“I've been going to the Silver Diner in Reston for over 15 years. Food is always good, new items added to menu seasonally, staff are real folks who are easy to talk with and joke with as well. “Consistently delicious! Normally, I just go for the cookies, cronuts, and petit fours. This time we tried all things savory. We were invited to a German Christmas Market Themed party — very specific I know… Since it was a potluck, we decided to make currywurst. Heidelberg’s brats for the recipe were so good. We also grabbed their huge soft pretzel (yum) and their curry spread (double yum). Whether you go sweet or savory, you can’t go wrong. Love this bakery!“

“It’s been a while since I’ve been to PF Chang’s, so on Sunday, a friend and I went there for lunch. From the moment we walked in, until the very end, our service was flawless! Our server Ty was amazing, providing us excellent service, anticipating our needs before we even said anything, his cheerful demeanor brightening up our day. Our food came out in record time and was absolutely perfect. The best part, and the reason behind PF Chang’s elevated level of service, is their Manager. He leads by example, going around to tables, checking to see how everyone is enjoying their meal. This of course provided us with the perfect opportunity to gush about Ty’s performance, professionalism and courteous conduct. This manager, through his leadership, has taken PF Chang’s level of service to what you see in five star restaurants. Keep up the great work, it is truly impressive and make sure the manager is well compensated, because he sets the tone. Also, give Ty a raise, he deserves it!“

“Thelo Greek Kuzina is one of those special places that treats you like family the moment you walk inside. There are no pretenses. You are there to enjoy the warmth of the atmosphere and amazing food that bursts with freshness. I do not know why it took us this long to try it for the first time, but so thankful we did! Once I made a reservation on open table in front of the hostess, we got a booth. Service and food was excellent after that.“

I first fell in love with the Georgetown location of Bakeshop for its variety of vegan and gluten-free items, and the Clarendon spot is no different. They offer a ton of standard, vegan, or gluten-free cookies, cupcakes, and cakes; each one is as delicious as the next.

However, if you're in the mood for something savory (and distinctly non-vegan), their breakfast sandwiches are also delightful. I passed the Clarendon Bakeshop location on my way to the metro station on a Friday morning and decided to stop to treat myself to a nice, warm breakfast. I got their everything croissant -- which is perfectly flaky and comes studded with plenty of everything bagel seasoning -- and added a scrambled egg and slice of cheese. The egg was perfectly soft and fluffy, and the melted cheese helped to bind the whole thing together. You usually have to wait for a few minutes for the breakfast sandwiches, but the space is nice and cozy, and it's a good opportunity to peruse their pastry selections.“

“I've been visiting Fairfax Bakery regularly since discovering it a year ago, and it never disappoints. Their Turkish breakfast is a delightful experience, offering a variety of small portions on a partitioned plate that keep you alternating between savory and sweet flavors. The spread includes two kinds of cheese, two types of olives, apricot jam, honey, spreadable cheese, fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, their special Simit bread, and perfectly cooked eggs with Sujuk (available for an extra charge). The Turkish coffee is also expertly prepared and adds the perfect finishing touch to the meal.“

“Polish Food at Home on Weds: Simply fabulous! We did this last night for 6 and Wow, and the chef knocked it out of the park!

First, the meals are packaged very well in the containers. Wonderful presence in how the food was arranged. Stayed nice and hot.

Sausage: the presentation was so impressive (the decorative cuts were SO impressive). The kielbasa was SO mouthwatering (very different than sausage at the store).

Bigos (cabbage mixture) was incredibly tender and all melded together.

Butternut squash soup was the best we have tasted. Loved the extra cubes of roasted squash. Didn't seem like it had cream, either, which was appreciated.

Dill slaw: delightfully fresh dill made the flavor "pop." Loved that it wasn't full of mayo.

pierogis: delicious

Grasshopper pie: Oh my! The pie was the most divine dessert ever. Incredibly good texture in the filling and the choc/mint topping was a nice touch. Fabulous job on the chocolate crust, Chef!

All 6 of us (different generations) agreed that the meal was really outstanding! Thanks so much for offering it.“
