“If you’ve never been to D Spot Dessert Cafe, you’re genuinely missing out on one of Edmonton’s most memorable food experiences. The moment you walk in, the bright, upbeat decor and the smell of chocolate set the tone for a relaxed night out with friends.

The menu is the first thing that hits you. It’s huge—basically a fifteen‑page book stacked with wild desserts and a surprisingly solid lineup of savory dishes. Everything looks so good that choosing what to order becomes the hardest part of the visit. The items are a bit on the pricey side, but you can tell immediately that you’re paying for a full experience, not just a plate of food.

When the food arrived, it absolutely delivered. We started with the loaded nachos, which were ridiculous in the best way: a massive pile with enough toppings and melted cheese that every bite stayed interesting all the way to the bottom.

Dessert was where things really took off. I had the milk cake with caramel pearls and toffee bits, and it was fantastic—soft, rich, and just the right amount of crunch. My friends were equally locked in on their picks: the Perfect Pair skillet cookie, a giant warm chocolate chip cookie drenched in Lotus cookie butter and crumble with vanilla ice cream, and a red velvet cheesecake layering vanilla cheesecake with dense red velvet cake. The skillet cookie was such a hit that my buddy basically made it his mission to finish it, even though every bite pushed him further past whatever diet he thought he was on. He was determined, and watching him fight through it was half the entertainment.

The portions are huge, so we ended up taking leftovers home, and the late‑night snack round was just as good. Between the atmosphere, the menu size, the quality, and the overall experience, the night was a win. It’s easily one of the best spots in Edmonton for a group hangout or a late‑night dessert run, and we’ll definitely be back.“

Made by Marcus makes incredible ice cream. I have happily supported this establishment for years, largely because they created what I consider to be one of mankind’s greatest achievements: Mint Grasshopper Pie.

And now they’re retiring it.

I don’t know who approved this decision, but I assume they hate happiness.

Was it not selling? I would have bought more. Did you need a long-term commitment? I was ready. A subscription? Take my credit card. A freezer full of it in my basement? We could have worked something out.

Instead, you’ve chosen to discontinue the best flavour on the menu and leave the rest of us to wander aimlessly through your other reasonably excellent flavours, pretending they fill the void.

Five stars for Mint Grasshopper Pie.

“Overall, the dining experience was very, very good. The service was excellent, even though at the time we went it was quite busy. The cuts of meat were of very high quality. The only detraction was that the scallops we had were tiny and cooked quite swiftly. The bul galbi and bul gogi were excellent. We will go there again.“

“We went to Tarrka with one thing in mind, Halwa Puri, but unfortunately got there too late to order it that day. Still, the rest of our meal turned out to be quite enjoyable.

The Samosa Chaat was a great start, with 3–4 samosas covered in chickpeas, yogurt and chutneys. One thing I particularly liked was the serving temperature. Samosa chaat can often feel overly cold because of the chutneys, but this one was served at just the right temperature.

We also tried the Palak Paneer, Nihari and Garlic Naan. The naan was probably the standout for me: fresh, soft and nicely garlicky. It was delicious enough to enjoy by itself and paired especially well with the curries.

The Palak Paneer had a nice creamy consistency without losing the spinach flavor, and there was no shortage of paneer. The Nihari did have a fairly thick layer of oil on top, which we had to remove, but the gravy underneath was rich and the meat was very tender.

The portions were generous, and overall the food was quite good. Service, however, was a little slow and could use some improvement.

If your priority is hearty food rather than an upscale atmosphere, Tarrka is worth a visit. Just make sure you have some extra time.“

We ordered the large Tiramisu Bingsoo, and it was absolutely amazing! 🤤 When the employee brought it to our table, she gave us four spoons, even though we didn’t ask for them. We thought that was such a thoughtful and nice touch. 🥄❤
