“Found this while in town for skiing and needed a good breakfast on the way home. The Sunday buffet has great food options ranging from traditional breakfast to building your own taco. Good value for the money and the staff is very courteous. They often make rounds to top off your coffee and clear plates.“
“I love the Mint. Whenever I'm in Wasau I make sure to stop in because it is one of the last true, old school diners around. The place has history. Their breakfast used to bowl me over but this time the eggs seemed to be powdered. I could be wrong, but they just weren't the same. Came back the next day for dinner and the chicken and stuffing was just as delicious as I remembered. The place is always buzzing with the locals and it's write in the heart of downtown so you can do a little walking after your meal. Come enjoy a small slice of Americana.“
“Surprisingly nice restaurant. I ate here years ago and I didn't like it but they have definitely updated and the food was great. The portions were large enough that I had breakfast for 2 days. Our server was great. Our coffee cup was always full. Will eat here again.“
“If you're in Wausau and have a craving for authentic Mediterranean cuisine, there's a spot you simply can't miss. This restaurant has quickly become a favorite for locals and visitors alike, thanks to its exceptional menu and inviting atmosphere. At the heart of their menu are the Feta Gyros – a true masterpiece of flavors. Each gyro is generously filled with succulent meat, wrapped in a soft, warm pita, and perfectly complemented by the tangy feta. It's a dish that not only satisfies your hunger but also transports you straight to the Mediterranean coast with every bite. But the experience doesn't end there. The Greek fries are a revelation in themselves. Seasoned to perfection and cooked to a golden crisp, they are the ideal accompaniment to any main dish. These aren't just any ordinary fries; they're a culinary journey. And for dessert, the baklava is an absolute must-try. Each layer of this sweet, flaky pastry is a testament to the chef's attention to detail and commitment to traditional flavors. It's the perfect ending to an already delightful meal. This restaurant isn't just about great food; it's about the experience. From the warm, welcoming ambiance to the attentive service, every visit is memorable. Whether you're a Mediterranean cuisine aficionado or trying it for the first time, this place in Wausau is sure to impress. Don't miss out on this culinary gem – it's a dining experience you'll want to relive again and again.“
“We got there when it opened because I was that excited to try this place, and it did not dissappoint! We were visiting Wausau for a fundraiser walk, and Thrive was part of a celebration! The brussel sprout appetizer was amazing! Then, the cajun style shrimp was delish, and omg the pork chop.......yes! nailed it!“
“Amelia made our visit wonderful. She knew everything about the menu and answered our questions. Also checked in often. And oh yeah, the food is awesome too. Had the soup and shared a pizza. Finished dinner with "huge" piece of carrot cake. As a person who rarely does reviews and only when the restaurant really deserves it, Red Eye Brewing really knocks it out of the park.“
“A classic country bar except for one thing. Simply fantastic food!! We had a double ham and grilled cheese and the special which was a delicious steak sandwich with grilled onions on a toasted hoagie. They even made a great kiddy cocktail for my grandson.“
“Our server jaziyah (sorry if i misspelled her name) was amazing ! She was very sweet and on top of everything even though she was training another server and looked pretty busy. Definitely best service I’ve had at a restaurant will be coming again !“
“Great local bar with a lot of history. We enjoyed a regular and Keto friendly fish dinner. Really appreciated the flexibility to listen to our special dietary requests and deliver a filling and delicious dinner! Plan to return often.Parking: easy to park and walk to the place.Dietary restrictions: very flexible, very tasty, very filling“
“MBC is our favorite restaurant in all of Wausau. My boys' favorite restaurant in their whole life time has been Red Robin, until now. They've finally gotten beaten. Sorry, Red Robin! You definitely need to step it up a few notches to compete with this place!“
“The food is very good. But when it comes to take-out food, they don't do very well giving you the extras you ask for - like extra tartar, lemon wedges and things like that. If they need to charge for them, so be it. If we ask for them DELIVER DAMN-IT :-). I'm happy to report they have improved.“
“Hey Kim, sorry it took so long to come and eat at your cafe. It was awesome and the guys I was there with said the same thing! We meet once a month for lunch and your cafe is now going to be in our circle of restaurants that we will visit! Thanks again for the awesome food and we’ll be back, you have been warned lol!!!!“
“LOVE this place. The ambience is really cool, the service was spectacular and the food was delicious! I had the Bet you can't burger (I did) and my wife had the prime rib sandwich (which i finished later) Excellent! Great curds and fries too. Great mixed drinks as well. Highly recommended!“
“I don't drink alcohol But have no fear they served me ginger beer while I enjoyed the atmosphere. The bar sets in the back alley way a few blocks from the police station in whats called one of the schetchest neighborhoods in the beautiful city of Wausau they say I say not at all.Vegetarian options: Bloody Mary i think made with tomato juice is all I can tell yous“
“We were very pleased with our service. The waitstaff were awesome seeing that our very large group reservations were marked 18 instead of 8. They accommodated us nicely and the waiter who took our order I think noticed I wore hearing aids, that he came around and knelt down to ask my order when he stood to take all the others was so impressive. It really made my day. It was my granddaughters wedding supper.“
“Whether in line waiting to go through the drive-thru or going inside to dine in or do takeout, maybe a Butter Burger, an ice cream treat or something else makes it worth a stop by to enjoy. This time was dine-in with five adults & two kids after their concert. We weren't the only ones who made that choice and as usual their staff took care of everybody plus the food and adding ice cream treats etc had to admire how well they handled everything.Fun evening inside as usually I grab something from the drive-thru and take it home.Either way it's a great place and I love their ice cream.“
“Been here several times. Usually it’s fine which is why I rated 4 stars. Sometimes it’s rough in there. Tonight we were seated at a bar booth. We spend most the time being ignored by staff. While other patrons stood literally directly in front of our table with their backs to us, weird. Who does that. I had to pee for about 15 minutes before I finally tapped a lady on her shoulder and told her I needed to get up from my dining table. Never really figured out who our server was. hostess took out order then had a couple other people clear plates and bring a bill. Food was so so.“
“I was staying in a hotel near Stewart Ave in Wausau and was traveling alone. I really didn’t want to go to a chain restaurant and wanted to go to a place where I could socialize with the locals. Man THIS WAS THE PLACE!! On top of it all I got the Ribeye which they hand-cut in house and I could order as many ounces as I wanted. I went for 18oz. ;). And ate every last bite. One of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time and I travel all over the world for work and eat at some really nice places…this honestly ranks as one of the top steaks I’ve had. And the clientele was really friendly too! Now I wish I lived in Wausau and not 900 miles away…because this would be my new place to go!!!“
“This local pub was exactly what we were looking for tonight. We’re in town for an anniversary weekend without kids and this place was laid back, friendly and gave us some great tips on what we should do in town this weekend. Thank you for the excellent service!“
“Restaurants in hotels can be a hit or miss and Van Acre hit the mark. The food was phenomenal, from breakfast to dinner. I’ve had the breakfast buffet twice and they had ample of selection and protein selection were not greasy at all. Phil was very down to earth and accommodating - kudos to him! There was another gentleman who served me (can’t recall the name) and he, too, was very attentive. On to dinner service. Portions were very generous but I can’t say enough on how spectacular the food tasted. Get the smoke plate - the pork belly alone was to die for. This is by far one of the best restaurants in a hotel I’ve ever been with respect to quality of food and phenomenal service by all staff.Kid-friendliness: Washroom had Koala care with liners and staff offered booster seat.“
