“I was craving some authentic Bangladeshi-style Chinese and Japanese flavors, and I had already tried so many places—but nothing really satisfied my taste buds. Then I visited Flame Japanese Hibachi, and in one word: AWESOME! 😍
I absolutely loved the food! It brought back that familiar, comforting taste I’ve loved since my childhood. ❤ The flavors were exactly what I had been craving.
The only thing that bothered me was that they don’t have a restroom. Other than that, everything was 10/10! ⭐

“What an absolutely wonderful experience! Tonight, I arrived to pick up my Cafe Rio dinner, only to discover I’d accidentally placed my order at the Burke location instead!

Enter Catherine (sp?), who was nothing short of extraordinary! She graciously provided my entire meal at no charge, turning my silly mistake into one of the loveliest customer service experiences I’ve had in ages.

“I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.”

We had an incredible dining experience here and sat at the chef's counter, which provided a fantastic view of the kitchen performing their craft. The entire operation is organized, smooth, and highly impressive to watch.
The food and drinks were outstanding:
• Duck Drunken Noodles: Perfectly spiced! The heat provided a beautiful warmth that highlighted the flavors rather than just kicking your butt for the sake of being spicy.
• Ginger Dumplings: Absolutely delicious.
• Plum Boulevardier: A lovely, well-crafted cocktail.
• Lychee Martini: My friend ordered this and completely loved it.
The service really made the night. All of the servers were welcoming and knowledgeable, creating a wonderful dining atmosphere. We were especially blessed to be taken care of by Eli and Monica. They were wonderful hosts who were incredibly complimentary to both myself and my companion.
Even the smaller details were great—the restrooms are single units that provide plenty of privacy, featuring a sleek black decor that is exceptionally well-maintained.
This is a wonderful operation that we will definitely be returning to. Highly recommended!”

“Amazing! The sushi tasting menu was exceptional and filling! Delicious and whimsical cocktails. Bar in the back, very hip and chic workout being pretentious. Wagyu beef skewers from the bar was one of the best things I’ve ever had. All the skewers were amazing and the fried chicken and other bar snacks are classic bar foods, but way elevated- can not wait for the rest of the space to open!”

I payed a pretty penny for it too, but pennies I got. This place cost a lot of green so bring your wallet, credit card too. Have fun, it’s good (at least their coffee drink is).”

“Amazing dishes. Chive cakes, marigold, Laos wine, the butterfly and hummingbird were delicious. The presentation on the pla tong ma was almost as good as the flavor. Aim helped us choose our dishes and provided excellent service.”

“My sister and I were lucky enough to snag a table to this place and I was blown away! We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing and the entire experience was immaculate !! The sommelier was knowledgeable, helpful and generous. The food was divine! I will say, I don’t eat lamb, goat or octopus/calamari and their menu can be lamb heavy. I still give this place a 5/5 because they made adjustments to the courses that were made with lamb. My only feedback is that the adjustment meant fish after fish option and I would’ve loved beef as a substitution to the lamb. Aside from that, this experience was worth the high price point. The staff were attentive, friendly, and generous with their service. Palestinian food is delicious!!”

“Came for the happy hour and it did not disappoint. The first 12 in line get to sit for the happy hour. The line hit 12 by 4:35ish this past Friday.

It was all delicious but favorites were the habanero scallop, fatty tuna & scallion, and king salmon.”

“You will not get better service anywhere in DC. On a Friday night, we were greeted and seated by the manager Manuel who was more than polite; he was genuinely interested in our experience. I ask….a lot of questions lol, and our server Carlos was super knowledgeable and super patient and kind, and even went out on a limb to share his personal preferences which not all servers will do. It was clear from the amuse bouche(delivered to us by Manuel himself) to the care with which our table was cleaned between courses to our surprise dulce de leche at the end that they truly place a premium on their customers’ experience. The chorizo dumplings were complex and light and delicious, and their cocktails are well-crafted and made with care. We sat at the downstairs bar, it was vibey and private, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend!”

“Finding a Filipino restaurant isn’t easy. So learning about Purple Patch thru Jo Koy—has ended this search! Literally, Filipino cuisine heaven! The restaurant is uniquely decorated, the staff were friendly, & the food hit that major comfort button for us! Thank you Zahara for being so sweet & a wonderful waitress. We can’t wait to come back for more!”

“This place was probably one of my favorite dining experiences in DC. One of the reviews I read mentioned you’ll probably end up ordering 40-50% of the menu, and they were definitely right. For two people, we ordered 1 snack, 2 appetizers, 1 item from the “with bread” section, and 1 large share. We also got the rum cake (which was so good!) for dessert and we each had a drink. We left very full and with some leftovers from the large share.

All that aside, this place absolutely lived up to the hype! Each food item was packed with flavor and had beautiful presentation. The servers were kind and quick to help. Food comes out quickly which was nice! The music was on the louder side, but the playlist was great. We could still hear each other.

One thing to note is the menu changes slightly, so what you see in other reviews will more or less be what is available (with slight changes). For instance, we saw reviews about the chargrilled oysters but when we saw the menu it was (raw) oysters escovitch.

This place is definitely on my list to go back to!”

“First I would like to say that I wish there were more than 5 stars. My son and I are visiting the DC area for the Cherry Blossom festivities. My son has a love for Indian food ever since his trip to India. I have never tried Indian food ever. So this was my very first experience. From the moment we walked in the door our amazing experience began. The atmosphere is beautiful and so is the staff. Our server, April was super helpful and very knowledgeable. She has an amazing spirit and is wonderful with her job! The food... was very fresh, aromatic and DELICIOUS!! My son said the food was the closest to the food in India that he has had here in the states. For my first time... OMG!!! I am HOOKED! The only bad part is that I have to go back to Florida and wait impatiently for my next visit.”
