“Whenever I come to eat here, all of my bitterness and evil washes away. The food here heals, it's always perfect, it's always good. The staff are always polite and attentive. It has a nice/cozy atmosphere and it's just relaxing. Nothing can beat coming here when your having a hard day.The food is so so so good!Parking: It's located in the front and the back of the restaurant. Normally there is always a spot for you to park in. The people don't stay for very long since it is a popular spot that can get very busy.Kid-friendliness: Yes“
“I've been searching for a good seared salmon nigiri in the area but haven't had any luck. Most of the sushi places we visit don't even offer it on their menu. However, this spot has the perfect seared salmon nigiri. I'll definitely be returning here for more.“
“Best buffet I have been to yet! Food/sushi is fresh and tastes delicious. The service is great, and you feel welcome. A couple of women love interacting with my baby and remember us, which is warming. The building is clean and had a very lovely decor. 100% recommend for a buffet!“
“This is the best Chicken ? Teriyaki by far in the City of Tacoma ? This is a local family owned business. Very clean and excellent customer service skillset by the owners and their kid's that works at Hot ? Teriyaki on 72nd Street and Portland Ave E. You can call ? head and they will have it ready for you to take home if you like. They have a Sushi ? Sensei there also and it's amazing and clean as the board of health ??♂️?It's all about love in this world ? People. Go to Hot Teriyaki ?.Peace Farmer J“
“This place is excellent! We had two California rolls, gyoza, and spicy teriyaki. All super yummy.I loved that the spicy chicken teriyaki had the vegetables mixed in instead of the side. I love spicy food so take this with a grain of salt but I'm calling this heat slightly over mild, but not quite medium. It is a comfortable little kick ?️ I didn't think I would like the rolls since the rice looked thinner than I'm used to but the flavor was absolutely there! I also got the regular fried gyoza ? which was awesome (dipping sauce too), but there is also steamed on the menu if you rather. My order was pickup so I didn't interact with the staff much, but they were all super welcoming and friendly when I walked in.We will be back for sure!!“
“I was able to make a dinner reservation on the day of. I ordered some nigiri and rolls (one deep fried and one fresh salmon roll). Rolls were okay, but was not worth 20 dollars each. On the other hand, sashimi and nigiri were very fresh and delicious. I highly recommend amaebi and salmon nigiri. Parking was not difficult. I just parked by the Y and walked a block or two down.“
“Recommend, the chicken teriyaki is a go to for clean healthy food. (Chicken and rice.) Got the Gyoza and the Crab kampoon to try, very good the crab was extremely good. They also have punch cards, buy 9 plates and get one free. As well, they have Boba teas, lattes and sorts of variations of drink in the fridge.“
“I've been a customer here for more than 20 years, and I have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Their teriyaki sauce is sweet but not cloyingly so, and their katsu sauce is sharp and bright. Gyoza here are served fried, hot, and crispy. It's a small hole-in-the-wall place, but it is welcoming and inviting and is definitely worth the price.“
“It's a good place the prices are different online for sure I don't know why they haven't updated but big portion and fast they have sauces up front as well and you know that one of the best parts of a teriyaki place is to put more of the sauce on it. Anyways wish they added more spice or made it more spicy but overall it's good place good yaki“
“Cozy little teriyaki shop. Drive by here all the time, but never stopped by. Glad I did! Great teriyaki and gyoza. The fountain drink dispenser was out of carbonation, but they have a ton of bottled drinks available in the reach-in fridge right next to it.Parking: It’s a busy area, so parking can be a little tight. But when we arrived, we were able to find a spot.“
“Absolutely the best people with some amazing food and the atmosphere is awesome. This is a restaurant that actually cares about you. And they care about the food that they make. I would say this is the best teriyaki place I've ever been to.“
“We came here because of a good review. We felt like sushi and wanted to try a new place to us, It’s does not look like much from the outside. But it’s a hidden gem. Fresh fish. Extra large servings on the Bento box. It was authentic sushi. Great service. We plan to come back,“
“I have pad Thai and Thai fried rice and they both well seasoned. One thing that I love is drink packaging. I always have a hard time mixing Thai tea by just stirring with a straw so it is great to see that use a better quality plastics cup that well sealed and reusable so I can shake the cup without creating a mess.“
“It's a small place, pretty standard when you just walk in. Now, let me tell you why I thought it was great! I ordered teriyaki chicken breast with extra meat and no rice sub extra veggies, sauce on the side. My friend ordered the teriyaki chicken and katsu chicken combo. The food all came our right and pretty quickly. We ate there, and I was a little different to get all of our own supplies. The tables were clean and well maintained. They have a little bit nicer round chopstick and very small cups for water (4 oz). The house made hot sauce was amazing and my friend loved it as well. While we were there, it was pretty slow. We were the only table for a while. The family came out and ate together. I thought this was nice. We were self-sufficient, and I was nice to see a family eat together today when we are constantly being driven apart.I will be back for the great food and laid back chill vibes with a touch of family.“
