“Went to the Cactus Club on Marine Drive in Burnaby and had a great night. Laylo was an awesome server super friendly, on point with timing, and made the whole experience even better. Happy hour was solid: the prawn crunch hit the spot, the salmon aburi was fantastic, and the spicy margaritas kept flowing. Honestly, those margaritas were perfect just the right mix of heat and flavor. Great service, good food, and a fun atmosphere. I’d come back in a heartbeat.“

The cooks even set aside some of the spices that would have made the food to hot for our daughter and they accommodated fun utensils for kids as well as gave us free desert for birthday. “I tried this place when they first opened but wasn't impressed by the food. But I live very close by and decided to give them another shot. First off the service from the moment I walked in the door was warm and welcoming. Especially since I just came from the gym and wasn't exactly dressed for dining. I asked for the best pasta dish, the host recommended the Cavatelli boscaiola and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The flavour was on point! Personally I realize that I'm not a fan of thick pasta so will probably order spaghetti or Linguini next time. I look forward to dining here soon since I did take out this time.“

The second night I made an order online but accidentally pushed the Westshore location...(I'm in Saanich) when I was pointed out my mistake the young man up front went to talk to his manager Jenn! “I had a small party of 30 hosted on the mezzanine at the Watson. Service was 10/10, food was great, drinks were great as usual, and everyone had an amazing time. Mike and Sean were easy to work with to coordinate the event, and the price was very reasonable. I strongly recommend the Watson for any future events.“

The entrance has stairs going up and down so it isn't accessible from the entrance but i emailed them and they told me there's a accessible access from inside Havana's next door, Google has this bar as accessible but if to have to enter elsewhere it's not.

Bartenders were really helpful it helping us chose which cocktails to pick the drinks were wonderful.

Overall would come again it's great spot to have one last drink to end the night“

“Wandered into the chickadee room while waiting for our table at a nearby restaurant. The bartender made me the most delicious Pisco sour, and his Stoke for cocktails was so high. He proudly showed me the official bitters for a Pisco sour and talked abt the banana notes.

He also made sure a male seated at the bar left my friend and I alone to our own conversation. Much appreciated.

Wish we could have stayed longer, they were having a theme night w a special menu. They all seemed so into it, what a cool team.“

The one thing lacking is a brunch menu that includes espresso coffee, drink specials ie; mimosa and Caesar specials etc.
We used to come to Toby's every Sunday for their brunch and their is currently no one within walking distance that offers a good brunch.

“One of my favorite things to explore are fun speakeasies. It feels that Vancouver is limited in that.
So when I entered into Bagheera and was expected to produce a secret code to enter then I was pretty excited for how my time spent there would be.
Bagheera is a pretty fun space with stories for each of their beverages and also their ambience. The drinks were fairly delicious and extremely reasonable during the happy hour (10 dollar cocktails).
The food was quite good but don't expect to be filled up as the portions are more snack size.
Altogether I plan to come back especially as I learnt at the end of our experience they have bottles of gin marinating in various levels of salt water.“

“This is a great place. It’s one of those eateries on the North Shore that is a must visit. Menu is not elaborate but that’s why this place works. They do what they do really well. The cost is also very reasonable. Apparently they have been around for 4 yrs. I spoke to who I believe was the owner and he was super nice as well. Would definitely recommend.“

“The first thing that hit me was how clean the venue was. The staff was very friendly. We chose the prix fixe. The steak was one of the best I’ve tasted because there were no tough bits at all and the sauce was SO good. The side salad was well balanced. I am GF so I asked for veggies on the side and they gave me these grilled mushrooms that were very addictive. The cocktails were delicious and my husband’s wine was so good.“

“We visited The Magnet on West Pender in Vancouver last night. It's owned by the same folks that run Brassneck Brewery (on Main, very decent beers) and the Alibi Room (on Alexander, great beer list, best veggie burger in town, great location). We've heard good things from friends and checked it out for their beer list which is vast and great choices (only BC beers these days as everywhere but excellent selection). They have slow pours for some of the pilsners and a side pull for others for a denser, creamier foam. Staff is very knowledgable about the beers and about the short but mighty natural wine list as well. The real surprise for us was the food though. We had heard good things about their pies (English Pork Pie, daily choices) and charcuterie board but as vegetarians we opted for the Grilled Carrots with Spiced Orange Glaze, Chana Dal, Spinach, Cilantro & Cashew Lemon Cream, served with Fried Flat Bread and the Whipped Feta & Olive Dip, Grilled Zucchini, Warm Balsamic Shallot Dressing & Housemade Olive Focaccia. We were majorly impressed by the presentation and taste of both. The warm balsamic shallot dressing was divine. SO GOOD. Everything fresh, on point and so delish. Highly recommend checking this place out when you are in downtown Vancouver.“

“I went with my partner and it all sounded so good; we wanted to try everything. We ended up ordering the breakfast pizza, brioche French toast, s'more appolino, and sourdough with ricotta and huckleberry. Everything was absolutely delicious. Such a wide variety of textures and flavors. The French toast is made from a Japanese milk bread so it's the most moist French toast you'll ever have. Nice coffee as well.

It's a little expensive but I think it's about average for Vancouver pricing and its fresh ingredients and quality make it worth it.

Service is also fantastic here. We had a few different waiters come to the table throughout the meal and everyone was super friendly and helpful. The environment also reflects this friendly hospitality.

“I really want to give this a 4 or 4.5 but I’m giving them a 5 because the potential is definitely there - and I would like to encourage them in that journey!
The service was attentive, friendly and polite, but when asked direct questions, the answers were cryptic possibly cheeky but nonetheless unclear. It is already a bit awkward to grab the attention of a busy server, and to be left with non-answers was a bit frustrating.
The food was tasty and inventive. We had their tasting menu and each dish had a balance of so many flavours. But I guess that’s sort of my complaint, it was like some dishes trying to accomplish too much that each dish sort of tasting the same. All dynamic in flavour but it was one pow after another. Possibly not a bad thing for many people!
Interior was very cool!!! Even the outside patio was very nice. We sat a the bar and fridge door would open and close in bright cool color that strained my eyes after being in a dark room.
Broadly speaking what a fun place for a date night, but the restaurant has a few details it could iron out at its price point.“
