hospitality Manager! Venus greeted us at the door welcoming us with a sign that she made herself. She checked on us multiple times during our meal and even sent us on our way with a box of fresh chocolate chip cookies. ❤️ If you are ever in the area and need a place for a large group to eat, I would definitely recommend Golden Corral Town Square Blvd in Roanoke, VA and be sure to ask for Venus!“
“We ordered an egg and cheese biscuit and hash brown, and a smoked tofu on a vegetarian biscuit with grits. Best biscuit I've ever had, light and fluffy with good flavor. Wish they offered nom dairy milk for coffee, but we will return. If you are new like we were, it's an order at the counter set up with menus on the wall as you come in. There is outdoor seating available, first come first serve.Vegetarian options: TofuVegetarian biscuit“
“Lew's is a fantastic choice for a quick bite to eat and also has some of the best chicken wings in Roanoke! Everything we've gotten there has always been delicious, from wings, to pizza, to sandwiches, to burgers, to mozzarella sticks, and everything in between! Highly recommend!“
“Food was good.Reasonably priced.Plenty of Parking.Cornbeef Hash, 2 Eggs, 2 Pancakes 9.00Seating for 5 is limited to one table and seating for 4 average adults is crowded at their tables for "4".Counter stools available but limited during our visit.Except for seating overall experience was excellent and this place is great for breakfast.Homemade Vegetable soup looked great!“
“My family and I were here on Sunday March 31 . We ate at the restaurant and were treated like royalty! The plates, silverware and other items we used were all very clean and neatly presented to us. The food was delicious and very well prepared. I had chicken over rice, which was excellent!! Other people in my party had pizza and salad with chicken. Everyone was delighted and quite satisfied. Another great thing is that the veggies and lettuce are all very fresh!! Staff members are friendly and extremely nice!! I highly recommend PortaBella Italian restaurant ??“
“We had breakfast here and enjoyed it. I was searching for a place with “Chicken and Waffles” and got lucky that this place has a weekend special of it.The special was good, not the best I’ve had but still really good. The chicken especially was good, the waffle could have been better. The pancakes were pretty good and the service was excellent!I’d recommend you give it a try if you are in the area“
“Very quaint and rustic. Old charm and great service. The service is amazing and food is excellent. Their world-famous salad is fun, they bring. plate of lettuce and then the server has a plate that you choose all your toppings. A tableside salad bar. My Wienerschnitzel was nice and tender. The little Swedish meatballs were great. They even sear the kabobs at your table. Great wine selection. Excellent place, old fashion service, a must try.“
“Fantastic locally owned restaurant! We were in Roanoke to see our son perform at the Mill Mountain Theatre just down the street, and the hotel recommended this lovely establishment. Lots of fresh fish, terrific steaks, and the best shrimp & grits we have ever tasted! (And we're from the FL gulf!) Service is prompt, efficient, and appropriately friendly without being cloying. Ambience and tasteful decor are upscale but relaxed. We are coming back tomorrow night!“
“Nice find in Roanoke. Visiting a relative and looking to sample local eatery. Village grill didn't disappoint! Very friendly staff and we happened to be there on thursday, half priced burgers! Sooo Hokie burger it was. Everything was fresh and delicious and served quickly. Highly recommend. Thanks guys.“
“Have passed by this place a few times while downtown, but never gone in and was not disappointed! It's larger inside than expected with three floors of seating and has a few larger tables for bigger parties. All the food we got was good and came out fast. It was around 2 pm on a Saturday when we went and wasn't overly busy. We particularly liked the seating at the top because we had a good view of the City Market Plaza. They had a few TVs playing bearing sporting events if that's your thing, and had both alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. We ordered the Craft Ginger Beer and lemonade and the Ginger Beer was good without being too spicy while on the other hand the lemonade was very tart. A little added sugar balanced it out, but the note is for those who like it that way. Prices were fair. Spent about $27 with Appetizer (Price split between two), Drink, and Food. Will eat here again! Food ordered: Three Notch'd Nachos, Hatch Chile Burger, Peach and Chile Chicken Sandwich; Photos: @nokesidefoodie“
“I ordered Chicken Parmesan to be delivered by Door Dash. When I got it, the entree was steamy hot. There was enough of it to feed 2-3 people. It was very good. The Caesar Salad was fresh and tasty. Garlic bread was included. I will order from Uncle D’s again. I will probably ask for extra tomato sauce to go with all the noodles.“
“This place is a fantastic find as we traveled south. I've pinned it to our next trip south so that we can experience something new next visit. The food and craft beer were spot on. Can't wait for our next visit!Parking: Plan ahead, they get busy during the dinner rush. It's still well worth the wait. Your not going to find any better for at least a hundred miles.“
