“Ds Cafe is more than a restaurant; it's a culinary haven where the rich fusion of local Indian and Nepali flavors, especially the exquisite Chicken Tikka Masala and delightful momos, feels like a taste of home. Heartfelt thanks to Mama Sherpa for making every visit unforgettable.”
“I forgot about this little hidden Jem I went here yesterday ago with my mother in law and I have not been able to find another BBQ chicken pizza worth ordering.......this one is...”
“Was in the area with my dog and stopped by but no longer dog friendly inside (unless a service dog).Disappointing for us folks with very well behaved doggies. I'm sure someone ruined it with a misbehaved dog. Not the dogs fault. Unfortunate for the rest of us though.I had been here one other time. Fish tacos were fine, but nothing to write home about. However, recall the beer being very good ?”
“My family’s loved all of the offerings for ages, beyond excellent bread. Favorites are -olive -raisin -garlic -white loaf -english muffins. Freezes well too. ♥️?”
“Very few people realize the importance of an actively engaged front end to the customer experience unless service is abysmal. O'Maddi's is such a welcoming experience. After puzzling through literally a wall of really enticing choices, actually ordering seems affirming. Everyone is made to feel like O'Maddi's values their business and wants their party to have the best experience possible. The actual food? Both of our sandwiches were well conceived and well made. They were delicious at a price that seemed to us to be extremely reasonable. We were there during Northfield Youth Art month with the artwork of fifth graders gracing the wall. It's THAT kind of place..... which is intended to be a compliment.”
“A quaint little hole in the wall, small town breakfast joint. Great service, great pancakes! No real maple syrup, and the fake syrup they serve is really, really bad. Don't use it. Use jam or bring your own.”
“Came through with a group of 19 on a Friday night. With one day's notice they had three sandwich makers on staff and ran our group through in about 15 minutes. Great service! Would definitely take a group here again.”
“Wilaiwans is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at! The food is consistently amazing - rich, complex flavors, fresh healthy ingredients, somehow combining a heartiness with a lightness in one close to perfect culinary package. It’s worth a trip to Montpelier for lunch on a weekday to try a dish here. It is pretty spicy but never so much (for my taste) that the spice overwhelms the flavors. Just the right amount of spice in my book but for those who shy away from spicy food, this is probably not the place for you.”
“The best kind of farm store - very close to town, tons of nice local gifts for sale, a nice area to sit and relax out back, and a delicious, perfectly textured, boldly flavored maple creemee! The staff were so nice to let me order off menu - the tiny cone was plenty of ice cream, and I was able to top it with cookie pieces instead of sprinkles to get extra flavor and a crunch texture!”
“Penzo is a small pizza restaurant in the Inn at Montpelier. The dining area is in the front end of the Inn and has a nice cozy feel. We have been three times since moving to the area a month ago. Obviously we love it since we have been so many times already! We have had salads, pizzas, and the mushrooms appetizer. All have been great. Can't wait to try the spaghetti and meatballs!”
“The Wayside is consistently good! I had their fried whole belly clams, which aren't easy to come by near us, and they were excellent. The rolls and desserts are homemade and we enjoyed them very much!”
“While caught in the worst rainstorm of our lives, our children lost all their ice creams. The staff was kind enough to remake all of our ice creams and made the kids so happy. Thank you all for your kindness.”
“We stopped by off recommendation. All of their treats were made that morning which was obvious based on how fresh everything looked. I requested they cut up some treats into smaller portions to hand out. They boxed everything up for me including a cake for my son. He was very impressed by how delicious it was. I will absolutely be returning.”
“We all agreed tonight that that we had a truly “world class” dining experience in central Vermont. The food was flavorful, exquisite and creatively prepared. The service the entire evening was impeccable. We loved our dining experience and we’ll be back!”
“Great food and great people! I wish the seating situation was a little less awkward, but we have learned to treat this place as our go too joint for on the run meals. We call in sandwiches from here anytime we are passing through Montpellier.”
“After working here- I wouldn't recommend. First of all, employees don't recieve the credit card tips after being promised tips. Second of all, nothing is made in house except for the guacamole and pico. Not authentic mexican food of any sort. Canned enchilada sauce. Stuffed Polblano peppers come in a plastic bag. The owners have their own sauce they ask for on enchiladas. It tastes much better than what they serve the public. The owners Lu and David are dirty and steal tips from their employees who are Lu's own "people". Not to mention the place is far from up to health code!”
