“As I’m not a wine lover, this was the best winery I visited in the area. Cozy and quiet area, nice views as well. Our host was lovely and helpful. Wines were slightly pricy compared to some other wineries, but not much and I was very happy to pay a bit extra for absolutely delicious wine.“

“Such friendly, warm welcome when arriving at the Elephant Island Winery. We were also greeted by their residents cat, Ginger. The wines were fabulous and the shaded outdoor seating area only enhanced the whole experience. Left with a cherry wine which we can't wait to indulge on our next celebration !“

“August 30, 2026 — Kettle Valley Winery

Kettle Valley sits at the end of a quiet, winding residential road — the kind of spot you really have to want to find. It's no surprise they don't get a ton of walk-in traffic, but that's part of the charm. On our visit, we actually watched two cyclists pedaling away after their own tasting — apparently they'd biked in just for this. That tells you something about the pull this place has.

A little history: Kettle Valley was started by brothers-in-law Bob Ferguson and Tim Watts, who began making wine as a hobby in an apartment before buying land on the Naramata Bench in the mid-80s. They earned the third winery licence on the Bench, and their first vintage back in 1992 was just 44 cases. Today they're considered the oldest single-owner winery on the Bench — still family-run, still hands-on. The name itself comes from the old Kettle Valley Railway that once connected Naramata to the outside world.

Crystal poured for us that day, and she was excellent — knowledgeable, personable, and clearly passionate about what they're doing there. She mentioned a lot of their wines sell out to wine club members before they ever hit the tasting room, which tells you all you need to know about the loyalty this place has built.

“Our favorite winery on the Bench for amazing red wine. It never disappoints. The staff are friendly and I love the unassuming shed winery experience. The ability to play an old school record while sipping an incredible wine is a nice touch. Highly recommend.“

“Went there for lunch on a Saturday with 3 adults and our dog, without a reservation. They were so kind and managed to find a spot for us. We didn’t have the full view from our table, but honestly, the atmosphere more than made up for it. The vibe is just perfect!