“I’ve always wanted to try. There are some things that could make this a 5 star experience.First things first, a smoothie and a wrap cost me over $20 and that was with a tip. Without the tip is was $17 and change. That is very expensive. The smoothie was pretty basic, it didn’t have that veggie taste I’m used too. And maybe it’s the smoothie I got but it was really sweet and it was hard to know if it was a healthy smoothie vs. sugar loaded because there are no calories listed. They appear to be a ‘health food place’. They sell salads, soups, wraps, and smoothie bowls. But there are zero calories for any item. That’s a no no for me as I am currently tracking my calories. I feel like they should take the time to figure out the calorie counts for what they make. That can be done for free on myfitnesspal by creating your own recipe. My wrap was actually good and very fresh. I wouldn’t mind trying other wraps here but again, because I am on a strict diet, I need to know the calories. Maybe it’s 400 calories and maybe it’s 800? There is no telling so I wouldn’t recommend it as a regular spot for people on specialized diets.Lastly, the cashier was nice but she wasn’t really helpful or engaging and it was my first time there. Friendlier cashiers and listing calories at a minimum would result in a higher rating from me.“
“My family RAVES about the food. I did not try the food...just there to pick up a cake. BUT the chef was my cake ? baker! She also made me #vegan cupcakes. Sweets By Tina @Hershee39 outdid herself...now I can ask for vegan options when I go back to visit!“
“The food was delicious;the staff was outstanding General manager was outstanding;the waitress was outstanding and gave good serviceParking: Location is good parking is easy to get into and out of.Kid-friendliness: It has a kid menu for kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Handicap parking easy to get into and out of the restaurant.“
“Perfectly located in the Wasena area right along the Roanoke River and on the Greenway. Best place to start your walk or ride. End up at the green goat for a beer on the outside patio. Sausage and cheese plate is always good with a beer after a long walk. Food is always good. From this point on the green way you can walk to black dog salvage and look around or head the other way and end up at the hospital. My favorite place to walk on the greenway.“
“Good food, good service from a long-standing local business. Never have had to complain about anything the few times I've been there. Soft drinks are served by the can. Need to update bar area, would be a nice quiet drinking hangout for beers or wine. Clean up back part of restaurant and not use it as storage. Better outdoor lighting, more social media updates, and longer hours May attract more people to eat there. A lot of people I know thought it was closed because of the dimness, outdated appearance.“
“Everything was absolutely amazing! The deviled eggs are a must, Cajun salmon rasta pasta cooked to perfection, and don't skip dessert! Words can't describe the mouth watering blueberry & lemon cheesecake. I'll be back for $2 tacos on Tuesday. We look forward to checking out the late night scene as well. John Michael always creates a winning atmosphere with the best team. A+ y'all!Parking: Several parking lots available and certain nights they are free as well as a parking garage a block down the street“
“Great place for karaoke, people are Uber friendly regardless of who you meet. Drinks are decent, service is on point. Food was good for bar food. If you come to play pool bring cash :)Parking: Needs more space but good for what it is :)Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp to get in.“
“You will find no better cake in Roanoke than Evie’s coconut cake. We get it for all of our special occasions and have even frozen quarters of the nine inch to eat months later, tasting just as good as the day we bought it. We are moving soon and will be so sad to leave this cake!“
“I love this place! I love the bartenders and their fun demeanor even on busy nights. The food is always tasty and fresh, a great mix of perfect deli and bar food just like you want on a night out! Also, my husband and I LOVE when they host karaoke nights! The DJ has an astounding selection of songs and is always amiable and will even duet if asked- he’s a great singer too!! We’ve had a great time here and you will too“
“This restaurant is fantastic. The food is delicious, perfectly cooked and with unexpectedly fantastic presentation. Much better than I expect from a diner. The staff are helpful and friendly, and seem to enjoy being here. Very clean too. Atmosphere was friendly and neighborly. There are cute little signs here and there that give character without being kitschy. The dessert case looks amazing too, but unfortunately I was too full on my visit to try any of the pastries!“
“The Cuban Pork Sandwich is good in its own right but doesn't taste like a classic or traditional Cuban Pork Sandwich . This sandwich is more of this restaurant's take on a classic. The wings were good but the jerk rub lacked salt (which is surprising since most rubs usually have the opposite problem lol) and I didn't get the celery and carrots I paid extra for. 3.5 experience out of 5“
“Absolute RAVE!! Our waitress was amazing, the owner is so sweet. The food and drinks are out of this world. Would recommend this spot to everyone, it makes for the perfect date night. Our order: Short Rib w/greens and fingerling potatoes, Dirty Rice & Black Beans w/chicken, and 2 Raspberry White chocolate cheese cake slices.“
“Comfort food at very reasonable prices. Salad bar is large. Steaks are fine; nothing to write home about however they are not expensive and come out very quickly. We ate at about 5 pm on a Monday and we were in and out in way less than an hour. So if you are looking for quick fairly tasty eats and good friendly service this is a good spot. (My cocktail was $3.50; in 2024 that is unheard of!)“
“My wife got a bowl of pinto beans with cornbread, and I got a bowl of chili with cornbread. After the food was delivered and we each tasted both, she wanted to trade with me. We each enjoyed the chili/soup, but we really, really liked the cornbread. We ordered extra cornbread. Delicious. Priced right, too. I could eat lunch here often if I lived near here.Parking: There's both a front and a side entrance. The front entrance is to the restaurant. The side entrance is to the bar (I'm told).Kid-friendliness: Go in the front door if you have kids. There's a kid's menu, too.“