“This place has really good teriyaki and it's actually at an affordable price most teriyaki places are outrageously priced this place it was $15 for me to get chicken teriyaki breasts and 2 egg roll and it was delicious teriyaki I think I've ever had. This place is a hidden gem go there you won't be disappointed.Parking: Right directly across the street from the Rite aid at 72nd and Pacific Ave“
“I take everyone here, My fam, my friends and dates. This place is exceptional Quality with not 1 singular bad dish, you have a wide variety of cooked options and drinks too for those that don't want to eat anything raw. This place is authentic.“
“My coworkers and I went to pick up lunch here one day when it was cold and rainy. While we were waiting the amazing lady brought us some hot soup and had us sit down to warm up. Reminded me of my grandma... love this place and I will definitely be back.“
“It used to be one of my favorite restaurants however the service has gone way downhill. They say that they're vegetarian friendly restaurant but they refuse to put rice in a separate plate so it doesn't touch the meat. If you are a vegetarian or you have family members who are they are not respectful of people's vegetarian needs.“
“This place is amazing! The food is great and at a good price. The lady behind the register, June, is a gem. The food is delicious and her customer service and friendly demeanor makes you want to keep coming back. She made us feel very welcome when we moved to Tacoma a few years back. I always recommend this place to people when they ask for good Chinese food.“
“There are not a lot of sushi restaurants in Tacoma, and of those I know of, they tend to think they're in Seattle and it's okay to charge $20 a roll, or competing with gas stations to make you nervous, this place is the exception. It's affordable, not pretentious, cute interior with pretty solid sushi, (I stick with the veggie options but my friends have all enjoyed the fish, so second hand account on the actual sushi)If you live in the area and want sushi, I definitely recommend it, for whatever that's worth :)P.S. I'm grading this a bit on a curve due to the other options I've had, but it's a review so definitely biased in some way or another.“
“First time eating here and it was excellent! Tasty chicken teriyaki, and yokisoba noodles. The eggrolls were probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Portions are huge. The woman working the front was extremely friendly and kind. The only downfall is I originally called to place an order, and there was a small language barrier, but other than that, experience was great.“
“Was helping my guy shop for a car today and when it was all said and done, we were starving so wanted somewhere close and Sapporo sushi came up on Google. Its a cute little restaurant, lots of decor on the walls and the servers are really sweet and prompt with service. I don't really remember the name of the rolls, I remember one was a volcano roll and one had spicey crab on top which was absolutely phenomenal and another had eel. We got a tasty miso and side salad as well Hamaki as a starter which were fried egg rolls that were very crispy and tasty. Overall a very pleasant dining experience and amazing food, ill definitely be returning. Everything pictured was $71 before tip so it's also reasonably priced. If I had to nitpick one thing; the eel was pretty thick sliced which was awesome, but I'm hugely textural with foods and eel skin is not something I find very enjoyable on the palate. I removed the pieces of eel and peeled the skin off to avoid the slimy texture that accompanies eel skin. Other than that, everything was great.“
“I have been coming almost every week for the past several months. The folks that run the place are friendly and the food is pretty good - I almost always get the chicken teriyaki and gyoza combo. If there's any sort of issue (which is rare to begin with), they'll make it right. They make it easy and enjoyable to want to come back every week.“
“An almost hidden gem in Spanaway. Tucked away in a small strip mall is the best teriyaki I've ever had. The place has a pleasant and quiet ambiance. The food is simply amazing. Parking is adequate and easily accessed of Pacific Avenue. Staff is always very nice and happy to serve you. Check it out. You'll be glad you did.“
“They have the most extensive sushi roll menu I've ever seen. There's something unusual about the batter on the deep fried rolls, I can't put my finger on it, but it's not like any other fried roll I've had. The prices are very reasonable.“
“this is my absolute favorite teriyaki place in a 15 mile radius. the owner is so sweet, the food is amazing, the prices are cheap (should be more considering how good they are)! i’ve never once had a bad plate of food here or a bad experience. worth every penny <3“
“This place is a gem! They put a lot of care into the preparation. The ambience is very intimate and relaxing with a nice low light. The tuna is the tastiest tuna! Very fast service, very clean. The parking lot is convenient.Parking: I think that the parking lot must have about 12 parking spots. The parking along the street is also very convenient and accessible and free. I don’t think most people would have trouble with parking in this location.“
