“We have loved this building for now four generations of our family coming here. The current proprietor makes delicious food and pours her heart and skills into every scratch recipe. Today, we were well taken care of as we celebrated my mom’s 75th birthday in their outdoor dining space. Everyone loved their food, enjoyed friendly & attentive service, and enjoyed many “memory lane” conversations about coming to The Bair (and Mom working part-time here back in the day). “Just went there for the first time and we were super impressed with how fast our food came out! I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was hands down the best breakfast burrito I have ever had, normally places have way too much eggs in them but not here! Perfect! Great coffee too. Our waitress was super kind and cool as well!

The food wasn’t anything to write home about, but it wasn’t bad either; it was better than a joint like that needed to be. They seemed to be training a new employee, and he did great getting everything right. He double checked our orders and asked about things we’d already said…but again…neighborly vibes / slow pace, no pressure.“

“my husband and I will go there about few times a year. this was my father in laws favorite place to eat every Wednesday with his brother for many yrs. Yesterday(July 21st) we ate there at approximately 7pm. very nice waiter we had. my husband ordered a Chicken Fried Steak breakfast. he indicated that that meat was very tough and rubbery. I tasted it and totally agreed with him. but that won't stop us from going there again. we did show up on July 16th(Sunday). had no idea you closed up so early(it was about 6pm)“

“Well, it’s Friday night in Tacoma, which is about the time the week lets go of your collar and you realize you’ve survived another five days of God's green earth. The sun is setting over the Sound; the parking lot is filling up with folks who’ve decided that cooking supper is an optional hobby for another day.

I was sitting there at a high-top table with three of my coworkers—good people, salt of the earth, the kind of folks who know how to work hard and aren’t afraid to talk about it over a beer. We had ourselves a perch where we could swivel our heads just enough to keep one eye on the NFL game and the other on the Seattle Mariners, hoping against hope that tonight’s the night things finally break our way.

Now, some folks from out of town might look at a chain restaurant and think it’s all mass-produced and predictable, like a box of saltines from the bottom of the pantry. But those folks haven’t met Kamie.

Kamie was our waitress, and let me tell you, she is the sort of person who could walk into a church basement during an argument over the annual bazaar and leave everyone feeling like they’d just won a blue ribbon for their winter squash. She has that cheerful, unflappable grace you only find in people who possess bottomless patience and have spent a good long while dealing with the public. She carried our orders with the easy poise of a choir director stepping up to the piano, and she didn't bat an eye when four of us showed up looking for a good meal and a beverage after a long week on the docks.

I ordered the riblet meal—tender little morsels of pork bathed in sweet and spicey barbecue sauce that’s sweet with just enough heat to remind you you’re alive—alongside a cold, frosty draft of beer that had beads of condensation running down the glass like a cold morning on open water. The food was good, solid, honest nourishment that didn't put on airs.

But the service? Well, the service was, as they say, WOW! Kamie brought the plates out with a smile that could melt the frost off a windshield, kept our glasses from going empty while we hashed out the events of the work week, and made you feel like you were the only table in the whole place, even though the room was humming right along with the weekend crowd.

It was a fine Friday night in Tacoma, good company, good food, and a reminder that grace can show up just about anywhere—even under the amber glow of an Applebee's neon sign. Five stars, without a doubt.“

“Been here around 5 times now. Their food is generously portioned and absolutely delicious every single time. Not once has been a miss. Probably some of the best fish and chips around, too. Last time I was here I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was fantastic. The service is also great, polite, and fast. I don't think it's ever taken more than 15 minutes to get my food. Their prices are, imo, better than a lot of places. Especially since their portions are enough it's easy to take half of it home. Love it.“

Friends and I stopped by for desert, and both the Lava Cake and Pineapple Upside-down were life altering delights of immense taste bud, interconnected neurological pleasure.Food is food, some is great, others not so much. “I didn't have any of the cider, so my review doesn't include that (including my 'price per person').
It's a fun place, and is kid friendly. It's somewhat 'group seating', as there are a number of long tables with chairs. It's not the easiest place to find (go through the Inn's parking lot)

There are lots of pinball and video games, and they take quarters, so you won't leave with a bunch of tokens in your pocket.
The pizza isn't bad, but I wouldn't go there just for it. We stayed for some of the trivia, which was fun and got everyone there talking to each other, as you swap answer sheets to do the scoring.

“An unassuming store with delicious food!
We ordered the 2/3lb mushroom burger, onion rings and strawberry milkshake. The burger patties were juicy and well-seasoned. I loved the fresh veggies and fragrant mushrooms. Onion rings were freshly fried and didn’t leave a greasy feeling and the strawberry milkshake was creamy with nice strawberry chunks. The lady at the store was also warm and friendly. So happy with this find!“

“This place is catered towards Longshoreman and truckers. What does that mean? 24/7 HOT FOOD! That also means that it's a little off the beaten path. Strangely enough, Tacoma doesn't have many 24/7 joints, so this place is an absolute gem!“

I had the cream puff pecan ice cream dessert it was prepared. Well, it looked good. It was personal preference not liking it. It was taken off of my bill not at my request. There was no line when I walked in, and the cashier (who I think might be the owner) was incredibly friendly. He even offered me a bag of chips on the house, which was a nice gesture, even though I politely declined because I’m not a big chips person.

I asked him what he recommended, and I went with his suggestion. It was absolutely worth it. Honestly, it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. The portion was perfect, the flavors were spot on, and nothing felt overdone. The bacon was cooked perfectly—crispy, flavorful, and exactly how it should be. Everything tasted fresh, like it was made with quality, house-prepped ingredients.

The whole experience was quick and effortless. I waited less than a minute for my food, and the service couldn’t have been better.

As a contractor who’s on the road all day, finding a place that’s fast, friendly, and serves genuinely great food makes a huge difference. This place made my day a little easier. If I’m ever back in the area, I’ll definitely stop in again.
