“Ordered over the phone for takeout, haven't yet had the pleasure of dining in. We were quoted 20 minutes for four rolls, and it was indeed 20 minutes! Here's what we got: - Salmon Tataki Roll: Buttery, seared salmon with real crab on the inside. So, so good. Probably my favorite roll of the night. About $15. - Mango Roll: Tamago (egg) and cream cheese inside. Also comes with asparagus, but I asked for cucumber instead. Love, love, love this roll! So light and refreshing. About $12. - Chopped Scallop Roll: I expected a basic scallop maki, but nope. Spicy bay scallops on top of a veggie roll. YUM. Also about $12. - Spicy Tuna Roll: Tuna on the inside, spicy sauce on top -- and it's certainly spicy! $7.50. Dinner was delicious, we will definitely be back for more. Located in the Belmont Market plaza, by A&W and Starbucks.“
“Toro is a very beautiful restaurant. It looks and feels like you are under the sea.Had a very amazing Bento boxFood was fresh and beautifully presented. Green tea was also wonderful and beautifully presented. Will definitely return and suggest this place!?❣️“
“I come here the second time while I am giving a review. I am a fan of Japanese food and I found that this place outstanding from where I went during 3 months in Victoria (love it) salmon is fresh and amazing takoyaki. even chocolate mint after bills is amazing to.“
“I love everything about this place BUT if I could please suggest one minor thing: PLEASE stop using that lemon-pinesol table cleaning spray. After almost finishing an amazing meal, the table next to us gets cleared and sprayed but the lemon smell kills every pleasant olfactory sensation after that point and it just ruins the meal me. So many alternative and effective sanitizing sprays to choose from that don't smell horrid.“
“These folks are the friendliest restaurateurs in Victoria. My go-to is the udon noodle soup, however their rolls are also amazing! Great portions at a reasonable price. Lots of options for non-sushi customers.Vegetarian options: The veggie udon I am eating right now is delicious!Wheelchair accessibility: First floor, automatic doors. Avoid a ramp by entering on the Yates entrance“
“I've been here many times, usually for takeaway. I've yet to try the fried chicken but all the sushi and bento boxes I've had are phenomenal! They certainly know how to cook food, and if you dine in at certain times you may be surprised with an gratis appetizer, which I just found out by actually doing a sit-down meal! Portions are excellent, especially for the price point. These guys have a realistic approach to what a dinner is worth and I'm sure everyone can agree that's a real commodity right now!! Wanna be full for $23 with leftovers? Then it's time to hit up Kitchen Story!“
“Came here upon someone else's recommendation and it lived up to his praise! The best chicken teriyaki and tempura I've had on the island and the service on all ends was very pleasant - will definitely be regulars here for the lunch bento!“
“This Japanese spot is a hidden gem. It is open during lunch only. I ordered my food in advance the night before. There is limited tables available (I believe 3?). When I arrived to pickup my order, there was one unoccupied table so they accommodated my order for dine-in instead of take-out. My assorted sashimi don was well-preserved and tasty. I will come back again!“
“Nice variety of Japanese cuisine.I came here specifically eager to try the sushi and ended up going with the Sushi and Maki Gozen. It’s clear that the chefs know what they are doing when it comes to the technique, but unfortunately I found most of the raw fish to be somewhat bland here. A hint of that for me was drenching the spicy tuna roll with spicy mayo/sauce - quality sushi shouldn’t need the extra shenanigans if you ask me!What’s notable is the large variety of foods on the menu, from noodles to soups to sushi to tempura. But, in all honesty, the Gozen was quite dissatisfying. The beef side dish was a confusing addition to a sushi plate, and the fruit plate (“dessert”?) was laughable… take a look at the picture of it.Worth mentioning the very sweet customer service, but unfortunately at this price I can find so much better quality sushi and Japanese food in town.“
“First time eating here. Oysters were so good! Really liked our bulgogi pasta. Super rich and creamy.Saba was really good, nicely seasoned. Nigiri was also really nice, we tried a few different cuts of tuna.Had a great time! Will certainly come back.“
“Always a pleasure with consistently above-average food. While some dishes may occasionally miss the mark, overall, it's a great experience. This time, the yam and spicy salmon rolls were fantastic, and I appreciated the perfectly cooked rice—a rarity in some sushi places. The hotate age was also a hit, and the Bianco dessert, as usual, was a delightful way to end the meal.“