“This place is a gem for Filipino food! I usually get the chicken adobo and it's SO good. The meat falls off the bone and you get a nice portion for UNDER $10 WITH rice. Rice isn't extra. They have various options for they lumpia as well! I can't have too much red meat so I usually get the ginger garlic and it's absolutely delicious. They're pretty nice with the sauce as well. if you really like it they have it bottled! The ONLY complaint I have is I wish I could get a little more sauce with the adobo but the rice just absorbs like all of it but that's just a preference really. You have to order online but check out is simple and easy! If you love Filipino food I highly recommend!“
“We Were Amazed!Hungry and a long drive ahead of us, hit up google and jumped off the freeway, found Happy Teriyaki but had our doubts due to the area. Our waitress quickly brought us drinks and took our order. She was so very nice.In no time, she returned with a feast fit for a king.Portion size was incredible and better yet, the flavors were incredible. With every bite, we would comment on how good the food was!We highly recommend Happy Teriyaki in Tacoma. If we lived near Tacoma, it would be our go-to dining spot!100% ?“
“I ordered the Mongolian Beef/teriyaki chicken combo 17.99 and a potato croquette 2.49. First of all, the amount of food you get is enough for two. It is basically a full order of each meat and 2 giant mounds of rice. Well worth the price. The potato croquette was sooo good. Creamy inside and crispy outside. The katsu sauce it came with was the best. Not all watered down either. The chicken was moist and cooked perfect. The teriyaki sauce was generous and very good. The beef was really good. I wish they had an option to make it spicy. Also wish they had a bit more veggies in the mix. NOT complaining, just my preference. This place is close to work, so will definitely be trying more from them for lunch in the future!“
“Great place to grab a bite that’s a great value. Prices are really good for the serving size. The spring rolls and chicken vermicelli salad are my absolute favorite! The dining area is small but comfortable but not suited for large parties. The food is always fresh and travels well. Our whole family can go there and everyone has something they love and meets their dietary needs.Vegetarian options: Tofu dishes or meatless optionsDietary restrictions: Gluten free and vegetarian options are available, they’re good about modifying if needed.Parking: In plaza with a grocery and auto supply store so it’s a communal parking lot with plenty of space.“
“Best sushi in Puyallup!! I don't do yelp reviews often but I enjoyed my dinner so much that I had to give a great review. We got the 911, Playboy, New York and Rainbow rolls and they were all phenomenal. Our favorite was the 911. We also got the 15 pc yellowtail, salmon and tuna sashimi & nigiri and it was fresh and very flavorful. It melted in our mouths. I haven't had sushi that good in quite awhile. Another thing I love about this place is the service. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The lady working was really sweet and gave my toddler a lollipop before we left and he was very happy. We will definitely be back!“
“I will say the quality of their sushi and sashimi are amazing. I had the Sushi & Sashimi Platter. It had 11 pieces total for 40$ which I will say is a little much. I have been to a few other places with similar quality fish and this is the first one where this type of platter was 40$. The food was delicious though and the staff while awkward were very kind. I didn't dine in but the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant while waiting though I do take off a star for no clear waiting area for pickups/takeout.“
“Ordered Chicken Teriyaki, Almond Chicken, and Shrimp Fried Rice. If you are looking for traditional Almond Chicken, this is not where you want to order from. It had veggies and a sauce more like teriyaki… so disappointed.? The chicken teriyaki was tender and cooked well. The shrimp fried rice was “fine”; nothing I would recommend. The total for this was just under $43 and no fortune cookies. Probably will not return…. Not bad just not what we were looking for.“
“Been going there for years. Went there on March 15th 2024found the owner sold it. The food wasn't the same. Ordered it to go and when I got home. Opened the food and it was all wrong. The food just wasn't the same. sadly don't think I'll be going back.“
“Found this restaurant when looking for someplace new to eat. I like that the restaurant was simple looking yet nice in its own way. The atmosphere was nice, but the service could have been better. There was only 3 tables that had people when we got there, and we were one of the 3. Our appetizers were barely warm, but luckily, my main course was hot.We got veggie tempura, steamed gyzoa, my girl got the rainbow Maki roll, and I got the shoyu ramen with extra meat. The ramen was a little too salty, but it was good. The rainbow roll was good as well.Overall, I still give this place a 4. We'd be willing to come back and try them again :)“
