We stumbled upon The Purple Door this evening, and the only thing I'm sad about is that tomorrow is our last day. The ice cream was phenomenal and we received great service. We'll definitely go back for one last visit during our trip, but I'm finding myself wondering if we'd be able to keep some pints frozen during our 6.5 hour drive home. The custard is made fresh daily with cream and eggs and it shows. The texture is dense and silky in a way that regular ice cream cannot match, which is something food writers have been saying about Leon's for decades and which is still true when you actually eat it. We had the Butter Pecan, which is one of three flavors always on rotation alongside vanilla and chocolate, and it has this nutty sweetness that holds up all the way to the bottom of the cone. “It has been about 20 years since I’ve been able to visit Kitts custard the last time that I was here to visit, it was just after my father’s passing and he was the one who introduced my brother and I two kids custard while we were here living in Milwaukee at the time.
As I said it’s been about 20 years my friend and I came to Milwaukee to try kids custard from Kewaunee Wisconsin, which is about 98 miles. I made sure on the website that you were open when we got there your lights and signs said you were open, but your door was locked. We knocked on the door. No one answered. We stayed there for about 5 to 10 minutes. I even tried calling you. No one answered the phone so we had to turn back to go back to Kewaunee unable to revisit the nostalgia of my family coming to see you so unfortunately, three customers had to walk away from your business. This is sad to see hope this gets fixed soon.“

“I have driven to random places, asked random people on the streets , where I could get the perfect most authentic taco. After 6 months of searching tosa and milwaukee, I finally found it. Their tacos are fresh , meat super flavorful and their green sauce is spicy enough to make you sweat.“
