“Since this is the very first time I've eaten at this establishment it was a non bias experience, rating on previous encounter with Head Chef(manager)and outside the venue. Head Chef(name unknown) went beyond the call of concern by ensuring that while I sat outside of this establishment that my needs were met and I wasn't in any distress. Mind you the area is highly trafficked and foot movement and behaviors that can be viewed as abnormal present on a daily basis. Since my sister n law recommended this Eatery a month later I said ok let's give it a try. I'm a foodie with the highest expectation in presentation, taste and authenticity. Well since I always check out the cooking areas, a habit from the class of 98(DCCKCJT) The area was lined with front line chefs that appeared well groomed, smiling, and quick led by Head Chef, who appeared of an Asian decent. I ordered the Salmon mix with chicken. The taste was good. The portion was an ample amount allowing to share if need be. Of course I had some to take out. The diet Pepsi available is a plus. The restaurant is clean and the bathroom faculties are clean and non odorous.Seating is ample and the experience was worthwhile along with being adjacent to my former Winn Buffet favorite which is now Umai something the location can be tricky for Lyft drivers to find. Since Giants is located on the GPS to the next door Chipotle. Parking can also be tricky so use caution. Exiting the establishment you will need a good meal along with good cheer. Enjoy the experience.”

“I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.”

“Amazing! The sushi tasting menu was exceptional and filling! Delicious and whimsical cocktails. Bar in the back, very hip and chic workout being pretentious. Wagyu beef skewers from the bar was one of the best things I’ve ever had. All the skewers were amazing and the fried chicken and other bar snacks are classic bar foods, but way elevated- can not wait for the rest of the space to open!”

“We had a lot of fun with the tasting menu. It was multiple course including appetizers and amuse bouche. Pictured below was the first plate of apps/amuse bouche. The turnip cake and pillowy bread was the star here. The little pastries with pate inside were so oversalted to the point they were inedible. I felt this was borderline true of a few of the dishes and the kitchen maybe should have been tasting as they cooked to prevent over-salting. Overall, I thought the food was creative and delicious. It was also artfully presented. Our server Mike was very attentive and helpful, so 5 stars for service. I give a four star overall because the food I think has room for improvement in execution and menu planning. For example; the palate cleanser was a granita and the dessert was a sorbet/ice cream. There could have been more contrast there between the courses. I had one drink I loved (their take on a Manhattan) and one I didn’t (the fish sauce in the passion fruit cocktail didn’t pair well for my personal taste). Overall I would recommend dining here!”

“I enjoyed the green zone, it had me flying high. Flying high when I tried their coffee drink. There was so much in it I don’t even know what to call it, but look at the picture, it looks delicious. I payed a pretty penny for it too, but pennies I got. This place cost a lot of green so bring your wallet, credit card too. Have fun, it’s good (at least their coffee drink is).”

“I was very impressed by the service. I tried the green beans based on other reviews and it did not disappoint. The Orange rabbit was not bad but did not have much flavor in my opinion. Much less than I expected. Our server recommended the Daikon Fritters and those were very good and very filling as well. Overall I would come here again. definitely a nice intimate spot for a date.”

“This place was probably one of my favorite dining experiences in DC. One of the reviews I read mentioned you’ll probably end up ordering 40-50% of the menu, and they were definitely right. For two people, we ordered 1 snack, 2 appetizers, 1 item from the “with bread” section, and 1 large share. We also got the rum cake (which was so good!) for dessert and we each had a drink. We left very full and with some leftovers from the large share.

All that aside, this place absolutely lived up to the hype! Each food item was packed with flavor and had beautiful presentation. The servers were kind and quick to help. Food comes out quickly which was nice! The music was on the louder side, but the playlist was great. We could still hear each other.

One thing to note is the menu changes slightly, so what you see in other reviews will more or less be what is available (with slight changes). For instance, we saw reviews about the chargrilled oysters but when we saw the menu it was (raw) oysters escovitch.

This place is definitely on my list to go back to!”
