“It’s hard to make food a sexual experience but the Spicy Shrimp Po’ Boy f***** my face. Fuckin’ F**** a lot of places tone spice down for ‘general pop’ but this place gives it to you raw. If it says spicy it’s spicy but it also delivers a balance of flavor with heat. It was an explosion of awesome in my mouth. So, if you are looking to eat some delicious food while in Madison and need a foodgasm, visit Stadium Take Out you will have your mind blown.“

“Haven promises to live up to it's name and rather more. In the midst of many, many new Asian restaurants on or near State Street, Haven stands out for having a warm, open, well-lit and tasteful atmosphere--including not only a few games but a well-chosen, literate bookshelf that welcomes you to linger. The tea selection finally brings us back to the long-lost day of Dobra tea, finally expanding the State Street area Asian dining experience beyond bag tea. The food is equal to these other successes. I had the braised beef noodle bowl. This was a generous, flavorful no-nonsense bowl with a goodly bone-n joint of beef in the midst of the other hearty chucks of meat. The broth and the noodles were up to the same generous, flavorful standard. I observed in passing that they seem to have the liquor selection they will need to fit in with State Street, though that isn't a reason why I stopped in. I will certainly be back.“

“The shop is adorable and has such a cozy atmosphere, it’s a great place to sit and get some work done.

The real highlight, though, is their chai. I’m a huge chai drinker, and their iced chai, the “Chai’d & True” is easily the best I’ve had in Madison. It’s always perfectly balanced and consistently delicious.

The food menu is pretty limited with a few pastries options and honestly they are hit or miss which is the only reason I can’t leave 5 stars. Overall, I’d absolutely recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a cute coffee shop with excellent chai.“

“JustVeggiez 100% Vegan is just plain one of the best restaurants in Madison. Burgers, pizza, wraps, lasagna, big salads, teriyaki, burritos and tacos, GF options...the menu is large and so varied. Plus they have acai bowls, desserts, milkshakes, ice cream and cookies! There's a gorgeous big counter complete with video screens, or table seating where you can people watch on State Street, and the orange and green walls and artwork give a fun vibe. You can even order weekly meal plans for home delivery, and they do catering, too. Alcohol license is in the works, for those interested in that, and they will have outdoor seating starting in the spring. I personally love the Strawberry Walnut Salad, the Lo Mein, the Reuben sandwich, and the BBQ Tofu Wrap, not to mention the vegan cheese curds and the roasted potatoes side dish.“

Unfortunately, the service during our visit was poor. When we arrived, it was not full/busy, but it got busy shortly after we arrived. Despite sitting front and center at a hightop table, we received our sodas and then were ignored for about 20 mins. I asked twice, 2 different waitresses, in that time period to order. Both waitresses walked by us multiple times, and helped other/larger tables that arrived after us, first instead of us. I finally asked what looked like a manager if he could help me, and he didn't, but he got a 3rd waitress to help. My son and I intended to dine in, and also ordered 1 addtl order to-go. The kitchen brought all 3 orders out in stryofoam in a plastic bag, so my son and I ate from to-go containers at the table. Despite the fact that the service was annoying, I'd try again since the food was so good. Maybe it was an off day?“

“The food is simple (sandwich, salads, burger and a few other options) but tasty. The staff is friendly and makes sure yi ur experience is good, and the decor is nice. Bonus point for the nice selection of whisky and spirits, great for a restaurant. Also, during happy hour a few items are very fairly priced. I've had to on a few occasions go outside just for a quick minute to get some fresh air as it gets stale fast in there at capacity. That aside, bartenders are very friendly/hardworking and it's always a blast singing the night away!“

“We are really happy that we chose Capital for our wedding reception. Dawn and colleagues were very accommodating and helpful, and the bartenders on the night were fantastic. We had the two indoors rooms and access to the biergarten, and (despite my best efforts with a killer wedding playlist) by the end of the night everyone was out in the biergarten listening to the great live band. “Ignore every negative review this place has the best crispy amazing chicken wings I’ve had in a very very long time, melty cheese in the moz corn dogs and some magical boba. I recommend the hot matcha latte and adding boba to it, the warm soft boba is soooo yum. I was visiting Madison for 5 days, discovered teamoji on the 2nd day, and went at least once every remaining day until I had to fly home and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since then I swear. THAT CHICKEN IS SO GOOD“

“Friendly locally owned place. One of the oldest buildings in Middleton. Ambience is a bit like drinking in your crazy uncle's basement (i.e. the furnace is in the middle of the room) with strong drinks and good food.“

“This is an excellent location and a great addition to the state street food scene. The atmosphere is immaculate—it's sort of a fantastical version of a Japanese Izakaya, with as many elements of Japanese culture as possible represented in the establishment's decor. The food is also excellent, and speaking as someone who is half Japanese, I've tasted things there I would normally only taste in Japan, which is impressive because the establishment is not Japanese owned. One small and rather particular note I have is about the rice: the side of rice I was served was quite typical of Chinese style rice; long grain rice cooked to be lighter and drier than the typical Japanese style. I would recommend cooking shorter grain white rice (sometimes labeled as sushi rice) and cooking it in the Japanese way so it comes out a little stickier. [EDIT: the last few times I've been the rice has been done in a more Japanese style and goes better with the food they serve]. Overall though, Izakaya Kuroyama is a great dinner place and late night spot perfect for a meal and/or drink after a late night shift or to close out a night out on the town. I hope it lasts for many years to come.“

“For Asian-American fare, I was pleased. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken lunch. The breading wasn't overwhelming, the chicken ratio wasn't disappointing, and the sauce met expectations for consistency and flavor. It didn't blow my mind, but it was tasty. It included fried rice and vegetables. I was surprised an egg roll was added. I was too full to eat it, however. Food was plenty.
I did not check on the quality of the ingredients or whether this restaurant uses MSG, artificial colors or flavors, emulsifiers, preservatives, GMOs, or anything else.
I'm judging strictly from presentation, quantity, relative freshness, and flavor, and what you would expect for standard asian-american fare.“

“The bread is so fresh and perfectly sized. My sandwich included alfalfa sprouts and the were plentiful and fresh, when I came home I was able to give some to my cat and she loved them. Everything was fresh, Sorry to repeat myself but it's the truth. Staff went out of their way to make sure I was greeted and taken care of.“

I went through the drive through at the University location. The barista on the comms was nice but when I placed my large order responded “seriously?” And asked me to come inside. That’s a pretty reasonable request however the tone and “seriously” didn’t make me want to go out of my way to come back to that location. Starbucks didn’t lose my business, I went over to the state street location where they didn’t blink made my ice lattes in a very speedy manner and received a good tip for thier service. Thank you �“