“Love Bent Nail, music is always fun . I've never eaten there so I can't speak to the food. Last night the bar tender clearly wasnt paying any attention to who was waiting for drinks and when they arrived. It took her over 15 minutes to finally acknowledge me. Disappointed as usually thos hasn't been my experience.”
“We got takeout, but even after the 45 minute drive back our AirBnb--it was delicious. The food comes in huge portions per order and is priced reasonably for what you receive. We got two large orders of rice (that came with our food), butter chicken, mango lamb curry, coconut lamb curry, and a goat dish. The goat dish had a lot of bones which other reviews also state, but it was no issue for us. We also got two sides of vegetable samosas (one order = two samosas) and they were quite big. They were also very spicy! The spice level can be adjusted based on personal preference and we were all happy with our dishes. This was plenty of food for our group of 4 and we had leftovers.”
“Everything here is local, fresh, and made from scratch. Red and baking embodies the true vermont feels. When you walk in you are greeted with the fresh baked bread smell. The dining chairs are everything you would expect of a New England charm breakfast joint. You can tell how proud the owner is by all the chalk on the walls. The staff were super friendly and helpful. It felt like everyone wanted to be there and was proud to be there. Unfortunately, I had to take my breakfast to go but I feel like I could hang out here for a while. In fact there were a couple people playing games at the tables.Food: I had the coffee made with honey, which is supposed to be a local favorite. Now I am very particular about my coffee and I was quite impressed. This was a unique flavor and i'm more than happy to have it again. The breakfast sandwich was made with their own bread. I would have chosen a different type of bread for an egg and cheese sandwich but You can taste the home made difference. The sandwich otherwise lacked flavor. Perhaps if I had ordered it with meat It would have been better. It may have needed a little more salt Or some type of sauce To really bring everything out.At the end of the day, if I ever drive through this area again. I will make sure to stop here.”
“Very very few vegetarian options. If you ask, you'll be told the tofu soups are vegetarian, but if you ask specifically about the broths, they are chicken or beef. "If you don't eat meat, these are okay, but if you're vegan, only this one." One of the coconut curry dishes is "real vegan", so hopefully you like that one thing. I'm not a fan of hot, salty coconut milk or uncooked tofu, unfortunately. In my experience, 2/3 Pho places have vegetarian broths and good veggie options, some don't. This one doesn't.Also, their boba options are basically tea or mango juice with tapioca balls added in. Not terrible, but not what we were hoping for/expecting.I'm told the beef pho was pretty good, and Sam seems like a kind man. Overall, the place seems popular, just not for me.Vegetarian options: One dish is "true vegan", the other "meatless" dishes are made with chicken or beef broth with tofu added. Nothing is labeled as vegetarian or not, you have to ask, and the answers are not very helpful or accurate.”
“I was there at a particularly busy time (the day of the solar eclipse), so there was a long wait for both seats and food, but it was definitely worth it. The rare beef pho was delicious, as were the spicy beef and pork noodles. The bubble tea and Thai tea were also very good, and the few servers were very friendly. The ambiance was comfortable, and the overall experience was amazing.”
“Always a great hometown family feel type experience. The delicious smell of baked goods fills the street. I love the flavor of their breads, my personal favorite is The Manghi’s!Kid-friendliness: Kids can pop in and purchaseIndividual rolls after school.”
“First timer’s! Stopped by for lunch today… Burger n Alagash White! Wife had a Lamb Butger n fries. Excellent right down to the fries!! Patty the bartender is Awesome!!! Definitely be back!’”
“Decided to stroll down the block and look for breakfast. Have done it many times and didn't find any. Saw the sign they were recently open. Was great. They even make the bread they serve in house. It's a must try when in Montpelier ”
“Best coffee shop in Vermont. The staff is amazing and so helpful. We happily patronize Capitol Grounds weekly because of the quality coffee, chai tea lattes, and breakfast sandwiches.”
“The corn mix, Mexican rice, and beans were yummy and reminded me or Tex Mex food! Sadly, the tamales were too salty and I could not finish them. The best dish was the empanadas--they were not too doughy and I loved the filling. Heck, I wish the empanada was overfilled!”
“Beer drinkers heaven. A real variety of beers with many, many options. Also a lovely glass of marquet wine from a local vineyard. Super nice people. Check it out.”

“Was craving an espresso tonic and asked the barista if they could make one even though it wasn't on the menu. They went out of their way to get all of the necessary ingredients from the brewery next door, and what I thought might be a hacked-together-but-satisfactory espresso tonic was perfectly made and delicious. Very kind and generous barista, very good coffee, very nice experience.”
