“Can’t stress enough how amazing the view is at The Deadrise! I love coming here just to sip a Painkiller and watch the sunset; it’s easily my favorite view in the area. I recently tried the seafood boil and the calamari. The calamari was top-notch—definitely recommend that as an appetizer. The seafood boil was a huge portion, though it came with a lot of butter, so if you go, you might want to ask for that on the side! It’s a bit of an investment for dinner, but given the location and the quality, it’s a great spot for a nice evening out. Can't wait to return!“

With a large group one would expect that service would be slow, but Leslie D was super! So great that I HAD to speak to the manager to tell him how awesome she was! Ask for her when you come, and you will not be disappointed! We were all very much satisfied! I enjoyed the roasted oysters (four orders for the table) and the Fish and Chips. The Old Fashioned(s) were awesome, as were the Key Lime Crushes and the Lemon Drop Martinis. We celebrated my wife's birthday with all the family. We even had a visit at the table from a young man we had not seen since we lived in Bena over 39 years ago! Great place. We have been here several times preciously and will return. “I love this place! What a Gem of a restaurant in Newport News! I went with my family. We had a time crunch to get to a play, and Katie our server was great! She was Professional, accommodating, and served us great food in a timely manner so that we could make it to the theater in time. The Food was excellent! The chefs did a great job! I had the seafood pasta. A dish that is creamy, fresh, and delicious. All the other food was also very good. We are definitely coming back to take it all in when my family and I are not rushing to another engagement. I definitely recommend going to this place.“

“The best customer service I have ever had from a Chinese restaurant. I ordered the sesame chicken combo and the general tso chef special. The rice tasted as if it had been cooked a couple of hours before I arrived but it was still edible. The saving grace for the food was the meat. The meat for both the combos were tasteful and pleasing to my buds. Enough for me to say, I will be trying this place again and hopefully the rice will be different this time.“

“I mainly come out here for live music and the weekly open mics. I don’t drink so I have no need to sit at the bar. However, I will say that the server with the black hair is one of the most unpleasant individuals I’ve ever encountered. She’s always working on Thursdays (open mic nights). You would think that I rejected her back in high school or something. I try to get along with everyone but sometimes some people really just suck. Other than that, I love the place.“
