“I’ve been wanting to try SKAI Sushi for a while, and today was finally the day, and wow, it did not disappoint. I didn’t realize they were closing just 7 minutes before I ordered, yet they were incredibly kind and gracious enough to turn the grill and fryer back on. That alone says so much about their customer service. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Roll, Golden Cali Roll, and Chicken Teriyaki. The sushi was absolutely amazing, and the teriyaki was not only delicious but came in a portion size big enough for three meals! Between the outstanding food, exceptional service, and very fair pricing, SKAI Sushi has definitely earned a loyal customer. Bonus points for being high quality without breaking the bank. Highly recommend!“

The miso blow my mind. The spring rolls seams handmade and were very tasty. The teriyaki beef plate was extremely tasty. Now the sushi was very tasty but wasn't that delicious. It was a little frozen in the center and even if I can appreciate freshness it was more on the frozen zone.

I am so thankful that Sakuya is walkable in this neighbourhood. My sushi oasis by far and by foot. If I don't want Western culture food in this 'hood, I have little options without a car and 20 minutes.

A Korean owned Japanese restaurant means you're in good hands. Good price point and quality is what their honour demands. They recognize you and your regular order with a smile that's happily. Like a place where everybody knows your name but instead it's sushi for your family.

Both Vancouver's and Toronto's Japanese restaurants vary greatly in quality. I find there's a correlational relationship with target sales quantity.
A place where they serve sashimi (meaning the best part of the fish) means an elevated place. A place without sashimi, speaks volumes to anyone's face.

Here, they have sashimi and tasty specialty rolls ... as well as Chicken Teriyaki on a hot platter (all chicken teriyaki's should be served on a pre-heated platter by default but that's my hot take on that discussion). One cool bonus that keeps popping up in Korean-owned Japanese venues is the willingness to innovate on tradition.

“Love the sushi. The Toro and Salmon nigiri have the biggest cuts of fish I have seen other than the Tokyo Fish Market. The restaurant accidentally forgot to throw in one of my rolls on a takeout order, and they delivered it to my house in less than 10 mins… felt more like 5 mins.“

“This is our neighbourhood, go-to, Sushi restaurant. They have two quieter sections and the main dining area. The service is always good, food is fresh and nicely presented. Prices have been going up recently but we will always come here for Sushi, just not as often as we used to.“

I ask the server if it’s a Japanese recipe or Korean recipe, it tasted and smelled like kimchi. I like kimchi but I’m in a Japanese restaurant so I am expecting a Japanese cuisine. The sashimi salad doesn’t taste good at all it even has a bitter taste on it. When I mentioned it to the server she didn’t say anything, I felt ignored. In spite of that I will still eat there ( but will never try again their sashimi salad, not recommended needs to change their dressing) because I love their chicken teriyaki and their deluxe tempura. I also find them not that expensive.“

It can’t be compared to sushi from a dedicated restaurant made right before you ordered it, but here you can get 5 pieces of salmon nigiri, an entire cucumber roll, salmon/avocado roll and California roll all for $19. Obviously inspect the dates it was made and don’t buy it if it’s old - have only seen that once. Normally it’s all made recently and looks/tastes pretty good.“

“I've tried many sushi places and Sushi Wara is definitely the best I've tried so far! Their California rolls blow everyone else's out of the water and their chicken karaage is better than dedicated chicken restaurants!

“If you order the chicken karaage, be prepared for the clarity on life it will provide you. The second I took a bite of it, I instantly called all my relatives and invited them to my bar mitzvah next week.

The portions were great and price was affordable and for me great for the portion and taste they served. The place and seating looks a bit worn but it was neat although cold air was coming through the heating vents for quite some time when they switched on the heater that kept us cold for longer than expected.