“We have never been disappointed with this restaurant, they always deliver excellent food, service, ambiance and cleanliness.Parking: It's a large strip mall area, so plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: I took two granddaughters and there was a several other kiddos having a grand timeWheelchair accessibility: Very easy to maneuver“
“Sauce changed back to better sauce. It was fairly slow when I was there..... with that being said, I had hot food in front of me in 10 mins flat. From the the time I came through the door, was seated, cold water delivered, and hot chicken and beef teriyaki shortly after......10 mins!! Outstanding!! (And I was starving, so I sure did appreciate it). Don't let me forget to mention it was delicious...“
“The food was absolutely delicious. We got off at this exit due to an accident and my family was hungry. We were worried when we saw no one in the parking lot but once we went in we were given great service and once we got our food we were shocked this place was empty. The food was so good.“
“Happy Bento is a fantastic spot. Always has great food with great prices, as well as an excellent selection of options to choose from. Their boba tea is also fantastic, would recommend getting some while you're there. Sometimes the staff forget your there, a little more often than one would like but barely detracts from the quality of the restaurant. If you haven't been, you definitely should.“
“The service here is great. Some idiot was blasting his phone inside the dining area, which I mentioned to the lady helping me and she asked him to turn it off. She was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was really good also (I got chicken fried rice), although it took much longer than comparable teriyaki places I've been to (it wasn't too busy).“
“My family & I have been ordering from here for years. Can never get enough of this delicious food. I just have one concern if I may..would it be possible soon or in the near future to consider earth friendly togo boxes? Doing this would not change my view or the way I feel about your lovely restaurant. Thank you. :)“
“I've visited this place 3rd time since new management.I'd say that food was very tasty and helper was kind. The meal I recommend I tried is spicy tofu and chicken teriyaki and chef special spicy noodle.Excellent. Thank you for the nice meal.“
“As soon as I entered the restaurant, the owner welcomed me with a bright smile. Her kindness had already impressed me, and I felt that the food she made was bound to be delicious. The house combo yakisoba was truly a work of art. The properly cooked vegetables, somen, shrimp, beef, and chicken proteins were so soft, and the seasoning was perfect. If someone were to ask me for a recommendation for a teriyaki restaurant, this would be the first place.“
“Such good food and tasty. Good portion sizes as well. They are always friendly and make sure you have everything.Parking: Depends on the time of day you go. There are other businesses in the complex, and if busy, parking is harder to find. It's free parking, though, and there are parking spots right in front of the restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: It's 1 story and no stairs, so it is easy to get in and out.“
“We had a reservation Saturday night for six people. We were not told that an automatic gratuity would be added, and I did not check out the website to see that. I have no problem with you adding gratuity. The problem I have is that you didn’t tell us. Yes, I know it’s on your website but not everyone reads everything on the website and I think it is proper for you to inform us. The chef we had was very good quite funny! Our server was wonderful, but a little busy and we had to ask for refills and rice for my husband. So overall a good experience, the food was delicious. The bathrooms could have use some attention but overall I’m not dissatisfied. I just think it is your place to let people know about an 18% automatic gratuity. Thank you so much.Parking: Parking was not very easy but no surprise on a Saturday night at peak dinner time“
“Pricey, but high quality sushi and Japanese small plate items in a fun, self-serve, conveyor belt setup. The variety is decent and you can make special requests. As they charge by the small plate, expect to spend more than you would for a standard sushi meal. The service is only average and the servers don't seem to know the ingredients of the sushi rolls, so asking questions can be difficult.“
“Oh my goodness one of the best teriyaki places I've been to in a while Top Notch service cleanliness super friendly staff and good size portions can't say enough great things about my experience and I am feeling fat and happy LOL. By far the best beef teriyaki I've had in quite some time as wellA+++++????“
“A real gem. I will definitely be back. Food wash fresh and really well prepared. I get nervous with places with a very large menu, that it will all be 'meh.' In a party of four, we had one brisket pho, one veggie pho, one tofu General Tso's and one teriyaki bento. We all loved what we got. Prices are very reasonable. Portions are LARGE. I got a 'regular' size pho and had plenty to take home. Service was great. Restaurant was bright, clean and well lit. Parking is very limited, but a small price to pay considering the overall experience.“
“The sushi was great. The atmosphere was hard to pin down. Nothing stood out. Waitress was slow. There were people but I was facing the wrong way to tell if she was the only waitress. I'm going to give her a pass. If you want good sushi, go to Trappers.“
