“Thieves!!!!! This used to be our fav Mexican food place BUT they habitually double charge or add additional orders on your credit card. Several times they have added items to our bill that we didn’t order and waitress had to take them off. The last time, we had dinner and bill was $54. When I got my bank statement, the $54 plus tip charge was there AND a charge for $107. I called them repeatedly and each time the lady acted like she couldn’t speak English and kept telling me “no manager” and “not today. I had to dispute it with my bank. My husband was telling a coworker what happened and that person’s parents had the same thing happen to them!!!!!!! If this happened to 2 random orders, I’m sure it’s happened to others. NEVER going back. YAKIMA BEWARE!“

“I always get the "Bigfoot" chicken fried steak meal, which is consistently tasty and generously portioned. The hash browns were crispy, and my eggs were cooked perfectly. The price was worth it though for one of the better and more generously portioned breakfasts I've had. To top it off the wait staff were all consistently friendly and helpful. For classic American breakfast, go here and brave the wait if you have to.“

“A little bummed today, we are 100% Taj supporters and have gone here since the initial owner Jessie and her husband opened it. This was the first time we’ve been back after they closed their buffet for awhile. No rice pudding, which was always a staple with the mango and empty hot food bins, sauce but no meat. They’ve also moved the buffet right in the way to walk into the restaurant, so when there is a line, you can’t get around for the restroom or you have to wait for people to move when you are being seated. I dunno, not a top 10 day there today in my book, however, we’ll still go. I appreciate that they finally reupholstered their booths.“

“This place is a favorite here in Yakima. I am vegetarian and there is lots of options for me to try new dishes. My boyfriend loves the Gyro sandwich and we both enjoy all of the appetizers. You get a really filling meal for the price you pay. We love coming here, the waiting staff is very kind and attentive, the place is warm and beautiful, and the kitchen staff really know what they’re doing when it comes to the food. 100% recommend spending some time here!

Vegetarian options: I eat very little meat if any. This place has great options for vegetarians. I’ve changed my regular order several times and have never had to order something with meat or stick to the same dish. They have many salads, veggie kabobs, their falafel sandwich which is my personal favorite, an amazing lentil soup, greek fries, saffron rice, etc. I highly recommend for someone looking for some different vegetarian options.“

“I was completely shocked a couple weeks ago when my husband and I went to breakfast at waffle Café on 72nd. We stopped going for a long time because the atmosphere was horrible. It was dirty. The food changed, it was bland, greasy and had gone downhill. This time it was absolutely amazing, the restaurant was much cleaner, the food was much better and the atmosphere was a lot more welcoming. A few days ago I went to get a gift card for a family member who use to eat there but stopped because of the lack of sanitary and food. While getting the gift card I asked the gal if there was a new owner, she said no, and I told her that we were , very surprised how welcoming and clean and how much better the food has been. I asked if they had a management change and she said yes that she was the new manager. I told her thank you for the job that she’s done making the café more welcoming again. Its nice to see that somebody cares about the cleanliness and the food in their establishment. We will be going back.“

“We / my husband and I were there from Rocklin, California at a reunion.. we got there very late. Most of the food was gone. It looked delicious.. however, we didn’t get to enjoy it!! That of course our fault! … but I happen to be very hungry… two of your waiters (gentlemen) asked me if there was something they could get for me! Of course I said, yes!! I asked for Iced Tea .. brought to me immediately and then the second gentleman asked if he could get something for me .. he brought me a small loaf of that delicious bread nicely warm and butter!! It was delicious!! I would like to commend those two gentlemen!! Your restaurant is phenomenal as well as elegant!!! Thank you!! Tacos el rey is one of the more authentic Mexican food restaurants in the area. Its menu is modest in size, but what it lacks in variety, it more than makes up in quality and authenticity. The good always has the right amount of spice and flavor. The carnitas are wonderful, and the sopes are top notch; not that different from what my mom would make, and that's saying something.

Tacos el rey has a special that really shines. Its either two tacos, two sopes, or one and one, plus beans and rice, for less than $10, to the best of my recollection. That special alone has always been enough to leave me full for hours and hours.

The staff has always been friendly, and the salsas that they have contain the right amount of spiciness for most people. I wholeheartedly recommend this place, especially for lunch, which is when they have their special. Lots of high quality food for very reasonable prices.“

“Have never had a bad meal here. The servings are large even at lunch time. The service is great and the people are warm and friendly. The prices are the same as every other restaurant in the area. We drive over the mountain passes for a day drive so we can eat at El Porton's, takes us 2 1/2 hours. We make at least three trips a year and would be more if it wasn't for the winter weather. Can't wait for the next trip for lunch.
