“Some of the best Ethiopian food that I have had, and I am a Chef and have frequented many Ethiopian restaurants in DC as well.
I ordered the veggie combo and each dish was layered with the perfect amount of spice, heat and salt. The injera was light and fluffy with the familiar tang of a good fermentation. I also ordered a glass of Tej (honey wine) expecting a store bought bottle but was pleasantly surprised with a house made 6 month old wine that was slightly effervescent with a balanced sweetness that went perfectly with the food.
I told the server how great the food was and the Chef personally came out to thank me and talk to me about how she prepares the food and even answered questions I had about how to prepare there Shiro wot(which was excellent) and where to buy the spices for it. Both the Chef and the server were kind and treated me so warmly I felt like family.
If you are in the mood for authentic Ethiopian food, please give this place a try, I promise that you will be pleasantly surprised!“

Truly impressive across the board - friendly, welcoming and FUN. Pete, Kelly and their team are true professionals; they love their work and make sure everyone feels welcome. Pete personally goes from table to table - when he's not joining the band/playing guitar! Kelly is wonderful, kind, warm, and consistently books the BEST bands around. Bartender Bo is indeed "super cool" and funny. Servers Mario and Andrea are helpful, attentive, efficient, and keep everyone very well-fed. Chef Pete (different one) regularly impresses with tasty appetizers, entrees, salads (Greek is a fave), desserts, and more. More than worth a visit - keep going back! “I’m going to post the same review I gave on Yelp - this is a 5 Star place! After a day in DC, my family decided to try Soul Thai on our way home. What a terrific Experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was some of the best Thai we have ever had. The Pad Thai was amazing. The Hang Over Noodles (Drunken Noodles) was exceptional. And the red curry was by far the best I’ve had in the area. The ambiance was quite pleasant as well. Initially we were sat in an area that was a little noisy for our taste, but they graciously moved us to a much quieter section. The owner, Nancy came over after our meal and was very appreciative of our comments on the meal. She shared with us that she personally picks the freshest ingredients she can find to ensure the quality of the food. I would highly recommend Soul Thai to everyone. We will be coming back soon. “For many years I’ve gone to Cowboy Cafe for dinner….nachos, burgers, tater tots, etc. everything on the menu is so good, every single time. However, for the first time I went there for breakfast. It was so good I had to review it. The pancake, the fruit plate, the chicken bacon hash!!! My gosh, everything was so delicious and wonderfully plated. I’m still happy from that meal. So, two weeks back to back, understaffed— our server (both times and the only one) was deer in headlights. Nothing came on time, things not delivered, curdled milk without any solution. No hostess for seating (twice). Staff seemed incapable of delivering things on time or on request. Tough call because the food is very good and we always have a nice time, but if you are looking for things to be delivered right and/or on time, don't go elsewhere, just know that is what you're getting.“

The atmosphere is super lively and has a really cool, welcoming vibe the second you walk through the door. We started with some appetizers and drinks, and the bartender definitely knew what they were doing—the cocktails were mixed to perfection. For dinner, I ordered the burger and it was cooked just right, juicy and packed with flavor. Our server was attentive and friendly the entire evening, making sure our glasses were never empty even though the place was pretty packed. It can get a little loud inside when it's busy, but honestly, it just adds to the energetic social scene. Overall, it is a great spot for weekend hangouts, and I am definitely looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu.“

“Decided to try this late-night place after a long day at work. Since I was dining by myself, I was seated at the bar on the first floor--which I don't mind as it provided me a nice view of the yakitori station. I visited on a Friday evening so it was a little busy, but since I was on the first floor the atmosphere was calmer compared to the second floor. Jack was the only server on the first floor but he was prompt with my orders as well as the other customers on the floor. I ordered the grilled large intestines/daechang with a side order of kimchi as well as a light lychee martini. I've had daechang before, but I gotta say the daechang over here just tops it. They're marinated in this addicting sauce and the intestines were grilled perfectly. That chewiness and greasiness I normally get from eating just one piece of daechang from anywhere else, I surprisingly did not get after eating a few pieces here. I definitely would go again and try out their other menu items, especially their yakitori!“

They made the entire planning process easy and stress-free, with clear, quick, and efficient communication every step of the way. They were incredibly accommodating. The food was great, my favorites were the funnel cake fries and the guacamole. The Cider was delicious!!! The venue itself is fantastic for hosting events, and I highly recommend ShipGarten for birthdays, gatherings, or any special occasion. One of the things I love most is that they also host dog-friendly events, which makes the place even more special! I had an amazing time and will absolutely be using ShipGarten for future events!!!“