“I would say that the food was delicious however very, very small. Not sure if it’s just because I’m from the US and our portions are huge or if others would agree. We got 4 baos and ramen, easily could’ve eaten 2x what we ordered. The Bao was delicious, however smaller than my hand. Ramen was also delicious but 5 bites and it’s gone. I would come back just with the expectation of spending a lot more money to get full“
“We found this place while starving during lunch hour; we didn't know that this restaurant is strategically located in the heart of Langford, with a grocery store next to it, and plenty of other restaurants nearby as plan B's, just in case we didn't like the menu lineup. Thankfully, that did not happen. The lunch specials gave us enough mileage, so we ordered two different versions of that. My version had beef teriyaki, and I paid extra to upgrade the California rolls to Dynamite rolls (best $1 I've spent all day). The Dynamite rolls held together well and were tasty. The beef teriyaki was okay, but I was pleased at the generous portion on the Bento box. The lunch special also came with miso soup, salad, a few pieces of tempura, and an upside-down orange. All in all, quite a pleasant experience. We came during late lunch, so the place wasn't busy, and the one person manning the floor was enough to serve everyone.“
“Sushi Jiro is an exceptionally delightful dining experience, boasting an inviting ambiance complemented by the warm and cordial staff. The menu offers great value, with generous portions that promise not just satisfaction but a true feast for the senses. Each dish is a testament to freshness and flavor, ensuring a memorable meal that leaves you eagerly anticipating your next visit.“
“Best sushi on the go downtown Victoria. Great variety from fish and chips to more authentic Japanese fare. My go to is the Double Crunch or the T&R combo. Menu is very clear and descriptive. Prices fair for the fare. “Every dish here is delicious, and every roll is generous and authentic. The desserts really amazed everyone present. The boss is very nice and the service is enthusiastic. This is a very perfect experience and I will recommend more friends to come here to try it.“
“Checked out Sakura Japanese Cuisine Sushi Bar & Grocery to grab some sushi grade salmon and other Japanese items.Decent selection of tea, sauces, rice, noodles, snacks, etc. Didn’t try any of their food items but the “to go” selection had bentos, katsu, tempura, kara’age and sushi rolls.Bought ~1/2 pound of frozen sushi grade salmon ($29.85/lb), a bag of sushi rice and a spicy tuna musubi ($4.00).Reminds me of a mini version of Fujiya Foods.“
“Was in for a delicious lunch with friends. I had the Tonkatsu. So tasty. My guests had Tanuki and a selection of Uramaki. All were authentically prepared and a feast for the eyes as well as the tummy. Great service, fair prices and the quaint atmosphere of a family restaurant. I will be back !“
“Everything was fresh and delicious, staff were lovely and menu was clear with what you get. I've walked past this place a lot and finally gave it a shot. Definitely comming back!Dietary restrictions: Asked me about my allergies before they touched anything.“
“Me and a group of girls went into Nubo the other night and had a great experience. Our server Grace was so helpful as none of us had been for sushi before, and we had so many questions. I have already gone back and wish Grace was there as our other server was not nearly as nice. Seriously Grace was so sweet and we will go back when she is in!“
“Gluten-free options galore.Packets of g/f soy sauce available!Great staff recommendations and a wonderful organic, cozy dining area. Big board to the left of the front-end/kitchen with non-permanent markers to leave something nice.I've lived in this neighborhood for awhile but never had stopped in. I think I'll be returning soon with a friend to show them this absolute gem of a restaurant.5/5“
“Sushi K is by far! By far my favorite sushi restaurant in Victoria. Portions are amazing! Sushi is so fresh and delicious evertime I order. Salmon Sashimi is magnificent! The owners know how to treat their customers. I have been to many sushi restaurants all over BC and Sushi K is at the top.Now if Sushi K can find away to put Flounder Fringe on the menu I would probably just move in. Lol (TAKAS SUSHI WHITE ROCK BC) Sushi K is the place! A must try. Oh ya the Chicken Udon is amazing! Not sure how they cook the chicken but it's spot on.Jeremy“
“It absolutely baffles me when I see this restaurant with nobody in it. Its great! Weve been there three times now in almost as many weeks, The waitresses are pleasant and nice. The drinks are cold., and the food fresh. Now I must say I saee skip drivers coming and going almost every ten minutes but WHY eat in nobody there? Great place with a fireplace and all. Now the front room kinda sucks as you have peoples headlights in your face all the time but the back room is awesome and we always request the back room. Anyway please try! Support this business and go...go eat in! get the hell outta the house.“
